      • I prefer the mobile phone can be handled by one hand. Lol

  • Or you can price beat with Officeworks based off the Costco price ($1214.99) for 13 Mini 256gb… Got a green one for $1154.24.

    • Does OW actually price beat Costco? Thought they would have declined given the membership fee?

Looks like the starlight one 256GB for $1037 is gone - snapped one up and the price went straight away up to $1217. Was a great deal - hope that cashrewards at 3.5% for mobile tracks and used a few discounted gift cards.

    • +1

      it's back at $1097.

  • Do you guys know if this is eligible for cashback? (Shopback/Cashrewards)

  • +1

I hope it gets dropped below $800 soon…

    • I say 6 months.

      • +2

Inflation might eat the possible savings up … :-(

        • If it falls to $800 and you get a 3% pay rise in the interim wouldn't you be paying less?

          • @netjock: IF it falls to $800 - I guess all the price cuts will be a bit slower.

The 12 was discontinued and has an old processor - the 13mini is still on offer and has the same processor as the 14 (ok … nearly … less RAM and graphics cores). The $1037 for the 256GB was a pretty good deal (combined with 3.5% cashback and/or discounted gift cards you got it under $1000).

But only guesswork - we will know soon (in 6 months!)

            • @mini_wombat:

12 was discontinued and has an old processor - the 13mini is still on offer

Just because it is discontinued and old processor shouldn't be your main consideration unless there is a mission critical feature.

You should keep and eye on iOS support. Lets assume it is 6 years from release. If you buy iphone 13 day 1 for say $1200 then it is $200 per year. A 2 year old phone you'd expect to pay $800 (4 x $200).

It all depends on the value you see from what you are getting for the price.

6 months was really a stab in the dark. Nobody knows.

  • Fk just bought an iPhone. I still have a solid S21 Ultra from the past deal here. Working meticulously.

  • Got an iphone XS which works fine but the battery is pretty much gone (battery health 81%). Would the 13mini be an upgrade or sideways?

    • +3

if you are happy with the phone, how about just change the battery since your phone is still being supported for a few more years? :P
Cost ~109 aud to replace battery from apple

      • It’s a very cost effective way to get another 2-3 years use out of your phone.

Did my iPhone 8 last week and now it’s practically brand new, will hopefully be good for another 2-3 years if I take care of it.

      • Yeah fair point!

    • +1

It's an upgrade in every way, provided you want a smaller phone.

  • +3

I have two spare tempered glass screen protectors for 13 mini to give away (melb CBD)

  • Ok!!!!

  • best phone ever own.

Looking to sell my iPhone 13 Mini to get the battery percentage :(

  • +1

    Paying $1100 for a Mini?

  • samsung should launch a mini galaxy s now

    • To be fair to samsung, the base model Galaxy S is pretty much the smallest android phone on the market.

      • They could cut the flip 4 in half and call it the S23 mini.

  • Are any specific options (colour / storage) more commonly discounted for iPhones? I'm wondering which option may be best for a future price protection claim.

  • OW price beat $1042

    • Has to be in stock. be amazed if you're successful

  • I can see the one I want at -13%, do you think we can expect the price to come down further?

    • +2

Prices will definitely come down further at some point, just a matter of when… :) If you don’t need/want a new phone right away, perhaps wait and see what happens during the upcoming sale season (Black Friday, Boxing Day). Or you could wait longer until Apple discontinues making the 13 mini, possibly in September next year or 2024.

Amazon pricing is a black box (to me at least), and good deals can pop up unexpectedly outside sales, so best to check back periodically or use camelcamelcamel. Just looking at them yesterday, the prices for the different 13 mini colours and storage sizes were bouncing around all over the place.

A word of caution on the -13% though: Amazon unhelpfully still appears to be using the old RRP for the 13 mini range, not the new reduced RRPs after the iPhone 14 series came out last week, so it’s probably not that great a discount at present. Check the Apple store price for the same model to work out the actual saving now.

For anyone still looking, Catch.com.au have all the colours @ $1097

    • +1

And 128GB models at $944, so 10% off—plus $5-10 for pick-up/delivery for non-OnePass members. (Not matched by Amazon yet, most are out of stock.)

      • PM at JB and use gift card to pay, may be even cheaper.

        • Do they match catch? It's grey import.

          • +1

@boretentsu: I don’t see anywhere mentioning Grey import. And iPhones sold by Catch are actually Aus stock. JB match any aussie retailer. I have succesfully matched to Media Form before.

          • @boretentsu: Tried at my local JB and they said they won't price match with gray import sites like Kogan, DickSmith and Catch and even Amazon if it's sold by anyone other than official amazon.au.

  • +2

FYI - the 512GB is discounted to $1333 on Amazon (Pink/Red/Midnight)

  • Anyone has their backordered orders, fulfilled? Mines been on the backorder since 14th this month, almost 2 weeks has lapsed…

    • I ordered the starlight - still nothing despite the sku going away, then coming back for back order

      • +1

Yeah, same here. A bit worried because lots of retailers (officeworks, JBs) are phasing out 13 mini…

        • +2

When I checked with OW last week, they mentioned more stock from Apple was overdue, so unlike JB it didn’t sound like they’re phasing out the 13 mini anytime soon—unless you heard different?

There does seem to be some delay in supply though, perhaps due to Apple prioritising the new 14 series models and/or the lockdowns in China. I also recall hearing/reading somewhere that the mini only has a small amount of manufacturing resources devoted to it anyway, given lower demand in general than the other models. I’m optimistic Amazon will come through… eventually.

          • @fraxinus:

            unless you heard different?

That is when I asked the salesperson at JBs when I attempt to buy one and they told me they are phasing them out. Don't know, feels like its phasing out everywhere in my eyes.

    • 03 October - still waiting.
Ordered on the 15th Sep. Would be nice to get an approximate date - very unusual.

      • Yup, checking everyday still nothing…

        • Don't know how I feel but man, next week, would be almost 4 weeks waiting for the mini, I think if its taking too long, sometimes Amazon would just cancel your order…

          • @cloudie9: Seems like no one has stock of the 13 mini except Apple - non at Officeworks or JB - so I guess there is a delay or shortage caused by the production of the 14.

Don't mind at the moment as I add more and more Cashrewards and Shopback vouchers to my purchase which get the price even further down.

            • @mini_wombat: Still waiting, as of yesterday is exactly a month waiting, my hope is fading each day…

              • @cloudie9: Haha … same here … I now fully applied my voucher balance to the phone. It's getting a bit long now - all the others (JB, Officeworks, GoodGuys, …) also have no stock. The 256GB variant and a few colours are now also fully removed at Amazon. Very strange and no communication …

                • @mini_wombat: I am glad at least you are still responding to my post! But yeah, they are all gone. All the good deals including from Catch gone too. Sigh, could have got onto that instead. But then again, like yourself, I got full $1k gift card sitting with Amazon, so def like to utilise that at least…

                  • @cloudie9: Assume others got an auto email on the one-month anniversary of their order from Amazon too?

We're encountering a delay in shipping your order. We'll make every effort to get the delayed item to you as soon as possible. We apologise for the inconvenience.

Here's hoping Apple redirect the resources from the iPhone 14 Plus (production reportedly paused due to low demand) to making our 13 minis!

                    • @fraxinus: I didn’t get that email but I’m still holding on…

                      • @cloudie9: I should mention I swapped (cancelled) my original 256GB order at $1036 for the 128GB version a week later when it was briefly reduced to $944, since that was all I was really after.

                        • @fraxinus: Yeah, I could have gone down to that not knowing that I have to wait out for this long. I'll just keep holding on…

“Apple iPhone factory hit with Covid-19 outbreak as Wuhan plunges into lockdown“.

Maybe why it’s taking so long to fulfill back orders?

    • What's odd though, Apple themselves have stock ready for dispatch anytime… which unless they get the priority over any retailers out there?

    • Thanks. That article makes it sound like a relatively recent event, so if our Amazon-ordered 13 minis are being made in that particular factory, if anything this could prolong the delay even further. Glad I wasn’t in a hurry to get my first iPhone.

Hopefully Apple will accelerate its manufacturing shift from China (https://9to5mac.com/2022/10/11/kuo-apple-china-supply-chain-…), though obviously that won’t help us with these orders.

    • Sounds like things have deteriorated…

      • I’ve cancelled and purchased directly from Apple using the 10% off gift cards from Woolies this week. Works out to be the same price as Amazon anyway, and I can get the base model which is all I need and trade in at the same time.
