Entique Australia - an eBay Scam Artist

Hey guys just wanted to share my experience with a seller 'entique_australia'.

I recently purchased a 'brand new' laptop from them which was a little under the price listed on competitors and other sellers. The sellers ebay rating was nothing of concern so I went ahead with the purchase.

Fast forward through to today, the laptop arrives and is definitely not in brand new condition. The box is a generic Lenovo one with the barcode/product info removed, the screen has clearly been wiped down. Most definitely is a return/refurb.

Having a further look into the seller on Google, (yes, should've done this before) they're a serial offender of this with many claiming they've reported them to the ACCC. Despite this, the seller is able to operate freely with many likely falling for this scam.

How on earth does eBay allow these individuals to operate and how can we stop them from continuing this dodgy practice

The sellers ebay rating was nothing of concern so I went ahead with the purchase.

10 reviews in the past 12 months, all of them "private listings". That is definitely of concern and not a track record of being good. You should have avoided like the plague as they're not a proper store, just some random. Looking at their purchase history it's mostly tech sites, so it looks like they just buy and resell stuff from time to time.

Anyway, just return it, problem solved.

Yeah probably not a good idea to make such a significant purchase from a random eBay seller operating out of their house just to save a few bucks.

So just open an "Item Not As Described" case with eBay and return the item for a full refund

  • What did the original listing say

    1) Don't buy expensive gadgets or tech off random places.
