Prices have been like this for awhile, pretty sure it was posted already.

Nexus hasn't been $0 on $49 cap before. I think most of those plans have come down by about $3 - $5 pm.

It's been $49 for at least 2 weeks now.

      • Yup the Galaxy Nexus has been on the $49 cap for a while now….

No need for the phones, would be better if its just a straight deal on their BYO plans

Tried other networks, there's no comparison

    • Ive just left 3 for Telstra, and I get 5 bars as frequently as I dropped out with 3

  • I pay 65 a month for the 16gb on Telstra plan.. bought it as soon as the 4s came out =)

    • Im pAying only $67/month ($59 plan) and got the 4s 32gb model. Worth the extra $2 a month. Oh and dont forget to get the $200 welcome credit

need another Family & Friend deal or I'll be switching to others(sadly but no choice with the high fees)

Hope you don't need reliable coverage…

It's a case of you get what you pay for!

      • My Optus mobile actually costs me more than my Telstra mobile >.<

    • Ridiculous price

    • has anyone tried renewing/upgrading their Friend & Family deal after their contract ends? I spoke to a Telstra store in SA and they said I cannot continue on post-paid plan (minimum $10/month) if I'm no longer Friends of Telstra staff. (Well i wasn't until i signed the contract at Melbo T-life :o)

I thought you could MRO another phone and go again for 24 months.

        • You can't as the Friends & Family deal is no longer active.

        • Contract period ends soon, so what happens after that?

        • Nothing changes unless you re-contract.

      • I called to upgrade handset. Plan stays the same ($10 min/month for $39 cap, no contract) and MRO bonus is still $15/month. So I got the HTC ONE XL for $10 handset repayments for 24months after mro bonus.
should be getting handset on 2morro…

    • call 1800 303 302, ask to re-contract,
      they'll ask what phone,

I said HTC OneXL and I should be getting it on Tuesday…

      • HTC OneXL looks like a decent phone. How much per month do you have to pay? Is there minimum pay like the old HTC Desire FF deal (that is $10 minimum + $10 handset = $20/m)?

        • yes, thats what I have to pay.

I actually work for Telstra and prices have been like this for almost 2 weeks. I know the plans can be a bit more expensive but what's $2-3 more for a super quick network for internet heavy devices. My value for money pick goes to the Samsung Galaxy S2 4G which is on the 59 Freedom Connect now. Only better 4G handset IMHO is the HTC One XL. Still can't shake my iPhone habit personally though lol

I'm in the process of switching from iPhone to Android :D

      • Take a good look at Windows Phones. I just got a HTC from Telstra with Windows Mobile 7.5, Mobile 8.0 will be released next week. Once Windows comes out with their new desktop OS I think the integration will be fantastic.

        • some say, wp7 can't upgrade to wp8.
make sure you check before buying.

        • You just can't be sure at all. Just have to wait till after the 20th when they have announced Windows Phone 8 then we'll know.

HTC One XL is a great phone, just have to watch out for low 4G reception draining the battery or if just switch it to WCDMA mode until coverage improves. I also find with Juice Defender switching data off when the screen isn’t on the phone is lasting me over 24 hours, something I've never had a phone do be it iPhone 3G or my last HTC Desire. So to get a faster phone, bigger screen and longer battery life is a win for me! It’s also got such a nice design and feel to it, the gorilla glass and polycarbonate uni-body is a massive improvement to the old generic plastic of phones yester-year…

A mate also switched from iPhone 4 to the One XL…didn't like it at first but having got used to Android/HTC Sense he wouldn't go back now. Welcome to life outside the walled garden that is iOS…

i was in jbhifi in pitt st mall sydney today and the sales assistant there (very cute girl i might add) said that telstra were releasing much more competitive prices for plan in 2 weeks time and if i was in the market wait 2 weeks.

pics of the girl or it didn't happen!!!!

      • maybe the cute asian chick, formerly of EB Games?

  • Actually, Telstra coverage ISN'T always better. I think it depends on where you live. While we've had Telstra coverage in the middle of nowhere at times, an area not far from here (which is only 15 mins outside of a large regional town (70 000 residents and probably as many tourists at any time, so not small) was always a black hole while I was on my Telstra contract. When it expired I switched to Woolies mobile, and get 3 or 4 bars there.

Sometimes there can be pockets where Optus is better than Telstra because of the geography of the area and having their towers in different locations. However, generally Telstra have superior coverage and more towers. Other thing around here is good luck getting a data connection with Voda or Optus. Telstra NextG on the other hand 4-5Mbps+ or 25+Mbps on 4G. For that reason I was happy to pay an extra $20/month extra for my Telstra service…

I really want to support our own teleco, but Telstra is just too expensive…

    • but they are the best in coverage in no doubt!

  • Time to start clearing stock for iPhone 5!!!!

    • It's coming out in October. Still too early I'll say.
