Which Is The Best Low Cost Mobile Month to Month or Overall Deal

Currently paying $10 p/month for kids phones to Spintel for 1GB month.
They have been so good with this the minister for communications and finance has approved a modest increase to the budget (15.00… it IS a 50% Increase!).
I am not sure whether to go TPG month to month or a 12 month SIM with 'x' amount of data included.
Kids tell me 5GB per month would be ample. I would love to get them on Telstra network (asking for too much here? not sure).

Recommendations would be very much appreciated.

    Boost 12-Month 140GB for $170 ($35 cashrewards cashback): https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/725596

It falls within all of your requirements (including Telstra network)

      Boost 12-Month 140GB for $170

It's $200 for existing customers and only 130GB

        They are not existing customers.

      • For existing customers, just port out and in again. Problem solved.

          Not worth the effort

          • @jv: Gotta be kidding. Do it once per year and you think it’s not worth it?

  • Boost mobile on eBay with a 12 month SIM is a great deal if you get discounted starter kits. It will struggle to be as cheap as $10/mth tho.

  • Moose Mobile

    • This. $8.80 for either 1GB p/m regular price, or 6 months promo for 6GB p/m.

      • Actually, promo is for 12 months.

          I stand corrected sir.

      • OP said giving 1 GB per month, So they'd be better of with the 60 GB plan

        • Why would they be better off with the 60GB plan rather than the 120GB plan which costs $1 less and uses the same network?

  • I use Lebara. Normally I buy from deamazingonline where the extra small plan is ~$130 for 360 days @ 6GB per 30-day + data bank of up to 200G and some international calls. New or existing customer.

Woolies 12 month plan 100gb for $150. Can get 10% off shopping twice a month unless they've closed the loophole.

    • +1

      Also uses the Telstra network.

    • My first year of Woolies cost $25 after using the 10%s
As a low data user I gifted my daughter 50gb do she is happy too
      .

  • Thanks for the suggestions thus far, will be looking into these ASAP.
Anyone know if any difference in service b/w Woolies and Boost?
    Seems the 2 most likely.

    • +1

both are telstra but Boost has access to whole network. Woolies is not meant to be as good but I haven't noticed any real deficiencies in metro Sydney

  • Best low cost mobile ?

The free ones, or the ones that earn you profit every month.

    Like CR Boost promos.

Just need to do sim slutting every month, If not into sim slutting then Coles Mobile discounted deal @$99 a year

    • Thanks, I would certainly do something like these, but too much trouble, I could not be bothered every month.

  • I switch between Amaysim and Catch for my kids - both use Optus and do 365 day plans that are around $120 but you can occasionally get them on special for $89 or $99 and cashback as well.

Wife uses Boost (for Telstra Coverage) which is more expensive. Also would recommend Woolworths mobile $150 plan if you do your major grocery shopping at Woolies. You get 10% off your shop each month which might mean your mobile plan is free if you spend $150 or more.

I used to use the cheap month to month plans but it was annoying if the kids accidentally went over their data usage for the month and you have to buy additional data packs for $10 per gig or something. I prefer the long expiry 180 or 365 day ones where they give you all your data upfront and then the kid can monitor and adjust their usage over the duration.

  • I can recommend CMobile for low cost month to month - get the choice of Telstra or Vodafone as your network. Not quite as cheap as some as the other deals already listed but for me, their customer service is worth it alone.

  • I am with Woolworths mobile its been nearly 1 year!!!

Everything was working great…but since few weeks back at the start of September service has really gone bad!!!

Cannot even get 4g most of the time my phone just uses and calls drop, internet issues arising.

Not sure of the reason is anyone else having these issues??

Has telstra purposely reduce the threshold for the service it provides to these low cost mobile plan companies??

    • I had the same problems over the last 2-3 months. Switched to boost.
