  • How many berths?

  • Is this legal in qld?

    • +1

Is anything legal in Qld? lol

      • Scooters are

      • I thought Qld had the most laid back regulations on crazy car mods in the country.

  • I wonder if I could hook this up to the back of my Vespa.

    • Not legallly as you would need it complianced i think. Same as any other trailer on road

      • Victoria does not require lightweight trailers to be registered. And if its not registered it doesn't need to be complianced. The question in this case would be whether it meets the rule that its not wider than the towing vehicle. And you'd have to fit lights. And you couldn't tow it faster than the speed rating on the tyres, but then that mightn't be a problem with a Vespa.

        • Thanks for correction.

Interesting about the lightweight in vic, but yeah the width behind vespa would be an issue

        • If overtakes your car then becomes a vehicle and requires rego

  • They see me rolling… they hating….

Is this able to enter the Mario kart 50cc?

  • Sticking one of these on my electric scooter. It'll work well.

Got the scooter for my 10 year old. I got sick of dropping and picking him up from school. He's been scootering himself to school since 8

    Great investment

    • Nice high yield investment you got there, did you opt to fit a basket to squeeze that extra 10% return?

    • +2

Get this trailer and he can take one of his school mates to school too. Additional revenue stream.

  • I feel like this is a bad idea.

    • You could very well be right but YOLO.

  • Beer wagon!

  • On a serious note, anyone know good places to buy/rent mobility scooters / electric wheelchairs? I assume the former is for outdoors only, and the latter for indoors only?

Are there any devices suitable for indoor and outdoor use?

This is for a sick, elderly person who is finding it harder to walk unassisted.

    • What is your location?

    • +1

Its easy to find a good used one on gumtree etc. Better than renting, I'd think.

You can get a small scooter that is OK for indoors and out, but avoid black tyres, as they mark floors.

If looking for an actual answer, there are a few questions to reflect on for the person you're talking about:

      • Are they eligible for my aged care? If so, are they registered and assessed? If it is indicated, there may be funding support for this. If not for a mobility aid, then for community access and/or home help as well. It can take a while, so if eligible then get on it sooner than later.
      • What state do you live in? For example, in QLD the Medical Aids Subsidy Scheme (https://www.health.qld.gov.au/mass) provides access to equipment. Unsure of equivalents for other states.
      • What is entry/exit to their property like? No point in having a mobility device if it can't get to the front door, in the house or have access to charging/storage etc.

As mentioned by another poster, contact this supplier or any local supplier to find out about this information. Your GP can also be a good starting point as they will know the local area and connection to appropriate services.

    • Pending budget you could go for a Pride iGo folding electric wheelchair. The company in the OP has them.

  • Do these have normal towbars that can fit onto the back of a car? I'd like a small trailer like this for my car

    • +1

Except in Victoria where light trailers don't have to be registered, a trailer needs to be complianced. It has to legal for road use. Lights. Wheels and tyres that are legal for road use and meet speed ratings. And even in Victoria they have to meet those rules, even if they haven't been checked and registered. All those things would preclude a trailer built for use behind a mobility scooter being legally towed behind a car.

There have been some very light trailers that have been manufactured that do. But the market wasn't very big, and registration authorities are afraid of very light trailers built to carry very light loads being loaded up with half a tonne of whatever and failing catastrophically at speed, so they are reluctant to pass them for registration. What's left now that you can buy are very light trailers that are clearly intended and built for towing behind motorcycles.

  • Just wondering if i can do Uber with this ?

    B double licence?

  • Can you add multiple to make a train?

    • Since we're not talking about a registered vehicle its hard to find any actual rule that says you can't.

  • Can this be attached to a manual wheelchair? Come with the appropriate mounting hardware?

  • Something I can buy today to use tomorrow. King of the retirement village.

  • Maximum torque? Thinking of replacing the 79 series with this😁

  • Something for the kids. Grannymobile!!!!

  • Anyone up for a few rounds of 'murica kart?

  • Let me check the tow rating on my motorised arm chair… Em.. not found… Now let's order three to make a sidewalk scooter train!
