Nokia G20 $129.00 (Telstra Locked) @ Coles

100

Bought this as we had to get the S21 repaired due to sudden overheating. Fairly okay device for the price. Had 4000 bonus flybuys points offer for $100+ purchase, so it is about $109.00 for us.

  • 48MP quad rear camera with night mode
  • 4GB RAM
  • 5050mAh long-life battery

Lol, the last deal on this phonewas also a cheap phone for repairs.

It's nice to see NFC at this price level. These also don't have 5ghz wifi.

I used a similarly priced Nokia 2.3 two years ago when my phone died. I was surprised at how good the experience was considering the price.

my 2 year old nokia got android 12 so will live another 12 months great value phones if you don’t go for a flagship …. not sure if it’s older models but they now have 3 year warranty and 3 years of updates with new models.

      • So you're saying this phone should also have android 12, then?

Might be dependent on Telstra, since it's locked. Android updates may be universal now, but I remember a few years ago some handsets had Android updates held back until the telcos worked their own bits in.

Edit: I just noticed the G20 launches with Android 11, and Nokia does provide 2 years of OS updates so by rights Android 12 should come to it if it's not already available.

  • Are these network locked phones?

    • Aye

Wonder if you could use MTK Engineering Mode apk to “unlock” the phone. Did it to an optus lock oppo and then i can use any network carrier

    • G20 comes with a MediaTek MT6765G chipset as per gsmarena. I'd like to give a go after S21 is back from repair. Would be glad if you could share instructions.

Search for MTK Engineer App by Edwar Ramadhan on Google Play store

"I bought an Optus A73 from auspost.

I use Boost, which runs on the Telstra network.
The phone was locked to Optus, and also had the 850 band disabled.

Enter #800# to open the MTK engineering settings.
Go to Telephony> Bandmode> SIM1 and enable the 850 band mode by checking the box and pressing SET.

Now enter #39757# and it pops up a message, reboots itself…. and now should be Network Unlocked.

No need to buy the 16 digit unlock code assigned to your IMEI… the phone still works fine on Boost after a reboot, but from what I understand it will revert back to locked after a factory reset.

edit: The single sim locked optus model has the same model number as the dual sim unlocked model; CPH1725.
In the #800" EngineerModel settings, it has SIM1 and SIM2… makes me wonder if the hardware for the second SIM is there in the optus model… the sim tray only has space for one tho..
