ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 3080 V2 10GB Graphics Card $1049 + Delivery ($0 to Metro Areas/ VIC/NSW C&C) @ Scorptec

751

First post, no bully

Just spotted this deal for an ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 3080 V2 10GB for $1049 that expires at midnight tonight (11:59PM 25/09/2022). Looks like it's the same deal from just over a month ago

Seems like a pretty good deal for an Asus Card. Still not the 12GB though

Very tempted to buy it myself to replace my 1080. Pray for me boys

That's a lot of down votes. Lol

        • +5

Yeah non-LHR usually talks shit alot no one pays attention lol.

        • +2

He's like that on every GPU post

something seriously wrong with him I wonder where the GPU touched him ?

      • Says the troll in the penalty box 🤣🤣🤣

    • +21

Those that bought over priced GPU's are encouraging others to waste their money too so they don't feel like fools.

      • +5

        It's buy now think later

      • +3

Take a moment to really think about what your saying. "Buy this so I don't feel bad about buying it at this price as well". Who tf says that?

Regardless I feel this is a shitty price for a 3080 10gb but the 4000 cards are a shitty price too. Not sure what's gonna happen with prices right now because everyone said hodl til 4000 now it's hodl til amd 7000 and what If that price is fked too?

If you want to game and you need a graphics card so you can enjoy 4k at decent frames since you just got a new monitor - you do you.

        • +3

'You do you', cheers, me is me advising people not to listen to the same people on repeat telling people that these prices are acceptable. So I'll keep doing that.

      • +4

I paid $1800 for my 6800xt red devil and i don't feel like encouraging others to buy overpriced GPUs to make myself feel better. That would be silly and mean i have some sort of mental condition.

        • +1

Any idea why non-LHR is constantly blasting the opinion of buy now, even at the beginning of the year when prices were still high?

I'd love for the 12GB 3080's to be around this price

        • +12

6900XT was $999 exactly this date 3 months ago. I wouldn't bite the same card for 100$ more 3 months after that.

          • @Masticccc: It's 16gb though compared to 10gb of the 3080. I'm having trouble finding a cheaper 6900xt, some people have mentioned they saw it under $1000 but can't seem to find one.

      • +4

3080 Ti for around 999 or bust! They still have lots of margins on 2 year old product at that price.

        • that's the dream

          • @MisterHexx: I am hoping the 7700XT at this price will have better RT than 3xxx and hardware FSR 3 that will get adopted sooner then DLSS3 which is from groundup. From what I have heard even AMD has decent 6xxx stock, so thier pricing will not be dearer either. But the hopes are that it wont be as high as nvidias 12GB shite as 6900XT was already 999 so a 7800XT would be around 1500$

    • +50

Everyone and their aunt is now redirecting to and injecting RDNA 3 hopium.

      • +25

AMD has been the good guy once or twice in history. Might as well snort that hopium. 1.6k for a gpu is extortion.

          • +23

@[Deactivated]: It will be cheaper than the 4070 though. Whats the rush ? Might as well wait for November to see what the prices are. The 4080 cards are a joke

              • +20

@[Deactivated]: The 4070 is $1,600 mate. Nvidia is only fooling themselves and cluess people calling it a 4080 12gb. Its just on par with a 3090ti, the only decent card is the 4090. Better off waiting for see what AMD do and they could come out aggressively if they want to gain a big chunk of market share. A 7800xt will most likely cost less than the so called 4080 12gb and out perform it. Amd cards cost way less to produce ,they can afford to come out a lot lower

                • -3

                  @S1nn3r86: Lmao
Traditionally the x70 has been about as quick as previous gen x80
To call the 4080 12gb a “4070” when it’s between 1.5x to almost 2x quicker than the 3080 (if we believe Nvidia’s slides) is plain wrong.

I’d expect the 4070 to be about as quick as a 3080 when it comes out at a lower price point, to accomodate those with budget constraints.

                  • +17

@2024: Still slapping a '4080' model number on the 4080 12GB is, in the least, completely deceptive when you compare the hardware to the 16GB version.

NVIDIA seem to be loud and proud in taking a big ol' shit on consumers recently. That's probably been the case since forever, but they feel emboldened to do so at the moment.

                  • +8

@2024: Why are you laughing '2022' when you are wrong? NVIDIA claim a lot of the extreme speed increases on the 4000 series over the 3000 series when you use DLSS 3.0 in performance mode with Frame Generation, that utilizes software based AI techniques, not raw power. We have no idea as to the negative effects of this yet, if any.

Traditionally the x70 is noticeably faster than the x80 of the previous generation, except when the RTX 2070 was introduced because they added in ray tracing hardware than didn't exist before. The RTX 3070 is noticeably faster than the RTX 2080 and the GTX 1070 is noticeably faster than the GTX 980. The x70 are more like the x80 Ti of the previous generation, the GTX 1070 ~ GTX 980Ti and the RTX 3070 ~ RTX 2080Ti.

                      @FabMan: Yeah that’s what I’m saying.
In time nvidia will release a card that’s like maybe 10-20% quicker than a 3080 call it a 4070

I lol because all this is based on one page from nvidia and speculation

The average increase x80 -> next gen x70 over the past 3 gens is 16% (which, to me, equals “about as quick”) according to that userbenchmark

Will wait and see if this 4080 12gb is =<16% faster than a 3080 - if it is, then I agree, it deserves the nick name of 4070

                      • +3

@2024: The 3070 is very similar to the 2080ti in performance in most games. Sometimes almost exactly the same, sometimes slighty less and sometimew beating it so im not sure why you're laughing 🤔 the 4080 12gb is a 70 series card. It even has a 104 chip like the 3070 had lol . The 16gb is on a different chip, has more cuda cores and memory bus size is increased. The 4080 12gb is just a renamed 4070 to justify the ridiculous price

                        • @S1nn3r86: So there is a difference between the 12 and 16gb - memory bus and core count. Where have I seen that before hmmmm 10gb to 12gb ring any bells?? 🤔

Anyway, second time I explain it, I’m laughing because there are no benches and people are already judging it, writing about it like they’ve got one in their hands.

Like I said, if it is does bench about as quick as a 3080 or 3080 ti this nickname is deserved

                          • @2024: The 3080 10gb and 12gb ..if thats what youre referring to were minor differences that resulted in a extremely minimal performance difference. Its not the same thing in the slightest, the 4080 12gb is 30 percent slower than the 16gb model in resident evill village and 20 percent slower in the only other 2 games that were rasterised with no dlss / ray tracing. Thats whole tier down in performance lol

                  • +2

@2024: IT is on par with the x80. The slides just throw in DLSS 3.0 AI generated slides (and added latency alongside) in the mix to make it look better.

More truth will come out once they hit independent review.

          • +2

@[Deactivated]: It wont be on par with a 3080 either.

            • @beeze: prob on par or slowe but… 2x-50x faster!!!!***

Everyone conveniently forgot what AMD did with their 6x50XT relaunch and still think AMD are their friends

        • +16

Big corporations are never your friends.
Having said that, AMD does have incentive to sell cheaper. They can cut a big slice out of GPU market by simply not having ridiculous prices
So I agree with the wait until RDNA3 announcement

          • +4

            @FireRunner: They don't really

            1. AMD are much more diversified through CPU, APUs (for PS5 and Xbox) as well as Datacenter
            2. GPUs are low margin products

Why divert wafers and take a hit on profit on already low margin products, when you can get current margin (on whatever low volume they sell), and instead make much more bank on Datacenter, in which they are eating Intel's dinner and supply can't keep up with demand?

            AMD aren't your friend

    • +8

Further price drops since they were so overpriced from the start ? soon as 4000 series releases these will drop more and also 2nd hand prices if that's your thing

        • +4

More like as soon as 4000 REVIEWS come out, 3080 will skyrocket

    • +13

This is the exact thinking nvidia wants lol. Why hold when our new cards are so expensive? Pls buy the 3000 series stock!

We'll wait for AMD at least to see how we are going.

      • yeah buy the 3000 stock, make less demand on the 4000 stock

        • Less demand for 4000 series means more stock so when AMD release their new series NVIDIA can undercut their offering without having to worry about the cards being sold out, beforehand they can still milk the early adopters for the big profit margins.

    • +2

No they are waiting for a $700/800 aud 3080

      • +4

Well they won't be waiting long. Maybe a month or two at most?

There are finally a large number of 3080s on eBay, the cheapest 5 or so with Buy It Now price around 860, fallen from around 900 a day ago.

Looks like miners are realising their cards aren't moving, and the price is falling daily, and if they don't drop price enough to sell them today they'll get even less tomorrow.

Just like what happened last time a big crypto slump caused dumping and great prices

        • +3

@GandalfTheCheap is on the money, sell rates are dropping on used cards and prices are slowly coming down. They have to start dropping faster if miners want to get any money.

The dropping prices of new 30x0 cards will also also keep pushing used down which will pressure new prices.

      • -3

actual copium, you really think prices will drop when your 2k '4080' thats as fast as a 3090ti comes out? watch prices go up lmao.

  • +11

Would this be an upgrade from my Nintendo 64?

    • +22

      No N64 > Nvidia

      • +5

N64 was developed in partnership with Silicon Graphics. No chance NVidia!

    • +1

Upgrade to Wii with ati graphics

      • Lol my Wii has a 'powered by IBM logo' blast from the past hahaha!

    • This made me laugh out loud

  • +15

Wouldn't pay $800 for this hodl until 4000 series watch all these prices drop further make the green team bleed

    • +4

doubt the prices will shift once the >$2k 4000 series gets released

        • From what I understand, 30 series (other than the 3090) will still be sold alongside the 40 series

        • +23

What do you get for shilling so hard for people to buy 3000 series at high prices? Genuinely curious because you seem to do it non stop in the comments of every post.

          • +11

@dazza-bo: He bought at a stupid high price despite everyone warning him, and is trying to convince himself and others that he was right all along, instead of learning a valuable lesson and moving on.

        • Madness. There are more 30x0 cards in the wild than any generation, and NVIDIA have locked in manufacturing for 40 series, even with the increased wafer prices you can't expect 3080's to skyrocket.

          • @Abaddon: Do they have a choice? Aren't TSMC insisting on all manufacturing moving onto the 4nm technique, no continuation of previous designs allowed?

      • Unless sales are poor from ridiculous prices

    • +5

actually coping lmao, waiting for a 4080 12gb for $2000 that performs like a 3090ti, when you could get a 3080 for $800 second hand and be 15% slower.

      • +3

        Those are NVIDIA benchmarks.

Wait for trustee reviewer benchmarks before making decisions

        • right… the reviewer benchmarks will show the 4080 is even faster than the rigged nvidia benchmarks show. hahaa. As fast or slower than a 3090 ti, for 2k is just embarassing. or a used 3080 for $800, obvious choice

          • +1

            @abjsdhasehasee: Why not a used 3080 for 400?

No one knows the future but that's what the trend line is pointing at within the next few months. Maybe weeks.

            • @GandalfTheCheap: because who in their right mind would sell a used 3080 for 400?? what are they gonna buy? not any 4000 series, not a 3090 or above, like what

              • +1

                @abjsdhasehasee:

because who in their right mind would sell a used 3080 for 400??

A miner who lists 20 of them at $850 (the current price on eBay), then $800 when they don't sell, then $700, then $600, and then panics that they are still not all sold. Because thousands of miners are doing the same thing and not enough people are buying.

                Thats what happened last time.

                • -2

@GandalfTheCheap: Ohh right.. because people definitely won't buy them at ~750 cause instead they can go and buy the $2000 3080 for 15% more performance. No

        • +2

And those are DLSS 3'd with Ray tracing. Once you factor in real games, I'd expect the 3090ti will trounce the 4070 in disguise in a lot of cases.

    • +6

I totally agree. I keep saying that 3080 10gb should be $799. shouldn't be long now

gpu makers and distributors alike keep on dreaming, but they will fold soon, I am sure.

      • +3

You're right, 3090's will be hitting $600 usd soon.

      • +18

Don't want to be the non-LHR guy, but I as a HODLer myself I don't trust the word "soon" anymore. People said after ETH merge, 2nd hand gpu dumps will affect new gpu price. And the result? No shit. 3080 10gb has been 999$ for around 2-3 months, and still the same now. Exactly 3 months ago the cheapest 6900XT was 999$ and now, 1049$ lol.
I respect anyone (including myself) to continue waiting for price drop after 2 or 3 or 6 or whatever months to get a gpu at their own "reasonable" price. But if you pull a trigger right now, you are not a clown or coward whatsoever. Time is precious, an extra 100-200$ to get a new GPU 2-3 months earlier is not a bad deal at all. On the other hand, if you are confident that your current gpu can hold on with your demand, then sure keep waiting. YMMV

        • I know, but there is little to no push for the retail market to reduce prices - they are not related to ETH merge, and they aren't selling 2nd hand GPU's.

only releases of new gen will give real pressure - and they understand that. time is against them, but there's still time. so they drop prices model by model starting from lowest tier, fueling it with occasional drops of mid and upper mid. the more the market is saturated, the more it's willing to fold - which results in better profits for them.

I know, "soon" is a shitty word, but soon enough. I'm in no rush, can easily hang on to what I've got for another 6 months. I know the situation will be different for others

  • +12

Agreed, don't know what he gets out of making the exact same comments in every GPU post.

  • +8

I won’t buy anything till AMD release their new graphic card. Fxxk Nvidia!

    • +1

It wouldn't surprise me Intel start selling Arc after Amd Rdna3 drop as well.
      Hold.

      • +3

Even the fastest ARC card is no better than a 3060Ti. That’s not a problem as such - but they better bring down the price accordingly.

      • +1

Don't think arc can compete with these level of performance right now. Perhaps few years down the line we'll be able to see some healthy competition.

  • 4090 or bust.

On side note: Does anyone know why were paying 500-600 extra for the 4090? 1600USD is roughly 2400-2500, why do we pay 2900+ for it here in Australia?

    • +7

Partly because US prices are pre-tax. Australian prices include GST.

    • -1

1599 x 0.65fx. Add 10% gst and the exorbitant freight costs and you’re close to 2900. Vendors need to make their margin for rnd and their own overheads. Tough industry.

      • Lol imagine getting negged for stating facts, people on ozbg just want everything for nothing. Losing proposition to please this crowd
