One year subscription is about $11.22 with this method for new users or $22.44 for existing users. Just to give a perspective of the value of 1 year sub in this bundle.

  • Can one unsubscribe any time after getting initial discount?
I wonder if there are similar deals for 11 mini?

    • Probably, but why would you want to? It gives you insurance if you destroy your camera.

  • +3

I wonder if there will be any promotions for DJI Osmo Action 3?

    • +1

The DJI is a much better kit in some ways, be interesting to see what 10bit firmware brings

      • In what ways?

        • +2

It does not require paid ongoing subscription. The camera is smaller. Oh yes and it's cheaper.

        • The set comes with 3 batteries, longer battery life, battery charger doubles as a power bank.
          DJI is cheaper.
Horizon lock on GoPro is better at 4k I guess, surely DJI firmware will have similar in future
And the magnetic mounting system on the DjI looks fantastic

          • +1

@DaTa: It looks like the DJI kit with the 3 batteries and such is $719 …
The $519 kit is just mounts and 1 battery…
            https://www.dji.com/au/osmo-action-3

The current Gopro bundle with a couple of batteries is about $560 if you dodge paying the subscription.

(I haven't really looked into the DJI so I wont comment on which is better, chances are different features will appeal to different people)

      • ooh didn't know 10bit was coming in a firmware update, will hold off until then, would be useful for grading auto-exposed action footage.

I think Insta and DJI have both over taken Gopro now. Almost seems to me that Gopro is also trying to make everyone buy direct from their store. Anyone buying from their store remember that you will be billed in USD!

        • -2

Never been billed in USD from the GoPro store, that’s complete nonsense.

          • @Mitch889: My sample size is one, but I was also billed in USD by GoPro (about a year ago).

            • @djkelly69: Ive been billed each time in USD. Keep forgetting and then when I see the card statement Im slugged the international fee as I've used the work cc

          • +1

@Mitch889: Agreed. Have never, ever been billed in USD. Proof of a purchase I'm about to make: https://i.imgur.com/zJPnecT.png

        • +1

GoPro much bigger sensor and much less low light noise than both Insta and DJI ;)

Insta 1 inch is marginally better (they lie about the 1 inch like phone companies do), but also more $$ :P

        • Yeah this is nonsense: they are comparable and competitive now which is great for us the customer and both excel in different areas, some reviews to gander

          Based on what?

If you look at image quality and capablity, GoPro has always been well ahead.

The last DJI action camera had so many problems I would not even call it a competitor, it did have better image quality in specific situations.

The Action 3 from DJI might have better potential but with important features like 10bit hiding behind "coming soon" its likely we are going to be waiting for that, then an update to fix the problems that update introduces.

          • @samfisher5986: Personal experience. I've gone through a few generations of Gopro now. Gopro couldnt work in the snow this year. Isnta360 worked without a problem. The snow footage was much better on the insta360. Battery life was way better on the insta. Just a much better camera to operate. No over heating on the insta either. Ive relegated my gopro as a stationary camera over my desk to do overhead timelapse lol

            • @Sammyboy: Yep won't work well in snow with blue battery, but white battery is fine. I notice the 11 is shipping with white battery.

            • @Sammyboy: My Gopro 10 worked perfectly in the snow. Also it has better quality then the insta360, do you have a comparison video that shows otherwise?

              • @samfisher5986: Not much but I do have some footage as I had the go pro mounted to a chest strap and the insta on a pole mounted to my backpack. The gopro barely worked for the 4 days I was up at Hotham this year.

                • -1

@Sammyboy: Not sure why you are comparing the insta to a faulty gopro…

Someone having a faulty Ferrari doesn't make a Hyundai Getz a better car.

                • @Sammyboy:

The gopro barely worked for the 4 days I was up at Hotham this year.

The old gopro batteries are notoriously bad in cold conditions, the new Enduro batteries are apparently much better…

        • Last Oct Gopro billed me in AUD through Paypal, and Comm Bank hit me with the 3% Int Tx Fee….

          • @FLICKIT: On the gopro website and final purchase screen its all in AUS$ which is what makes me keep forgetting and using a different CC. Check the paypal transaction though…It must have been in USD to get slugged the int fee.

            • @Sammyboy: I checked the Paypal transaction, it was AUD… Comm Bank charge the Int Tx fee on any overseas charges even if they're in AUD…

              • @FLICKIT: Never happened to me and I've bought multiple time, perhaps you were on GoPro's US site and not the AU one?

                • @demki: Nope… Invoiced and billed in AUD with GST and such, paid with Paypal in AUD, charged to my Comm Bank Visa card in AUD, but hit with International Transaction fee due to Gopro being an international/US merchant:

                  Invoice: https://i.postimg.cc/Gp9G2RYH/2021-Gopro.jpg
                  Comm bank: https://i.postimg.cc/MpWgrqh8/Gopro-Com.jpg

Maybe you have a credit card with no international transaction fees?

                  • @FLICKIT: I paid direct with CommBank card, came through as AUD with no transaction fee. Sounds like you were tripped up by PayPal.

                    • +1

@Mitch889: Quite possible…. Either way using Paypal helped me dodge the $70 subscription fee so it's all good, lol …

                      • +1

@FLICKIT: I used a prepaid Visa for that, charged it up just enough to snag the camera without the silly sub 😉 nothing about international or USD, just a straight AUD transaction.

I'm not keen on supporting a company banned by the US Government. Speaks volumes

      • -2

Oh is it? Had no idea. Definitely buying DJI now! Thanks

        • +2

I think he means the Chinese company DJI, not the U.S. company Gopro… (not sure of details)

Edit: yep US sanctions on DJI: https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-59703521
(part of the ongoing east-west political games I guess)

          • -1

@FLICKIT: Yes, I understand that. Definitely, do not want to be funding their games by my purchases.

            • @Musiclover: DJI have had a history of blatantly copying other company's innovations (look at what they're doing to GoPro right now. A simple example - look at the camera mount they've had for years. Direct copy of GoPro), then undercutting them (as it's rumoured that they have funding from the Chinese Communist Party), until they run them out of business. I refuse to support them in any way.

              • @ausse777: The mount gopro uses is just a generic mount, two parallel plates where a fastener goes through them. If anyone could patent that and prevent the world from using it - our world is doomed! Besides, DJI uses a magnetic mount with quick release which is a lot better than Gopro.

Otherwise - it is just a standard business practice, produce a similar product, sell it for less, take over the market. I would suggest maybe to use a little bit of critical thinking. This is not against you personally, I just hate lies and propaganda in any shape or form.

    • I had my heart set on the DJI for all the reasons you stated, but it seems they are having massive Focus issues, and its not been fixed in the last firmware update. It must be hardware which is a bugger. I think its then a bit much to buy the DJI when it doesn't focus or provide a picture;
      https://forum.dji.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=277149&ex…

      • Oh that's really bad! I will hold off on the purchase for a little bit more and see if it has been fixed or not. Thanks for the info.

  • +2

Bro i got the 8 and still havnt used due to covid. Are they like Asics kayanos release new versions with same crap

    • +2

The Gopro 8 had the GP1 chip, it was an "ok" camera but I think they were pushing the chip too hard, I had issues with it locking up quite regularly, I'd have to remove the battery to get it to fire up again, and it would switch off for no reason at times, it just wasn't very reliable… It also had the fixed non-replaceable lens which made me paranoid about damaging it…

I upgraded to a Gopro 10 last year, it has the new GP2 chip which I believe they're still using in the 11… A decent upgrade, I find it pretty reliable…

The 11 has a bigger squarish sensor so it's good for Tiktokers and the likes that want to make content for mobile users, they can make the tall skinny vids without having to turn the camera on it's side, there's a couple of other gimmicky new functions for filming stars at night and such, other than that it's much the same as the 10… Some claim it's worse in low light than the 10… (edit: also, the 10 comes with the old style battery, the 11 has the new Enduro batteries)

If you were considering the 10 or 11 chances are you'll be more than happy with the 10 but the 11 is a year newer, it will hold it's value for a year longer, and the bundle price is fairly attractive,….

At the end of the day if you're not really using your 8 it's probably pointless upgrading unless you can offload your 8 for a good price…

  • Anyone got a myunidays account that i could borrow? :D

  • would JBHIFI price match this deal?

  • +1

    Thanks OP, bought one.

I was going to get the Hero 10 bundle a while ago. Hope 11 works out well.

    • Welcome!

  • Can anyone share their delivery experience with GoPro? How long does it normally before you receive your order? Thanks.

  • Has anyone got shipping confirmation yet? Mine is still stuck at payment authorisation pending.

    • I just got my shipping notification. I ordered (with the cancellation trick for the subscription) at around 1am on Monday.

      • +2

Nice! my shipping came through..finally. Spoke to customer service and they advised that payment authorisation is only completed when the delivery agent ships the item which might take 1-2 days.

      • Curious as to why you'd want to cancel the subscription? It gives you 12 months of insurance for the camera in case you break any part of it. Also 30% off a lot of things at gopro.com.

        • The camera replacement costs $150 for a 10, and usually $200 for the latest release camera, it's a bit pricey really, it's not a free replacement service…

The discount on accessories is only really cost effective if you purchase them with a new camera due to the shipping costs, and batteries can only be shipped with a camera…

          • @FLICKIT: Fair enough. I guess it depends if you think you’ll need it. And you also get the full Quik app, and unlimited cloud storage, although I don’t use that. I’ve used the insurance many times though, over the last few years. GoPro Support have even given me a free replacement twice, so I wouldn’t be without the Subscriotion. I suppose it depends on how risky you’re being with the camera. I saying that, I dropped my Max once, from knee height, and it cracked the screen, so you just never know. I think that was one of the free replacements they gave me.

            • @ausse777: What did you tell them to get a free replacement? That you dropped it from knee height and it broke? Expected camera to be more durable? Cheers

    • Ordered the bundle this afternoon at 3:48pm, and it shipped at 7:06pm. I was already a subscriber though, so maybe anyone in future might try subscribing first, and then purchasing the camera later 🤷🏼‍♂️

  • I ordered yesterday and received an email just now saying they cannot charge for the subscription fee and need me to update the payment info.

    • Just got the same email about updating payment info and they'll give it another try on their end.
Received shipping info this evening as well, ready for UPS to collect parcel containing bundle.

      • Received a 2nd notice

    • Did you end up getting dispatch notice, GoPro bundle arriving this coming week? I am expecting to receive mine this week from UPS.

      • I'm expecting to receive it today.

        • Noice, likewise

Just bought the "HERO11 Black + Accessories Bundle" - thanks for this! Amazing that they're offering the bundle at the same price as just the HERO11 + 1 battery + Sim card. Great deal.

  • anyone had a unidays code that i can use?

    • +1

The bundle price had gone up now, but they are offering camera + dual battery charger for $629.

I'd say this is an even better deal now!

      UNI-GH7V-GF97-NT67-2DT7

      • Even better deal? What for the charger? The bundle deal already included an extra battery.

        • Similar value overall.

This deal has two extra batteries + dual charger. Bundle was one extra battery + some attachments that aren't useful to everyone.

      • sorry but it seems that it has been used, can you grab me another one?

        • Can’t message you. Here’s another

          UNI-FSZ7-P2K7-C5P6-KWN9

  • for some reason it doesn't give any discount anymore

  • Is this still available? Accessory bundle now listed as $709 for me.

    • HERO11 Black + Accessories Bundle
      97

      HERO11 Black + Accessories Bundle

      Total

      A$629.95

  • Any idea, if OW does price beat?
I am asking as nobody mentioned about it.

  • Interested in this but like the idea of insta360 no pole output. Any first hand opinion? Thanks

  • Looking to buy a “waterproof” camera to use on family holidays at the beach and also when snorkeling/shallow scuba diving. There aren’t any new underwater cameras available anymore (like the Olympus Tough TG-6), so I’m looking at an action camera. Not a fan of the “fish eye” effect on the GoPro. Can this be overcome on the Hero 11, and is this effect also there on the Insta and DJI that people are mentioning above?

  • Thanks so much!

  • +2

Paypal trick still working. Ordered on the 1/11/22 and it got shipped today :)

  • Bought it yesterday with the PayPal trick. Total comes to $543.16 using uniday discount code as well. Got the shipment confirmation email same night. Does anyone know if I can claim TRS on this? The invoice only show a Australian GST #, are they the same as ABN number? Cheer

  • Has anyone received their go pro from GoPro website? I’ve heard horror stories about people receiving an empty box and GoPro said chase it up with ups.

I am awaiting for Black Friday sale and see what they offer. Also see if jb other retailers drop the price

    • I received a 10 instead of 11.

They basically said its UPS and when UPS clearly say the box is not damaged, they told me to return it and they refund for the GoPro 10. It's a joke to deal with.

And there are people who are chasing them for the refund which I dont think they will receive.
