Maxi Cosi EURO NXT Convertible Car Seat Argento $299 + Postage ($0 SYD C&C/ to Sydney Metro with Code) @ Baby Kingdom

70
Sydney

An older model (released ~2015) in the Maxi Cosi line up, but the EURO NXT Convertible Car Seat has all the important features of the newer models, such as GCELL, ISOGO, AirProtect and Cool Baby wicking fabric.

Suits new born to 4 yrs, with extended rear facing for up to 30 months.

Seems like good value compared to other baby seats. Use code Sydney for free shipping to Sydney Metro areas (saves $9.99 for me), or free click or collect from their 3 Sydney stores.

Description from website:

  • ISOGO is a patented ISOFIX compatible soft latch system, which enables you to secure your child’s car seat quick and safely in 3 simple steps. Check the website: isogo.

  • Cool Baby wicking fabric. This unique fabric draws moisture away from your babys skin, allowing air to flow in, keeping baby cool and comfortable.

  • QuickFit Harness System adjusts harness height from the front in one easy step without removing the seat from the car

  • noob question, first time parent. Is it easy to install the seat by yourself the first time?

    • +1

yes, very easy. Either ISO quick connectors or seat belt. Harness also.

    • +1

It's pretty straight forward, just follow the instructions and you'll be fine!

    • +3

Not sure about other states but in Vic they have a free checking program. https://www.kidsafevic.com.au/road-safety/free-child-car-res…
I thought I had done up the iso fix belts tight enough but the checker climbed in my car, put their weight on the seat and REALLY tightened it! Once you have seen it once it is easy to replicate yourself. Good for peace of mind.

    • Definitely get it checked first time via a professional. They are a bit weird and the instructions suck so you have to learn. It's easy after a few goes (which might not happen until second kid)

    • if your car is anywhere near modern (ie. last decade) it should have isofix which is about as easy and secure as it gets

ive never heard of isogo but it just seems like the same thing, compatible, but without paying licensing???

  • Is this for use in convertibles?

    • +2

Only if the roof is down

  • This looks extremely comfortable

How does this rank value wise compared to others in the market?

  • +2

Pretty good. 30 month rear facing is good. You'll need to upgrade at 4year, but it's still worth it.

Some Infasecure options are similar, but this is still a great deal. The only drawback for me, is the weird piece that folds out when it's rear facing.

  • Wonder when the date of manufacture is? Hope not 2015 as you'd only have 3 years of use left

    • Will update when i receive mine. However, it is unlikely they just produces one batch upon release and then just stops in 2015. That said, it may have a productuon date pre-2020, hence it is in run out or clearance now.

    • +1

The date label on the seat is April 2021.

I've got one of these - purchased early 2020, and still use it.

It's fine, but I would highly recommend new parents check out http://childcarseats.com.au which is basically ANCAP ratings for baby car seats.

A major takeaway of looking at this site is that price does not equal safety. You can find some cheaper seats that score higher than pricey ones. Don't let the marketing and price tag fool you - check the independent safety tests.

I've found Mother's Choice and Infasecure to be affordable brands with safety just as good as Britax/Maxi-Cosi. It is dependent on the model though, so be sure to check.
