OLED panels don't need an LED backlight for illumination.
So when the TV needs to display black colours, it simply turns off the pixels, which gives an excellent contrast ration and no backlight bleed.

It's more than that. other technologies such as Mini LED and FALD cannot even handle switching individual pixel brightness up or down.
Which means if you have 2 pixel next to each other that are supposed to be fully black and max brightness white, the black pixel will appear as greyish colour due to the brightness of that area being turned up by the max brightness white pixels.
This usually is very obvious if you have subtitle turned on.

Oh this is tempting. I was looking at the Samsung, but the lack of polarized layer has me a little worried due to daylight in the lounge room. While there's no direct light sources to hit the screen, there would be enough ambient light coming in from the side to probably see the purple.

I couldn't wait. I've been "researching" for over a year and spent way too much time reading/watching reviews. It's the cheapest since release so for me the time saved and no more FOMO feeling is worth the purchase now. Wife is unhappy either way so might as well enjoy it now
