So everyone into NBA probably knows you can get league pass for around half this price with a VPN. I used Brazil last season for around $100AUD for premium (which lets you watch on 2 devices at same time plus get a full play by play replay of each game that condenses down to about 30 mins).

But for those that don't want to use a VPN to signup for whatever reason, the league pass pricing in Australia has significantly reduced (off memory used to be like $400+). At this price, I'd have no issues paying Aus pricing if for whatever reason the VPN method stopped working.

UPDATE: those using VPN last season (myself included) I'm unsure if it will work upcoming season with the new apps. When I sign in it doesn't recognise my subscription (on android phone and amazone fire tv). However not sure if that's just because my subscription hasn't renewed yet or what. Don't think I've had that issue prior years though before season started

          I used South Africa a couple of seasons ago (let it auto renew last year I think) and they had Paypal a couple of years ago. Not sure if any still have Paypal as an option?

              @offthetap: Thanks for letting me know. So none of the regions use Paypal anymore? I am guessing this was a better way for payment to go through when using a VPN. Seems like people are still having trouble subscribing as it's not letting payments go through when using credit card if it's not an auto renew.

        My understanding is that leaguepass has started to implement region blocking. Some users are getting this error

        out of country blocked because client is neither in home country nor in content portability region

        I guess I'll know for sure when the season starts, my pass is via South Africa.

    Splitting with a mate for $105 is a pretty good deal. The South African one just auto resubscribed for me at $73 so only needed the vpn for initial sign up. About 5-6 weeks in they do a 50% off Black Friday (25th nov) deal as well for those who want the finals and don’t mind missing the first part of the season.

      Have you got premium for $73 via SA? I want to be able to watch on two screens at the same time, but the price is over double (60% +) to upgrade to premium. Going to send them a message to see if I could get a discount as my auto renew price is only 443.99 or something, but that is only regular league pass with one screen.

        No SA doesn’t offer premium. And there are a few issues watching live games on different devices right now. (It makes you give your location so it won’t play blackout games) This isn’t a limited time deal. It’s the normal SA price so no rush to subscribe. Id get premium aust during Black Friday.

          I think they do this season as I saw the purchase option listed there when I had the VPN turned on.

          I think I'll just let this auto renew for now and maybe create another account for Black Friday if there is a good AU deal. However, bit worried about closing this SA one as people are having trouble paying when changing regions. I am currently paying 443.99 for regular league pass and that is still a pretty great deal. I paid the full NBALP price for 15+ years and don't really want to go back to that as it was a huge ripoff.

          Question for those that have gotten black Friday or discount deals, is the following season billed at full price, or does it renew at a similar price from the previous year? The reason I ask this is because it seems you're paying $73 (was this a typo, did you mean to say $37?) compared to the lower price I'm paying. It seems mine is renewing at a similar price to what I paid last year.

          I've only tried watching on PC so far. Haven't tried on Android TV yet. I didn't realize there is issues watching on different platforms.

        Something strange is going on.

        I too received a notification:

        Your Season-Long League Pass Premium subscription will renew for the 2022-23 season on September 29, 2022 with no action required by you to continue your access. The billing information on file will be charged TRY 439.99 at that time. Price shown is inclusive of any Value-Added Tax (VAT) applicable in your jurisdiction.

        But when I login to my NBA account using Turkish VPN it shows me I'm now on "₺869.99/YR + applicable taxes" subscription.
        I wasn't actually charged this price yet as my payment info is invalid (which is expected), but wtf?

          I've got regular league pass via SA, but it only allows to watch on one screen at a time. When I got it two years ago, there wasn't an option for premium.

          Did you definitely get Premium via Argentina? I want to upgrade to a country that has Premium so I can watch on two screens at the same time.

          What payment method did you use with Argentina? When I signed up via SA, they had Paypal as an option and that went through fine. Bit worried about cancelling and my credit card not being accepted if signing up via somewhere like Argentina or Turkey.

      Both a mate and I have the Argentina, with the NBA releasing new apps using Microsoft technology it didn’t recognise it on google tv and the app didn’t work properly either when we tested it last week, so we cancelled before auto renew and will pay the $100 each for the Aus one

        Edit, works fine on my android. Had to go through the accepting new cookies etc. I rejected all until I got in. Clicked on live NBA TV, then I had to accept location usage.

        Still works fine.

        I'll try on google and smart TV's tonight.

              @bohn: We both had existing accounts for a few years, the app on phone (mine was sketchy it worked then it didn’t) is useless to us we need google tv for the big screen which doesn’t work we are both lazy so aren’t willing to hoop jump over it, appreciate it may be different for others, we just cut our losses and cancelled before it renewed in Argentina and will go halves in the Aussie one. NBA are clearly working on it so it can only go further down hill

                firetv - games work, nba tv live doesn't. same story for aussie league pass account though

                also if i use an argentinian ip for the firetv on my argentinian account, nothing works!
                if I use my aussie IP, everything works but NBA TV Live.

                It's a shambles

    Very interesting with the new app. I was about to let my Argentinian subscription renew but thought I would test after reading this thread and when logged in to Google TV with Chromecast it is not recognising my subscription.

      I've been trying this for years, too, with the NBA App on Playstation. Never worked for me. I think I'll jump on the AUS subscription, just so I can use it. It'll make my life a lot easier

      I'm in the same position as you. The Android TV app doesn't appear to recognise my active subscription. But via Chrome on my desktop, it works fine.

    This post was a reminder to check my subscription and it's showing my plan is 443R/year - I had forgotten that I used a Russia VPN to subscribe. This works out to be like 11 bucks! Should I keep it?

    Also, the weird thing is I received an email about my subscription which says it's due for renewal in ZAR (South African currency).

      I would check accessing your account via League Pass and see if your subscription is active. I had an Argentinian Subscription valid until mid October and I checked on Google TV and it said I had no active ones and tried to get me to sign up to Australia

      I am in the same boat. My current subscription should have been active until mid october and in previous years it had shown that and when it would resubscribe.

      Seems NBA has caught on to VPN's and it blocking it. Curious to know if anyone has managed to successfully sign up (not renew) with a VPN and have it show in their account when using an app or device

      kayo has espn which shows the nationally televised games (maybe 3-4 games a week?). Those televised games heavily skewed to the large market teams.

      To put the number of games into context, there's 30 teams each play 82 games regular season. This lets u watch everyone of those games

    Google TV/Chromecast user here with South African membership due to renew in a few days. New app working fine on phone and android tv for me. I did try sign a friend up last season with a vpn and ran into problems so guessing NBA was getting onto it and then offering these price drops. I was going to switch to Argentina but after reading the issues people are having I will pay the $70 with SA. I am eager to get the premium product which I dont think SA offers, also couldn't see it in the Argentinian offering. Good luck all!

      There is no lie to your statement. We are the biggest uptake country of league pass outside of the US and it's one of the most expensive. We are also the biggest gamblers so it goes hand in hand.

    FWIW I just relogged in on my Sony tv. Watching an old game no issues. The app definitely knows I’m in Australia and the app renewal are aust monthly prices. But I have a South African subscription.
    The email says the renewal will be charged tomorrow.
    Under manage apps it says my subscription is current until October
    Lots of conflicting information
    The app last updated 20/9/22 so would be the current one

      I'm getting an error saying I'm out of region. I also received an email saying my subscription was going to renew tomorrow for 329 Turkish Lira. The website says it will renew on 18 October for 129 Lira. Not sure what's going on but I decided to cancel as I didn't want to take the risk.

        I doubt it would be 129 Lira. Think email is the most accurate.
