  • How manyof these would be needed for 600m2?

I recently spent $100 on weed and feed from Bunnings and it hasn’t done anything at all to the weeds.

    • You said weed and feed so I assume you have lawn. This will kill everything including lawn (non-selective).

      • Yes, there are several types of grass growing but it some sections now I just want to nuke everything and lay new turf.

Disappointed with this stuff though, it did nothing to the clover and other weeds.

        https://www.bunnings.com.au/yates-4l-buffalopro-hose-on-lawn…

        • I find most of the selective stuff not very effective. These days I just nuke everything.

        • If you want to Nuke then this stuff will do the trick. Check the directions for mixing ratios. You might need to repeat after two weeks to ensure total death!

    • Google "selective herbicide". Glyphosphate in this product is non-selective.
Plants that resist it usually due to just not enough dose, eg, youd need to inject it undiluted into a tree for any effect.

      • It can kill trees?

    • Weed n feed is useless. Had same problem and I managed to get Yates Support issue me a gift card for the value of my purchase.

  • Anything that actually works on Oxalis? Glysophate seems to kill the original plant but the darn thing leaves 10 seeds in the ground and then they all grow anyway. I'm hoping there's something that neuters the seeds from growing too

Acidic sprays are even worse as they just kill the foliage :/

  • Will this kill what has started becoming a tree? Or should I just gasoline it?

    • It will definitely, just takes more depending on the size.

    • Cut the tree and poison the root.

      • With what?

        • with this painted undiluted onto the stump as soon as you cut it down

    • Gasoline it for sure. More fun and much faster.

  • Hi Rep, or anyone else for that matter!
Looking for any suggestions on winter grass/weeds, clover and broadleaf weeds? Need something that kills everything except my Tiff Tuff Bermuda (couch grass)

    Thanks!

  • What is the most lethal yet cheap weedkiller out there? Pound for pound nuclear weapon of weedkillers

failing that most concentrated glyphosate for cheap?

  • I have a driveway that is full of weeds, after being 6 weeks away that I want to nuke They all grow between my paved driveway. Will this stuff work for it? Also, how long do I need to make sure kids are away?

    Got 2 young kids.

    • +2

Since Glyophosphate has been listed as causing cancer I wouldn't trust much that the label says when it comes to kids.

Boiling water is great on driveway weeds and you get INSTANT KILL which adds the benefit of instant satisfaction and its almost FREE!

      • That is awesome, I'll try that before but might get 2 x 5l as spare. Just never know at that price.

      • Pretty sure that list also includes red meat, processed meat, alcohol, sugary drinks (which includes soft drinks and flavoured mineral waters and energy drinks ) and it also includes sunshine

        • Yeah but meats are delicious, sunshine in moderation has health benefits and its hard to avoid and alcohol helps Ozbargainers get married since 1998.

Glyophosphate on the other hand is not always necessary and if you can avoid exposing your kids to it why wouldn't ya? Admittedly I use it all the time but I'm more cautious with handling and washing up afterwards than back when Monsanto said it was aok to mix with your cordial!

    • This will work to wipe out the weeds, and is safe for kids/pets once it has dried

  • Thanks got 3 :)

    • +1

      3 :)

      cute… two belly buttons…

  • usually use something similar for driveways, footpaths and so on

Something to consider before buying online from Mitre 10.
I bought an item on special back in March and still do not have it, but it has been in stock online ever since at full price.

Mitre 10 does not have a phone number to ring, so you need to email and select a store closest to you.

I have had ZERO replies or phone calls and I have twice called to ask asked the closest store and they said "oh it's the Covid thing and things are a bit slow".

I called them another time to order the item to see what they'd say and they said they could order it and have it their asap. More than likely under 2 weeks.

I cannot see any other option to contact Mitre 10 about the order and the reps of other sites do not respond to me asking for help or an alternative contact.

    Worst online purchasing experience ever.

    • That's a good reason to -ve the deal.

      • Not every media company owner likes to accept the naked truth!

    • +1

Send us a PM with your order number as we have a team dedicated to online and they respond within 24 hours

Thanks very much for reaching out.

I have messaged you and I'm looking forward to any help you can possibly provide.

        • +1

Cheers, rattle, it looks like this sprayer could be handy with the Zero. I have escalated this to the online team to assist and reach out to you

  • It is crazy how much weed killer costs now. Is it ever going to return to normal pricing? Hortico 360 for like 10 bucks would make 50 litres, now everything you buy is diluted to hell.

  • While we on topic.

I have cut 2 small trees, its trunk (diameter 20cm) are still sticking out. Already cut close to the soil but i cant pull it out. Root too deep/strong.

Is there any poison or something i can put to weaken its trunk and root, so one day i can pull it completely?
But need to be safe for the soil around it.

    • +1

You either hire a stump grinder and grind the stump to sawdust.
Or you simply dig it out - you'll need a saw to chop the runner roots away as you dig down.

      • Tried the second option… too hard. We dig surroundings but still it doesnt even move…

No other option to make it rot faster?

        • The stump grinder.

Sawdust doesn't take long to decompose 👍

        • +1

We would second a stump grinder as an excellent solution to remove a stump

    • We used to use a Trewalla Monkey Grubber for dropping trees and pulling stumps ,would rip those little babies right out of the ground .Had a 20 ton pull :- ) .

      • maybe overkill for my case but hey i like the name!

Wasn't Hortico's Glyphosate 360 bought out by Yates?

We used to be able to buy the orange 1L bottle for like $12. It's concentration was 360g per 1L.
Now we are getting ripped off by Yates and the like flogging off much more diluted product (circa 100g per 1L) and being charged more than double for what is basically more water and much less active ingredient.

    Disgraceful.

My advice is buy this Glyso 360 instead: https://www.mitre10.com.au/earthcore-glyphosate-weed-killer-…

It's $19… still a rip off when Hortico's was $12, but at 360g concentration will make nearly 4 times as much as OP's product.
No way RRP is $26. Not even close, not for Glyso 100. Even if you buy 3 of OP's at $18, you're still worse off than just getting this one I've linked to.

    This isn't a deal, and I don't get why it's got over 100 votes.

    • Why the negs? Isnt OP correct?
I spose i bought 3 for 18 bucks, and 1 bottle of this is still more potent!

  • i am a noob and my yards are messed up with all kinda weeds. So using this will not kill my winter ciuch right?
It will kill only the weeds right?
Can i use this straight after mowing my lawn?

    • It's Yates Zero so it will kill everything invluding Grass. Look for weed n feed solution to kill only weeds from grass.

    • Any experience with vines?

  • also note that while they recommend 100ml/L as the mix ratio most weeds will die at 50 ml/L
As a side note Roundup 360 give a mix ratio of 10ml/L and the super concentrate 570g/L has the same mix ratio
Also note that while Glyphosate will kill a lot of plants it won't kill all I regularly spray Mondo grass and Agapanthus with a 3.6gm/L mix to kill weeds including Kikuyu with no ill effects to either of these plants

  • Just wondering how people are distributing the weed killer?

I've got one of those hand pump pressure sprayers but it works like crap and they keep breaking on me. Is there an easier (but still cheap) method?

  • +1

$15 to deliver kills the deal not the weeds

Half price at Coles - Brunnings Glyphosate 100g/L Weed Kill, $10,
1 litre consentrate makes up to 50 litres, although they recommend 20:1

  • All overhanging tree next door issues solved:

Get a free syringe from any chemist with a fake tattoo. (all druggies are eligible for free syringes)

Get a quiet brushless drill motor

2mm bits are on special Nuff said!

  • If you can't drink it, then don't use it on your garden!!!!!

Glyphosate = poison. This CHEMICAL kills everything including bees and can easily get into the food chain.

Please research more friendly ways to remove weeds, toxic 'quick fixes' are only there to increase profits at any cost. And I'm horrified how many comments the Mitre10 rep is making to get everyone to buy this stuff.

It's banned overseas for a reason, but Australia is a common dumping ground to fatten corporate bank accounts. WE need to wake up and stop being so gullible when corporate marketing says it's 'safe'……they said the same about thalidomide, asbestos, stone benchtops & C-19 💉💉💉. And look how they all turned out!

One quote from the Netflix series (Dirty money)… "Money can't buy ethics" 😢🤦🤷

Garden beds can easily be made to prevent weeds with layers of cardboard/newspaper then mulch; any weeds which make it through are easily removed by hand. Close the gate before the horse bolts! 👌

And as others have mentioned, boiling water or even a cheap hand steamer works just as quick without having to wear a Hazmat suit.☮️🙏🇦🇺

  • Thanks for that OP - have purchased for pickup at my local Mitre 10.

Could I ask a question tho?

If I use this in my garden pressure sprayer, then if I clean the sprayer thoroughly, will it contaminate the sprayer and kill my other plants if I use the sprayer afterwards? Or do I need to buy a special separate sprayer just for this?

    Thank you!

    • +1

I am not an expert, but when I use 360g/L glyphosate, I typically wash my sprayer out with dish soap, then rinse thoroughly several times and let the sprayer dry while opened up. I've not used this stuff with glyphosate + nonanoic acid, and you should read the instructions which should tell you enough to know, but once the product dries its usually safe to walk on (if you believe that about glyphosate lol). Hence, i think after washing and letting the sprayer dry it should be OK. Note also that you should run some soapy water then the rinse water through the actual sprayer to clean out any product in the nozzle assembly

      • Thanks for the advice GenghisGun 😊
In your experience, after you've cleaned it as per your instructions you've used the same sprayer on other plants and they're OK?

        • yeah its been fine for me. I only use the one sprayer for various herbicides, pesticides and no issues. but I'm meticulous to wash it out after using glyphosate. also I've not used the glyphosate+nonanoic acid so don't know if the acid is residual any worse after rinsing

    • +1

You're just meant to give it a rinse and run thru so clean tap water apparently.

      • +1

Thank you for your advice misguided_will

    • +1

We would recommend a different sprayer, but if the budget is tight, triple washing and flushing system with bleach/soap to remove and left over poison

  • Hello Rep, will this product kill vines on fences? Is 1:10 ratio (as per spec) sufficient? Is there something more concentrated?

    G'day everyone.
I just wanted to create a new post here to let everyone know that "mitre10official", messaged me and I had a call from the store not too long after to say that the order in in.

That is the first call from the store since I made the order in March ( I have called them), so not happy with them, but I am rapt with how quickly this team member (mitre10official) assisted me here.

Hopefully everyone has a lot more "Mighty Helpful" Mitre 10 staff at their local store.

    Have a great day everyone.

  • 3 pages of people who paint their yards in glyphosate is a little concerning lol say good bye beneficial insects ☢️

    • -3

So you allow weeds to run rampant in your garden, under the guise that it's beneficial for insects?

Drama much? It's a weed killer, no one is using it to kill every plant in their garden.

      • -1

No I just mulch and pull weeds occasionally

It's not a weed killer it is a non-selective herbicide, meaning it will kill most plants.

        It also kills beneficial insects (needed for a healthy garden and earths eco system) unlike these 'weeds' you are referring to;

The International Organization for Biological Control showed that Roundup (glphosate) caused mortality of live beneficial species including Thrichgramma, predatory mites, lacewings, ladybugs, and predatory beetles

The soil run off ends up in estuarys and drinking water catchments .. one of the reasons it has been banned in the EU/uk
It has a half of 140 days and will continue to be taken up plants by plants for 2 years or longer !

It's just bad stuff and literally is a cause for drama

  • Did anyone actually get their delivered order? No updates or delivery of mine yet.

    • +1

DM us your order number so we can look for you, as we have had close to 12,000 go out the door

      • thanks all sorted, I emailed the customer support who sorted me out (being sent to store then they will ship to me)

    • I had to phone the 1300 number yesterday and 10 minutes later had a call from the store to say pick up was ready some 10 days after i ordered it. Pretty poor (ordered 6 because i hate insects)

  • +2

I got mine today. Looking at the packaging this product is actually terrible value.

Yates Zero Rapid 1 Hour (500ml) makes just 5L of spray
Yates Zero Weedkiller (500ml) makes 125L of spray

    • You need to concentrate…

    • +2

I agree with guidedlight! I got mine today and I think these bottles are super old. DOM says 04/16 !!!! April 2016 if I'm reading it correctly.

      • +1

mine is 05/16. @mitre10official can you please confirm if this is May 2016 or 16/05/2022?

        • +1

I've spent almost 30 years working for manufacturers and have never seen anyone do DOM as day/month. It'll be May '16
