Are There Any Places That Can Build Your Pc Then Ship It to You?

I really don't want to build my next pc and accidentally break it.. I just troubleshooted some simple stuff on my current pc and yeah that gave me anxiety.

So I'm looking for and services that can build my next to pc since the prebuilt market doesn't seem to be doing 5800X3D builds.

I'm wondering if something like this exists where a person gets all the parts and builds it for you then ships it to you?

Last time I did this was from gumtree and the guy was trustworthy but I'm looking for legit businesses now.

I plan to do a 5800X3D either 3080Ti or 6950/6900 XT 64gb ram 1x gen 3 ssd 3x sata 3 ssds build for the case I'm leaning towards a corsair 5000D but honestly open to any other good ones I think PSU I can get away with 850 watts but don't mind 1000 watt if it's more safer motherboard just needs WiFi and enough slots to accommodate the above

I just feel much safer a professional build it so where can I pay someone to get this done

Where are you based? A lot of brick and mortar computer parts shops will do this for you for a small fee. E.g. MSY did it for about $75 back in the day (Just checked they charge $120 now)

I'm not so sure I'd want a PC builder that uses a hammer lol

I'm in Sydney nsw well blue mountains to be precise.

But can I have the parts shipped to their store and they collect it piece by piece then build it

      • +1

I doubt it, but MSY tend to have the cheapest prices for parts anyway

      • "But can I have the parts shipped to their store and they collect it piece by piece then build it"

What? then aren't you paying double for shipping by the time it gets to your door?

In NSW there is Scorptec, Centre Com and Mwave.

    • So how does this work do i send the parts in and they send it back complete or can I just get the parts shipped to their address to be built?

no, you buy the parts on their website, and pay a build fee.

        example

        • Ah ok so no service really exists outside of Facebook markets and gumtree to get custom built pc services.

It looks like getting a prebuilt might just be cheaper then I'll tinker with it after.

@AlienC: You can walk into a computer store and see what they'll do, but odds are they wont want to rely on you to provide the parts.

It eats into the profit margins, and if there are faulty parts, it causes a load of problems.

            Pre-builts have always been cheaper

Cheap and custom are not words that go together.

            • @Davo1111: Very true I guess I was just dreaming thinking that this was a thing outside of solo one person businesses on classified type websites.

I was fine gambling last time because it was a very low budget build but this time I think I'll just go safe with a pre built.

And add extra ram and storage after.

It sucks though because I really wanted to put in an AIO but that's above my skill level.

@AlienC: got any IT savvy mates? it's not that hard to build a PC, most people probably have a friend or two who knows how to do it

                • @[Deactivated]: I do just haven't been in touch with them for a long time now I'm flying solo right now just international friends

              • @AlienC: AIO are popular because they are easy to install. any decent store will let you adjust a system order to suit.

  • I would have thought all places (both online and Bricks & Mortar) would do it for you for a fee.

In some ways it's better for them to ship it complete.. any issues, they aren't blame you.

more risk in having it shipped assembled, retail packaging is tightly packed for a reason. cpu and gpu heatsinks are rather hefty, bouncing around during freight could cause damage. couriers are also known to be rather careless with parcels.

PCs are adult Lego, you'll be fine. You're just psyching yourself out, I always get the sweats doing it and often have to redo parts because I've done something in the wrong order but I haven't broken anything yet.

Find a place that sells the parts you want and ask them if they can build the PC. Most will.

  • most place would only assemble with the parts supplied by themself before the parts got into customer's hand.

reason is there's a chance customer would open some package by curiosity and accidentally break something before they bring it back to the shop asking for assembly. the store won't able to proof where and how the damage is caused.

back in when I was working in one computer store years ago, MOST of the technicians I serve have very limited knowledge in computer parts (how much power does a particular CPU need, how much VRM does a motherboard have, what RAM speed would not fall into gear2 automatically, how much cooling does the CPU/Case need, how to turn on CSM with old parts that's not UEFI compatible, I can go on for days).

And when they have encountered any problem, all they do is go back to us, and yell "I have 10+ year of IT experience, these parts is definitely faulty", until we "magically" fix the problem for them.

Based on my experience, say I have a friend in interstate, I actually wouldn't trust one random gumtree dude to install the parts I selected for him.

  • I used to work in the Centre Com Service department in Sunshine, and we would often build systems with just the parts that a customer gave us.

So say if you walked into the service departments with all the parts in hand and you have confirmed that they should all be compatible with each other, we would build it for between $110 and $130. Not sure if the prices have changed recently though.

I am not sure if the Auburn store could do this for you, I would give them a ring and see if they can help you out.

    • That's an idea I guess. Unfortunately I only use public transport so I would either have to get a taxi or uber to achieve this.
