A bit too close to recent 8th gen i5 pricing to be good value

    Dual core only, no deal

Yeah, I wouldn't purchase a 6th gen in this climate.

I wouldn't even buy it if I had kids in primary school

  • How does HP Elitebook compare to Dell 7490? Are they in the same class or lower? Don't know much about laptop.. Cheers

HP Elitebooks are generally good quality machines. This particular model however is both out-dated and too old to buy at this price.

I'd give this one a try instead: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/165686301494

      • Cheers mate

Be aware, some HP EliteBook 830 models comes with low brightness (220 nits) and small gamut (45% sRGB) display.

      • Thanks for the info mate

Had one of these as a work laptop a few years ago. The screen was pretty unusable (very dull, and not bright enough even for indoor settings). Mostly plastic build too. Using a G5 now which is a lot better.

    I bought one of the 840 G5's
Its in surprisingly good aesthetic condition.
Battery is at 77%, was hoping for more but considering the age I guess I can't complain.

    • How can you check the battery life?
I'm buying one myself, and would like to make sure I'm not getting something that's wrecked. How's the screen quality? Any scratches?

      Thanks.

        Run CMD as admin
        powercfg /batteryreport

Laptop and screen are in almost pristine condition.
Only scuff marks are from where the screen and hinge must scuff slightly during opening and closing.

This laptop must've sat on an office desk and never moved because there would be no other explanation for its great condition.

        • Yeah, it's in near perfect condition. I agree.
Mine, however, has an issue where the charger connector is iffy and if you even look at it funny, it will stop charging and you have to push it hard inside again. I'm reluctant to send it back and get a replacement that is in bad shape, so I'll just suffer through it.

  • Coupon BASEPT20 no longer working.
Any way to enable it again so I can purchase today, OP?

    Thanks.
