Lack of response is leaning towards a case of Source: Trust me bro.

    • I have a refurb 7290, a 7490 would be excellent as a nephew gift.

      • +1

Great but I am a bit concerned about the overall look and condition, your machines are A grade? How does it look like?

        • +3

Cosmetically 9/10, it's a Dell Latitude so rock solid, and clean install W11.

          • @willyroo: Great, thanks mate for your help I really appreciate it. I am going to buy a couple.

    • +5

I picked up a dell in the last deal untech posted, my machine is consistent with their "excellent condition" it does have light scratches on the top , the screen and keys are like new. So maybe not perfect for gifts if the scratching is an issue.

      • +1

Light scratches are fine, thanks mate for the feedback I really appreciate it.

Any 15" laptop for sales op?

  • +4

    Hey everyone,

    • PayPal is now active
    • Cosmetically, our units are clean, very minor signs of usage with barely any scuffs marks or scratches. Basically, Grade A condition.
    • Battery health is excellent which is top tier in Dell and can be checked in Bios.
    • These laptops are sold with 6 months warranty. Please refer to our website for T&Cs.`
    • PayPal is now active

Thanks for that, ended up ordering once Paypal went active.

Glad to know it wasn't an issue on my end.

  • Which battery do these come with?

    • +1

Since the rep isn't responding to requests for information on batteries, I did some quick reading given I need a long battery life.

While replacement batteries are easy to find, it's not possible to upgrade from the 42Wh battery to the 60Wh as they operate at different voltages.

      • +2

You are correct it is not possible to upgrade to 60wH

The units we have comes with 60wH.

        Hope that's helpful

        • How different is the voltage? If the voltage is within the correct range/close enough it should work. I haven't heard of the same hardware needing to manage a different voltage before, but I am no expert. Also you need to be a bit cleaner when you say you can't upgrade to 60Wh but it comes with that.

  • 250 nits ?

  • +1

I take it these have no Windows Hello support. i.e. fingerprint reader or Ir camera? for authentication.

    • My 7390 has ir camera, not sure if that helps 🤷‍♂️

      • +1

It's common but optional, not a standard feature of either model.

  • Do these come in 1 TB too?

    • Yes, we have few available in 1tb as well

  • if i swap over for 16g and 512ssd, will the additional ram and ssd brand new? what brand are you going to use, ram and ssd?

  • Thanks for sharing the 7280 link, that's a great little unit for $347 delivered (incl $17.88 postage to SA metro).

    • Anyone or OP know if the ram is upgradeable in these? I don't need 8gb nnow but I might in a year or two. The 7280 that is.

      • Hey Jackson,

        Ram is upgradable

  • I have recently purchased an x1 carbon from their eBay store. Listing said condition Grade A - excellent cosmetic condition I would say easily 9/10, minimal to no sign of use on the keyboard / trackpad. Hopefully this Dell is also the same.

  • it doesnt say USB-C PD. Is the PD part missing?
    thanks a lot

  • Do you provide tax invoice?

    • We normally email the invoices. We can provide hard copy as well. Just add a note when you place an order.

      • I have sent two messages requesting an invoice a couple of days ago (one from online chat and the another one as an email)
        Still haven't received the invoice.
Could you please email my invoice?

  • OOS - should be marked expired

Just got my laptop and it all looked pretty good but unfortunately the panel is damaged. You couldn't tell when it is off but when turned on and with a black background you can see a line going down it. Something to check for everyone else.

@untech sent an email to support. Hoping return postage is offered for DOA/faults like this.

  • +2

Got the laptop today and would be returning now.
2 major faults, screen hinge are very lose and its always moving.

The screen is definitely having some resolution issues and some of the colour shows blur linings.

Deal breaker for me. Have sent email to their support for organising return.

    • Must of been an error in the refurb 😂

    • Hi mohdmufid4u,
We have responded to your query regarding the issue you had. Kindly get in touch if you have any further questions or concerns. Thank you

    • +1

Just got mine with the exact same fault. sent an email lets see.

  • Hi Guys
Not to worry our team will get back to you on Monday.
    Apologies for inconvenience.

    • +3

@untech - above msgs does not give a lot of confidence in ur fulfilment process

  • +3

Got mine today, screen garbled up and cracked lcd frame on bottom left.

    • Mate, please reach us and we will be happy to sort this for you. Thank you

      • Email sent, waiting for the reply. Thanks

  • I with my brother ordered 3 units which are not yet delivered but I am worried now these might be faulty as well.

  • Wow, seems like a high fault rate. Not looking good…

  • Hi Everyone,
Hope we all enjoyed the holidays over the last weekend. We were unavailable over the weekend hence why no support personnel or delivery services was available.
We are back on today to fulfill the remaining orders or cater any queries or issues that we have. Kindly reach us out on our website with your order number and any questions that you have. Cheers

  • I've got one on the way and with the feedback here I'm not feeling confident. I know that feedback generally has a negative bias but the lack of positive comments about recently shipped orders has me worried.

    • +2

My thoughts so far. I received my laptop on Friday and, while I'm reasonably happy with the quality of the machine itself, I would describe the condition as used rather than refurbished.

First impressions weren't great as the body and screen were obviously grimy from the previous user. 5 minutes with some isopropyl alcohol and a microfibre cloth sorted that. Then, as with several other users here my screen hinges were very loose. A quick Google search showed that this might be something I could solve myself. Sure enough, another 5 minutes with a spodge and a #1 Phillips and the hinges were like new. When I get a chance I'll put some Loctite on those screws to make sure they stay tight. Honestly, less than 15 minutes work works have completely change my first impression, and probably a few other people above too.

The battery is about at about 35% wear (~40Wh remaining from 60Wh), which I wouldn't describe as "excellent", but it isn't a replace right away problem either.

Like marlin below, the biggest issue is that after a system reset the licence is still locked to QBE. I've contacted untech to get this sorted as at the moment the computer is inaccessible.

      • +1

I found a work around for installing Windows 11, but I'm not sure if it will continue working so I have also emailed about getting it deregistered from QBE.

Google OOBE\BYPASSNRO. This allowed me to install Windows 11 with a local account which you can then sign in to your Microsoft account with.

Instead of connecting to Wifi (or ethernet):
"Open cmd with Shift + F10 and type OOBE\BYPASSNRO. Your computer will restart and now you will have the "I don't have Internet" option."

        • Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately that work around isn't working for me, so you were right to question how long it might work for you. Best that untech sorts out the licencing issue with QBE.

          • @twjr: @twjr Do you have a link to the guide for tightening up the hinges?

            • +1

@davemac: I worked it out based on the owners manual and a bit of trial and error. https://www.dell.com/support/manuals/en-au/latitude-14-7490-…

You need to fold the screen out flat on a hard surface. Then you should be able to fit a spodge (though even a plastic card or your finger nail should work) into the gap on the keyboard side of the screen hinge cover. That is only clipped on and should come off easily. You then find the two silver screws on each side of the screen by parting the WiFi antenna cables and tighten them up. Replace the hinge cover and you should be good. You don't need to remove the screen like the manual says.

I wanted a clean OS to be safe so I reset Windows from Settings->System etc. and it did so successfully. However on restarting, the new OS setup screens show a QBE logo and asks for a valid QBE email address. So the licence is locked to the previous organisation. I tried my personal Microsoft account email, an error message said personal accounts aren't valid. I then tried a QBE email address, error message said invalid user. I sent seller an email but they haven't responded yet. Another thing, the drive is a Lite-On which I'm guessing is of lesser quality than the original drive.

    • Seller replied promptly. Apparently previous owner QBE is meant to deregister licence but are slow in doing so. Seller says they will contact them so this will probably work out ok. Ideally this should have been checked before shipping out the laptop.

    • Hi Marlin,

This is quite rare that a registered serial hasn't been released from manufacturer but it can happen and something must have triggered during a reset to original settings (where windows may lookup prior registrations on setup). We have received your email and are in communication via email to get this resolved asap for you. Regarding the hard drive - Lite-On is a common manufacturer of drives. We check the drive health before dispatch, but don't generally specify between hard-drive manufacturers as there is often many different variants in each model. Regards UN Tech

I have the same issue after re-installing a fresh copy of Windows 11. Its registered to QBE and requires a "work or school" login.

    • I tried my personal Microsoft account email, an error message said personal accounts aren't valid.

Mine arrived, happy with the condition, but unfortunately it also seems tied to the previous owner as I couldn't sign in with a personal Microsoft account. Will escalate with the seller.

  • +2

Contacted Dell yesterday and quoted service tag number. They confirmed QBE are still the licensed owners. Dell said I could apply for change of ownership. I asked seller to take care of this because I don't know if the chain of ownership between qbe and me will create a hassle for me.

    • +1

      Issue seems resolved yesterday.

      • Thanks for updating. I'll follow up and see if that's the case for my machine too.

  • Hi all,

I've bought mine and it's great but I've decided it's not for me (I want 2-in-1 style)

I'm happy to sell it for what I paid $442 so someone else can get a great deal!

    PM me for details
