  • I've tried to find a consistent answer to this but see conflicting information depending where I look.

Is it straight forward to port a Telstra number to Boost. I'd really like to move to make the move but this being difficult is what keeps me hesitant.

    Appreciate any advice.

I did it about two months ago. You have contact Boost customer support and they will do it all for you (make sure you have all your Telstra details with you). It was all done pretty quick and I had no issues.

      • Thanks. Seems I might have read some old posts when it was a lot harder..will give it a go I think

        • I Did the same twice recently. SurrounD's advice is spot on

    • I did a straight port from Telstra Pre-Paid to Boost 12 month for a grandparent without issue a few months ago ;)

I believe Telstra POST PAID might be a little painful (have to switch from post-paid to pre-paid, then port)!

No need for temp SIM or port out / in to a secondary provider (like has been suggested in many posts I also read)!

      • Cheers. Thanks for that. Might give it a go I think.

    • I did it a month back from Telstra prepaid to boost prepaid 1 year. Didn't talk to customer care and followed normal instructions on their activation website. No issues in porting and was done in 5 mins.

    • its so easy. No issues at all.

  • What is the easiest way to actually contact Boost.
SIM card received showing SOS only after getting the confirmation all good to go.

    1-Year $200/140GB for $169.90
    These are regularly around $150.

Not a deal for either the $200 and $300 Boost SIM

$200 Boost SIM is cheaper on ebay with code SNSSEPT ($163 after code) or a unique code from Student Beans ($153 after code)

$300 Boost SIM is cheaper with code BOOST250 and bonus $40 cashback from CR if buying directly from Boost Mobile = $210 after discount code and cashback

    • +2

Agreed, even at face value (without knowing what you'd mentioned) it doesn't seem to be a particularly competitive price..

    • How can I get the student beans deal?

You’d need to have access to an institutional email account for the sign up process

Thanks mate. Might jump on this and ditch optus

        • Hey mate not sure if you know about this, but after 1 year if I want to renew it, would I have to pay the $200? i.e. are these $150-160 deals for the 1st year only?

          • +2

@ozziekhoo: Buy these again before your 1 year expiry and call Boost and tell them that you have bought one again and you want to keep the same number. They will ask for the new sim number and transfer your old 1 year to new 1 year (if this makes sense). Do it closer to the old year end (for example 1-2 days remaining).

    • Do we need to activate a $300 sim within 30 days to qualify for a $40 cashback from CR? My current boost is ending Dec end only.

    • Code is expired now

  • I jumped from Boost to Woolies Mobile recently after all the nonsense in recent years about them changing plans, giving me a credit offer on a new plan that never seemed to eventuate and often when I went to check my account it said I was on a Telstra Sim and couldn't give me an update. Woolworths mobile app is FAR better (in part because I can see my account while still on my home WiFi) and I feel the 10% off a grocery bill each month* basically nullifies the cost of what a month would cost. Also that I can "gift" up to half the data in the pack to a family member is great with rollover each contract period… not to mention using an e-Sim on my Samsung S21 rather which was a pleasure to set up. *only catch was that it only gives you 10% off after 45 days and resets each month, so if you plan to have that 45 days end at the end of the month, so you buy it before the 15th then it would work out well… I'm currently waiting for the 5th to get my 10% off. Just remembered too that you get a $10 back for you and $10 for a friend that refers you, as well as some Cashback from memory… thinking back now, I'm pretty content on making the switch from Boost… who I was with for about 3 years.

    • +2

Aren't you comparing partial Telstra network with limited download speeds to full Telstra network? Also the speed cap is very low on Woolies if that matters to anyone.
If you are fine with those compromises then it's good value.

Cheaper from Lucky Mobile for $152

I Price Beat at Officeworks on Tuesday for $144

    • Good to know OW will price match that. Thanks

    • That page says cannot port Telstra number directly but I just called boost and they told me no problem to bring Telstra prepaid number directly to boost..

Might call into Officeworks after work I think.

      • +1

Correct. I have also used one of these cards to renew an existing Boost prepaid recently for my wife. Just message support. Was given this tip in a previous Boost deal..
In other words you don't even need to be a new customer porting in to Boost

    • I was with boost in 2019-2021, and now with Catch Connect, will I be eligible for this $200 started pack?

      • of course

    • +1

Thanks, just price matched at OW. will port from telstra prepaid.

    • +1

Did you price beat online or in store? Do you know if it’s easy to get it delivered with price beat?

      • I did it in store. I've price beat an item online before and they are pretty good from that experience. If the price includes shipping then OW's PB will include shipping too

    • Just tried based on what you posted and my local Officeworks said no. Their reason was that Lucky Mobile is not legitimate and their ABN listed at the bottom of their website is not the same as the website name, which is silly becuase most companies do not trade under their registered ABN name anyway.

      • I called their phone number and asked to price match

      • That's odd, sorry a bit late to reply. Hope you manage to find another sales person or OW store to do it. I went to two stores Sydney and both did it with no issue.

    • Its $155 now and I thought OW would add on the shipping cost before applying the 5% price beat. Looks like you got lucky 😅

      • Their price includes shipping so OW should price match include shipping as well. But yes price has gone up at Lucky.

        • I'm in Sydney and when I go to checkout it adds $5 for delivery. So when it was $155 the total was $160. It's now $170 delivered at luckymobile..

280gb practically is not much at all. I don’t really recommend Boost anymore.

    • Are there any other options with more data that use the same Telstra network?

      • It’s unfortunate world we live in that for $18 per month you don’t have much choice. I got it for $215 280gb. Let alone this deal 260gb only

    • +2

      It's practically 280GB.

For me it's twice what I need and the telstra network is the only reliable one at my home. I recommend Boost highly to those that have commensurate needs.

    • I think 280gb per year is more than enough.
20gb a month with my current provider, I dont usually finish that. Need more reliable network when you are outside metro area

  • My wife’s 12 month plan on boost is up on the 2nd oct last year she was given a bit of discount as was i which my plan is not till later.

We both want to keep our numbers but get a good cheap plan on boost any suggestions.

  • Can I port from Woolworths prepaid to this? My son was with Optus post paid for years, then they jacked the prices up so I switched him to Woolies, but it's been pretty bad, no signal a lot of the time and even when there is signal he gets no data flow. So I've been thinking of moving him to Boost.

    • You might want to by a sim card to test the network.

I had a similar issue and the coverage in my home was trash with Optus, but it is similarly bad with Telstra too. Metro Melbourne - who would have guessed I was in a black spot for mobile.

  • Is it still possible to transfer from Telstra to Boost?
I've done this before but I just transferred to Telstra from Boost and wanted to transfer back but it's saying its still a Boost number.
Is this still a thing and do I just need to wait a few hours?

  • If I am already with Boost (my 1 year prepaid ends this month), can I buy this without porting to a different provider? If I go to live chat, would they port my current number to the new sim or am I going to have to switch providers?

    • Previous comment here says that they are able to do so.

  • Price matched with OW for $147.50 with lucky mobile

    • OW website says, "This Boost Mobile Prepaid SIM gives you 30 of data to use and an additional 65 GB on your first recharge, alongside unlimited talk and text within Australia. The credit lasts for 12 months."

Did you get the entire 140GB cap with the OW-purchased SIM?

  • +1

Officeworks (OW) Wentworthville didn't price match saying Lucky mobile doesn't charge GST and hence can't beat the price.

Has anyone had luck with OW in Sydney?
