I genuinely want your 3d models for all the parts needed for this build.

    • Dude, Lego only made $3.5 billion (AUD) in profit last year from $11.4 billion in revenue. So you've gotta help them out, they are barely making anything off the plastic blocks they are selling.

A bit like the $4 worth of plastic and glass that you typed that message on. What did you pay for that?

      • I'm pretty sure the manufacturing costs of mobile phones are more than costs of plastic blocks.

        • And mobile phones cost a lot more to buy. Anyway, he was talking raw materials, not manufacturing. But thanks for the info.

          • @Maloo: There are many mobile phones built with a wide array of materials and gone through multiple forms of manufacturing that cost a damn sight less than this toy. That is some more info for ya.

            • @FabMan: And here is some ‘relevant’ information for ya. The original comment is solely about the raw materials. Not manufacturing. Enjoy.

              • @Maloo: "And mobile phones cost a lot more to buy."

It was relevant since you carried on that aspect of the discussion, that final price, after manufacturing.

But if you only want to discuss raw materials In phones you do have plastic and glass as well as cobalt, lithium, carbon graphite, gold, silver, copper, platinum, tungsten, neodymium-iron-boron, dysprosium, praseodymium, and a few other materials.

I think we both know the original point made was that the basic and cheap raw materials of LEGO suddenly becomes very expensive when processed, arguably unreasonably so. I think we both know that comparing it to a mobile is foolish because phones contain a variety of different raw materials and some rare raw materials. Phones go through a whole heap of processing from different companies to be made, sometimes cheaper than this LEGO figurine.

                • @FabMan: And mobile phone companies don’t pay licensing fees etc either. And the original comment was about the final price after manufacturing. Read it again, before carrying on. Your argument is only supporting my original comment.

                  • @Maloo: "mobile phone companies don’t pay licensing fees" Yes, they do. Phone companies have to pay license fees to cover patents, and many of the components inside a phone do too. Just because you aren't aware of it, doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

Your original post stated that the phone is made of plastic and glass, and that the raw materials cost are only 40% ($4) of what the LEGO figurine is, even though phones contain a variety of materials, with some being rare raw materials. You kinda had a point, but I think it was foolish to use complex mobile phone as comparison against the plastic molded LEGO pieces considering ABS plastic is not a raw material, it is already a processed product ready for further processing. I can purchase 1 kilo of coloured ABS for $25 delivered on a reel, LEGO would make it for significantly less. I know you want to put people down, but your example was bad because ABS plastic is cheap and phones contain much more expensive materials. The next stage for LEGO is pouring molten ABS plastic into a mold while phone manufacturers and the components makers have a massive amount of work to put into it, creating silicon chips from the processed materials for example are much more complex than molds. Remember that despite you thinking phones cost a hell of a lot more than this toy, many do not. This is why LEGO is making huge amounts of profits in ratio to its revenue compared to electronics companies like LG or Samsung.

                    • @FabMan: Nice story, but you forgot the dragons. My original post was adhoc and a generalisation. But go ahead and make it whatever you want, as it doesn’t change the fact. Licensing refers to using others trademarks etc, ie Star Wars, Ferrari, Harry Potter etc. Again, feel free to change it to whatever suits your narrative and make it patent fees etc.

                      • @Maloo: Patent fees are licensing fees, same context. Pay to use someone else's Intellectual Property (IP) is the same whether it is a artistic design or technical design. Hahaha, another failure of yours.

                    • @FabMan: so you know what brand of phone joeno was using to make his comment, so you? In fact, you know it was a phone and not a PC, tablet etc. Amazing. Have you actually read his comment? He refers solely to plastic and paint. Nothing else. Not manufacturing, not packaging, not advertising and all the other things that are included in the cost of lego. I know you want to prove others wrong, but you need to keep you argument relevant and on track.

                      • @Maloo: Hahaha, you made it about a phone you silly dofus… plastic and glass, many keyboards like that? When I mentioned phones next you go along right with it because we both know that is what you are refering too. If it wasn't you'd know the raw resources on a PC are way more than $4 too

You stated mobile phones are more expensive, so you are the one making judgements about phone prices without knowing what it is they are using. I love that you keep giving bad info but won't accept you made a tiny (profanity) up and keep doubling down on it. This debate isn't worth it for the subject matter, but I'm finding this very entertaining.

    • Brand names, 2 big ones combined … Lego and Nintendo.

Myer in Garden City has this for $319.99 (Its not listed on the website but may be available in other Myer stores, all the Super Mario Lego is 20% off.)

    • Only WA stores have it. Just called a few in NSW and they all confirmed the same.

20% off sale ends tomorrow as well.

      • none at Melbourne CBD Myer either

  • I need this

  • Why did I imagine this was exclusive to Lego? Doh!

Does this Mighty Bowser dispense free petrol?

  • Funnily Nintendo used to make Lego style bricks to compete with Lego back in the day before they made video games.

I'm sure someone's picked up on this the first time Lego and Nintendo made a collab but it's just occurred to me.

    • The toy bricks in Super Mario Bros. 2/Doki Doki Panic are the bricks Nintendo used to sell.

  • 270 in the US. Ordered 😬

    • Source?

  • Costco is now $299.99
