  • very good price… it's the first brand to break the $150 barrier

However, from experience, Maxtor is very unreliable drive.

    • I agree with that. Have had problems with Maxtor in the past. I now enjoy Western Digital drives.

  • Great price but locating one will be difficult. Those locations are way too far…

  • Can we get Officeworks match price?

    • they dont have it so no match price

  • I feel sick as I bought 1 of these same models just last week for $185

    • well i paid $185 for a 500gb WD external 12mths ago… so there :P

      lol

      • 3 years ago I paid $140 for a 4gb usb drive.

  • Good price, kinda far. XD -lazies- Will wait for more price drops..

  • not available in WA?!! What a shame :(

  • Any stores in VIC that also offer this?

  • VIC:- Echuca DSE, Hamilton DSE, Mildura DSE

EDIT: that's way too far unless they offer delivery service

  • Wow… $135.68,,, and available in Brisbane CBD store,,, ahhh, now I see the catch!
    It's a Maxtor :(

Still, tempting to take the risk at that price isn't it!

  • Wowser.

  • The catalog number for this one is XH0961, there is another exact item (XH0961WEB) selling for $189!

  • I think the harddisk is ATA, not SATA so it is an old one hence discontinue product. so you better check first but yes if you just want normal 1tb it is a great price.

  • so limited places.. also so far

NSW/ACT:- Griffith DSE, Miranda DSE, Nowra DSE VIC:- Echuca DSE, Hamilton DSE QLD:- Dalby DSE, Kingaroy DSE, Kippa Ring DSE, Morayfield DSE, Toowoomba DSE, Warwick DSE SA:- Arndale DSE, St Marys DSE.

  • Price looks very good to me. Noramlly I buy Seagate products. I've heard people're saying that Maxtor is not as reliable. Can anyone confirm it or provide some feedback that would support other opinions.

    • We bought the Maxtor One Touch 1/1.5GB drives about 2 or 3 years ago and almost all of them suffered a drive failure just outside the warranty time. Was on 24/7, 365 with a few hours of transfer daily.

Now onto WD 1 TB drives, 6 months in. No complaints so far. Don't rely on 1 place for your backups, always have at least 2 copies.

    • I had bad experience with Maxtor too. I have WD devices now and have not had issues so far.

  • -1

1TB who needs it, I would never trust a HD that size, too much data to lose!

  • Nice price - very nice

  • Yeah, it is a very good bargain (and I voted for it), but I would not put too much trust on maxtor. I bought a SAMSUNG HDD (another "cheap brand") a few years ago - it failed in a couple of years. I've resotored 9.9999% of my data using backups but I had to spend a couple of days on this and I lost God knows how many millions of brain cells cause I was shocked when I got that blue screen of death.
PS my ~5 years old 80GB Seagate HDD still alive and does not look like it is gonna die soon :-) I've got two 500GB ones as well - no problems at all.

  • I wouldn't touch anything other then WD, but still it's a good deal though, not so much when you have to buy an extra one to back the first one up ;o)p

  • Seagate stuff is good as well IMHO

  • excellent price …

  • The 1 I bought a couple weeks ago for $185 was a MXT3101 Basics. I am unsure if it is the exact same prodcut as this 1 but it sounds like it is.

  • I just called the Miranda store as they are the only store within driving range for me. The manager said they never had that product for $135 and that it was a stock "discrepancy".

  • Damn I gotta get myself one of these

  • Thanks!!

  • Could not locate one at Maribyrnong, Victoria, Powerhouse or regular store. The staff member checked on their store computer and it is listed as discontinued, so there is no chance of more stock arriving. Good luck to anyone who can find stock.
