Is there any plan deal for telstra day or only for outright phone?

    • Yes a $20/mth off NBN/5g data plans for 12mth would be nice.

    • +1

Deal like phone plan deal. Since the outright got cheaper, maybe phone deal get lower too

  • Will officeworks price match/beat? Ty in advance

    • Should be able to.

      • -1

You reckon you can go into today and get the price match for tomorrow? Might give it a whirl

      • +4

I would give you a <5% chance of getting anyone to price match.

A few months back, Telstra had the iPhone13 128gig on sale for $999. I tried OW, JB and HN for a price match. They each said no because the offer wasn't readily available to everyone.

Think of Telstra Day like Costco. You have to be a member to be eligible for the price.

I ended up buying from Telstra.

        • Many got PM successfully via online chat at JB.

        • +1

Think of Telstra Day like Costco. You have to be a member to be eligible for the price.

You don't need to be a paid member like Costco, you don't need to be a Telstra customer. You just need a Telstra ID so you can login. I'd be arguing that it's no different to logging into JB or OW. But i know the OW phone price match people can be picky about having to login, but not so the store people.

          From the link

Do I have to be a Telstra customer to shop Telstra Day?

You don’t need to be a Telstra customer, but you do have to have a Telstra ID to checkout at the store for Telstra Day.

          • @M00Cow: And the next sentence in the FAQ states:

"New customers looking to take up Telstra Day device or accessory offers can just simply add it to their no lock-in plan online at purchase."

Which is a very roundabout way of saying new customers can't get the deal. Hence why you get the error that you can only buy it on a plan if you're creating a new account. (See my other comment)

    • Officeworks do not!

    • No , unless you manage to find someone who doesn't know the criteria!

Do I need Telstra services like an active Telstra number to shop for these deals?

    • On a previous Telstra day I got an Apple 13 phone without an active Telstra service.

    • +6

“Do I have to be a Telstra customer to shop Telstra Day?

You don’t need to be a Telstra customer, but you do have to have a Telstra ID to checkout at the store for Telstra Day.”

      • How to get Telstra ID without being a Telstra customer?
Also, will the phone network be locked to Telstra use only?

        • +3

You have to have or have had a service at some point. Easiest way is buying a $2 Telstra pre paid sim. They are unlocked from Telstra’s network.

          • +2

@Slo20: "They are unlocked from the Telstra network"? Not sure what you mean by that?

            • @ozhunter68: Phone , of course.

              • @Murkymerv: Just wondering as you were talking about a Telstra Sim, and next words you said "they are unlocked", so a bit ambiguous for me.

          • @Slo20: does that get you instant telstra ID or you have to wait for it?

            • @89tnp: well I bought a $2 sim and found out the hard way

      • You also need a service plan with Telstra to buy it outright. Just tried after all the checking with id, etc. One useless account for me.

        • I live chat Telstra, they said all their phone are Network locked and requires active service plan.

    • +3

You just need a Telstra ID (ie website login). And you can get the deal. If you've used the AFL/NRL app you probably have one. But otherwise just sign up.

  • +4

    Sadly, they ditched Apple!

    • +2

Because the iPhone 14 is brand new, wait a few months and they might start doing deals on it.

    • +2

Yeah, agree - surprised not even the iPhone 13 pro

    Samsung A33 $349 - record low
    Samsung S21 Fe $749

    • Is a33 the dual sim version?

    • +1

I got an S21 5G for $672 last year during Telstra day. This seems like a little bit of a step backwards.

      • Inflation is always backwards

      • Yep, I would have thought the S22 would have been much cheaper. Also have the S21 from last year's deal

        • This is the S22+ but the S22 still way more than last years S21 @ 672 which was a Real Bargain.

Had one in my cart, but did not pull the trigger as had many other costs that week.

    • S21 Fe was $560 less than 30 days ago on Ozbargain.

  • +1

I believe the Oppo X5 Pro from Telstra will only have 1x physical sim slot?

    • +2

Yes. They might support esim and 1 physical sim.

    • +1

Don't buy a Telstra branded Oppo handset. My Find X3 pro hasn't received an update in 12 months while the optus variant gets regular updates.

      • +5

while the optus variant gets regular updates.

        I bet it does.

It's good to hear hackers & malware developers care about their products.

        • That's hilarious

  • Anyone know if a Samsung A33 purchased outright is locked to Telstra?

  • -4

    SEDSP

    • +33

No, they didn't discount a phone that hasn't even been released yet.

  • +1

Ah waiting on a deal for the S22

    • +1

$250 less for S22 at Telstra. Purchased 128g for $999 outright.

    • If you've got a trade in JB are offering extra $350 trade in credit towards any S22 series phone next week.

      S22 128gb $1049 minus trade in deal

      • Next week?

        • +2

From the 13th. It shows bonus $350 trade in credit on website now but S22 128gb will have another $200 off next week bringing it down to $1049 before trade in.
          S22+ 128gb $1349 before trade in.

          • +1

@CheapGit: So $200 off from the 13th? How do you know?

          • +1

@CheapGit: 200 off the 22 now. 350 bonus trade in. Hopefully samsung match or beat as i have loyalty and newsletter code to use.

            • +1

@Jono258: @Jono258 Just seen this week's catalogue, same deal as next week. So, you got bit of time to see if Samsung does something.

      • +1

        Last time was $500 bonus.

        • Hopefully samsung store match this, or JB bring back the 500 off

Telstra Day is definitely better than Optus Day.

    • +3

Optus day was shit, got my details stolen.

      • What , you think Optus are the only ones doing this ?
        Planet dystopia

        • Yes, only optus lost millions of customers' 100 point IDs. This is not your normal Name, mobile number stuff that you enter on websites to create an account. These are passports, address proof, driving licence which can be used to apply for credit cards, loans and mess with superannuations.

  • Dam great deals but waiting for iPhone 13/14 :)

  • +1

How is the pixel 6a? Keen in it but worried about bugs etc

    • +9

Great. You only hear about issues not people who are satisfied.

      • It would be good if you could elaborate on your positive experience with it. I am considering getting one for myself but would appreciate reading some of the positives on it.

        • +2

Wife has had one for a month. Camera is great, battery is totally fine. Phone feels fast and hasn't exhibited any issues.
Lots of early reviews whinged about the slow fingerprint scanner, but an update made it much faster.

What no-one talked about is the decent speakers. I bought it because she didn't want a surfboard like most phones. Hard to comment on reception where we are.

          • @Erwark: I had the Pixel 6 for a short while and the speakers were noticeably worse than the S21's. Are the 6a's better?

            • +1

              @KazaHesto: Can't say, I haven't used an S21.

6a isn't incredible, but it's better than I expected. Might worth dropping into JB Hifi for an A-B test.

        • +1

Agree with @Erwark on all points. Was a present for the wife. I set it up for her and use it myself every now and then.

It has lot’s of features and automation stuff. Very snappy and great speakers indeed.

Had the fingerprint scanner issue at first even after the update. But I kept using it every time I wanted to unlock (unsuccessful most of the time). Now the scanner works without any issues.

It’s almost like the more I used it the better it (fingerprint scanner) got. All in all a great phone for the price IMHO

    • mixed bag. I gave up on Pixel series after trying 2 over the years. Samsung, Xiaomi dont disappoint.

    • Upgraded from my 4-year-old OnePllus 6, honestly, feels like a downgrade… I miss facial recognition. Finger scanner issues that most talk about doesn't seem to be too bad after upgrades. I'm still getting used to it but having weird issues uploading multiple photos to Instagram, answering phones thru locked screen etc.

    • I've had mine about a month now, having upgraded from a two year old Xiaomi Red Mi 9 and an OG Pixel XL before that. I'm much happier with being back in the Pixel ecosystem again because everything just… works! It's way less buggy than the Xiaomi and the camera seems to be great. Obviously it's no flagship phone, but it's pretty damn good for half the price.

  • Link doesn't load
Edit: bad to turn my ad blocker on and off and now it loads. Not sure how to un neg the deal

    • It's fine for me.

Picked up a s21 256 for $672 last year and looking at these deals makes me think it was still the best telstra day deal yet.

    • +1

Don't tell me that mate, it will be ages now before I upgrade lol

      • Should have done jb swap deal to get S22. I did it for wife’s phone and ended up paying only $100 more after sending old phone and it’s way better screen and camera. The spec don’t reflect it but i am envious of screen snappiness vs my iPhone 13.

  • +1

Ah shucks, bought the 6A for $599 just a few days ago from the JBHIFI deal. Oh well, at least I got 5% off via gift cards. So far the phone has been great coming from a 3A. Especially after upgrading to Android 13.

    • How is the phone so far?

      • +7

        $50 cheaper now

      • +3

Pretty good. Noticing a drop in signal quality at home though but nothing drastic. Honestly, not really noticing that much of a change from the 3a xl. On screen fingerprint reader is slower than the rear one but I got used to the speed in about a day.

Where is iPhone 14 Pro Max :(

    • +4

      Not sure if serious?

  • Need decent deals on the tab 8 utra … 15% off, or a 300 on a 2178.96 (minimum) device is ok. But nothing that's going to make me pul the trigger.

    I mean the x5 pro is 600 off a s 1799 dollar device!

  • I've got a Telstra Marketplace account. For buying office 365. Does this give me access to these deals?

    Nothing on iPhones?
