when overseas you can spot the Bogan Aussie by who's wearing Haviana's

    • -1

I thought they'd be wearing sponge ones from Kmart not high end ones

    • What’s wrong with wearing these?

      • +2

        Archies are better

        • Teva Mush 2 even more so.

    • Havianas are pretty expensive…. Most bogans wearing something cheaper.

    • They are Brazilian so not sure

  • +1

Wonder if you could use the Tea box as a Watch Box?? ☕️⌚️

Havaiana's are heavier and thicker, last longer but normal RRP (was around $25 when i used to get them) wasnt really worth it compared to cheaper $1-2 ones from kmart, big w, for me anyway. Id get a pair for $5 if i had kogan first, but i dont, so..

    • +1

      totally different quality mate

    • Cheap ones deform and feel a bit weird to wear very quickly. Personally, the premium for Havaianas is worth it.

From other posts, IIRc, other users say say also can be dangerously slippery when the rubber wears away.

      • Plain ones grip okay. Printed ones are slippery from the get go.

      • I've got a pair of the havianas top thongs and recently did a 4-5km 3.5hr slightly muddy hike with them (an unexpected additional day activity I wasn't prepared for). I'm waddling around like a penguin because my calves are on fire, but surprisingly my feet don't hurt at all. They had good grip even over slippery rocks.

Been rocking my Kmart $1 thongs for the last two years lol

      • that's a good deal. must be inflation in WA. Damn Kmart thongs are $8 last time i went in

    • Thanks I need to go get these for the gym and around the house. Pretty sure my mom used to beat with these back in the day. Boomerang action and all.

Funny, I found havaianas more common overseas than in Australia 8 years ago (although has since grown a lot here too)

They are made in Brazil and there is only one official distributor that applies exorbitant wholesale pricing.

Our local retail pays about $10-$15 a pair depending on the style, and has to sell them for about $30-$40.

Meanwhile online stores don't deal with the 'official' wholesaler, and can buy them in for $3 - $5, and sell them for $15-$20.

The "Australia tax" of monopolistic wholesalers is overcharging our market is causing the desth of Australian retail. Gerry Harvey never discussed this in his campaign to save local retail, instead blaming GST, because he IS the monopolistic wholesaler taking advantage of his franchisees.

      rantt

Read a comment in another thread saying they got fakes off kogan

    • Thanks, was about to order 2 but having second thoughts now

    • Kogan does not sell fake Havaianas - they are authentic!

      • But I read a comment in another thread saying they got fakes off kogan

I bought most of this stuff using the free Kogan First trial. They also have lots of $5 pure cotton single bed sheet sets. Foe someone who sews, that's a very cheap way to buy fabric.

I mentioned this is the Kogan electronics bargain post but it's worthwhile doing again for those that find Kogan shipping a dealbreaker. If you have the Kogan Black Credit Card, it’s also a rewards credit with $0 annual fee for life and comes with complimentary Kogan First. I've just grabbed the Pie Maker from this deal with my points. I compliment the card with the HSBC debit card for 2% cashback on purchases under $100. Everything over $100, I use the Kogan. I’ve had the card for a few years now, but in the past 12 months alone, my points have netted me the following, quite a few were bargains on their own; the pie maker, the electronics kit, Birkenstock Arizonas (still cheaper on kogan than elsewhere), Breville coffee milk jug, 4 apple airtags, replenishment kit for Roomba s9+, messermeister take-apart scissors, viofo dashcam hardwire kit, doosl green USB laser pointer presenter, Asics Gel running shoes and another orange Victorinox steak knife. Anyway, worth considering.

When your Kogan First trial runs out, just sign up again ;)

    • Kogan rewards points are now not available for redemption, if you haven't noticed. Not even able to see how much it is on my points balance there. They are having issues for a few days now. Is anyone else affected?

  • Is it easy to cancel the Kogan First Trial? Don’t want to have to faff about calling customer service etc to do it.

    • +1

Yeah, just need to go to the Kogan First page and click on 'Cancel Free Trial' (which also ends the trial immediately).

      • You can do that?

  • +1

    How can she slap?

  • How are kogan regarding returns? Easy? Free returns? Their website doesn't really explain how it works, too vague

    • +1

You lodge a support ticket and they'll (ie a customer rep - not automated like Amazon) tell you how to send it back to them (which is usually at your expense, but varies by item).

  • Thong warrior price @ $5

  • Got one, thanks OP!

  • You will be coolest kid on the block with kogan flip flops

  • +1

Thongs also available in some other colors.

  • thanks, got one for $4.5 with $0.5 kogan first credits

  • +2

If you love wearing thongs I highly recommend Archies. They are like Havis but with arch support and are a one piece so don't break easily like plugged thongs. They also have a tighter strap so you aren't fatiguing your feet by clenching every time you step.
They cost a bit more, but unlike Havis you are getting a much better thong for your money.

    • +2

They cost around $40 a pair!

      • They cost around $40 a pair!

Some people pay $200 for shoes they wear once. I wear thongs almost everyday so the per km cost is almost nothing :)
