Hey Oz Bargain Community,

Been a little while since you've heard from us/we've posted a deal, but we've been working hard on some important improvements in the background. One of which is further improving logistics, as we know how understandably important delivery is to you. Part of this included a tour of an Australia Post parcel sorting facility. We learned so much about all the little things we can do to give your orders the best chance for speedy sorting and delivery. We've asked these questions before, but the information appears to only be available by seeing the parcel sorting machines in action. Among other changes, you may start to notice the shape and colour of our packaging change for certain products over time. To action some of these requires a bit of extra capital, as such we've got a terrific 40% off deal below for a bit of a win-win cash flow bump. It's exciting to see the changes come to life and the speedier results that follow!

We're offering you a 40% discount off our much loved Brazil São Paulo Single Origin, only $14.99 per 500g (usually $24.99 per 500g), and $26.39 per 1kg (usually $43.98 per 1kg), for orders placed until 11/10/2022. You can pick from the available green circle dispatch dates on the cart page. There's two or more available scheduled dispatch dates per week until the end of November currently available to reserve. Dispatch can happen for you as near as tomorrow (Friday) and as far as the last Wednesday in November. Once a given dispatch date is at full capacity the green circle will be removed and date will turn red, first in best dressed :)

Some helpful info:

  • You're welcome to place multiple orders scheduled for dispatch at various dates (delayed dispatch) to make the most of this deal
  • One dispatch per order
  • If you select 500g as a quantity please ensure you also select 500g as the packaging option. If 500g is selected as a quantity with 1kg as the packaging selection the product will show as "unavailable"
  • Complimentary gift notes can be written in the "special instructions for seller" box on the cart page."
  • The largest bag size we use is 1kg and it has a zip (it's resealable), for example if you order 4kg with 1kg packaging you will receive 4 x 1kg bags, you will not receive a single huge 4kg bag. 500g bag packing is also available for orders larger than 500g this is an extra $3.60 per kg including the discount (normally $6 extra per kg) to cover the extra bag/s, label/s and time it takes to pack

Appreciate the follow up extra info!

Back in the day that was the first electric grinder I bought for myself (first grinder was a Porlex hand grinder), good memories :)

If I recall correctly I think you'll likely need a setting between 10-20 (for those seeing this with an Oracle or Oracle Touch likely 20-30), of course it all depends on how much use and the calibration of your burrs.

Sure thing, a 1:2 ratio for milk (almond) based drinks should still be delicious, we just found a 1:1 ratio even better in terms of balance and flavour cutting through the milk. The 1:1 we recommend for 150-200ml of milk, if you're adding much more (a big mug) then stick with a 1:2 ratio. 1:1 and 1:2 are both interchangeable ratios for milk based. In terms of black coffees we found a 1:1 to be a tad too concentrated to fully enjoy the flavour and just recommend a 1:2 for this SO.

          • @LimeBlueCoffee: Thanks for the info. Got my beans and they are pretty impressive! Been doing 1:2 ratio but it’s a little lacking flavour because I do put a lot of milk as I like a big mug to sip on (400ml). Using 20g, so trying to experiment. If I do a 1:1 ratio, do you still want it to take 25-30 seconds for the water to come through or should it be faster ?

For a single shot 10/12g, what length of time should that take?

My friends who came over were impressed with the taste so making good progress!

            • @dammit: Wonderful to hear you and your friends are "impressed" by our fresh coffee, thank heaps for sharing that most welcomed feedback!!!

Extra info about the 400ml mug is helpful, for this I'd actually recommend pulling two shots, you can experiment with two 1:2, two 1:1 or mix it up with a 1:2 and 1:1 For the most part all settings compared between the 1:1 and 1:2 should be the same, the once difference is the 1:1 is a restricted (ristretto) shot, so you'll stop the shot ~18 seconds instead of ~27.

I know it does use more coffee for a double shot, but I'd honestly recommend sticking with the double shot basket. The curved shape and fewer extraction flow holes of the single basket can lead to uneven extraction compared with the straight walls and uniform extraction flow holes of a double shot basket :)

  • Is there a better option for long blacks / straight espresso given the site pumps this up as a milk drink?

    • Great question, appreciate you taking the time to reach out!

We do think this one is fantastic for milk based coffees. However, that's not to take away from enjoying it black, it's still delicious straight. If this one was only suited to milk based we'd specifically mention it in the product description, as we would if we had a SO or blend only suited to black coffees (which we have done before). If you like the sound of the flavour profile description then this one should hopefully be a winner for you :)

    • I drink most of my coffees black and this one is great as is 👌

      • Fantastic, music to my ears, thank you so much for sharing that terrific feedback with the Community :)

  • Grabbed one . Cheers op

    • Fantastic, thank you so much for your order, it's truly appreciated!

  • which ground size would you recommend using with an Aeropress and a V60?

    • Great question!

Please select filter grind and write "Aeropress and a V60" in the "special instruction for seller" box on the cart page :)

      • Thanks, I already placed an order yesterday and put in a similar comment :)

        • Perfect, really appreciate your order (and note), thank you so much!

  • Normally go Airjo but I'll give Lime and a SO a whirl. Grabbed 'filter grind' for my dripolator.

    • Terrific, really appreciate the order, thank you so much for giving us a shot, it's an opportunity we won't take for granted!

  • My favourite beans from you guys was the peru so. Had the brazil beans twice now and they are up there with them so will order them for in advance.

Honestly really appreciate that you guys have the delayed shipping, i feel like it should be standard for all roasting companies.

    • Nice favourite pick, our Peru SO was quite a special one. Truth be told I could say that about all the SO's that make it through testing to offering, every coffee we pick we do for a special reason :)

Hi, I have the Bazzera BZ10, I set the brew pressure to 6.5bar, any suggestions for brewing time and ratio? Thx

    • Nice machine :)

Hmm that's a bit of a curve ball pressure to set. To assist my suggestion skills, could you please let me know why you've picked that specific pressure e.g. do you normally have dark roasted coffee or preground coffee or ..?

      • Thanks for getting back. I like it lower pressure and brew it longer time. High pressure makes the coffee harsh. I normally have light to medium roast.

        • Appreciate the extra info. Few more quick questions before I chuck in my 2 cents:

          1) Could you please elaborate by what you consider harsh? E.g. bitter, sour, too concentrated or ..?
          2) Do you also vary the temperature away from the normal range or 92-96 degrees (depending on the type of coffee)? If yes, what temperature do you extract at?
          3) Could you please describe your ideal coffee 1-10, 1 Fruity 10 Chocolate; 1-5 (1 low level 5 high level) bitter, sour, sweet, salty, umami?
          4) How do you have your coffee? Espresso, Long Black, Flat White ..?

          • @LimeBlueCoffee: At the very beginning I brewed the coffee under 12 bar, it came out very thick body and a little bit on bitter side. Then changed to 9bar which is better, now around 6bar it tastes cleaner. I like sweet fruity taste more than chocolate. I did not have good experience with Brazilian beans. I find they are very bitter. However I after reading the comments here, I would love to give it a try. Having said that, my grinder is conical burr set, it can’t really produce very clean body anyway. My machine doesn’t allow me to alter the temperature that much. 😅

  • Ordered 1kg as I've been meaning to try this out for a long time! 😎

    • Fantastic, very happy you've decided to bite the bullet. Thank you so much for giving us a shot by placing your first Lime Blue order, it really does mean so much to the team!

Fingers crossed you love our fresh coffee :)

  • Great timing. I usually run filter but am trying to get better at brewing espresso. Ordered 2kg to arrive around when I'm done with my current bag.

Love the customer service from you guys, and great coffee too. My favourite of the regular OzB coffee dealers

    • Nice to hear, always fun to experiment and try coffee different ways. If you've been able to tune your filter down to a fine art then I'm sure you'll get the Espresso on point in no time, as filter's a bit trickier to dial in.

Wow it's going to be hard to top "favourite" as a compliment. Thank you truly for placing a other terrific order with us and your complementary message too, both mean a lot. I'm wrapped to know we're in your good books, we'll keep working hard to stay there :)

      • :)

Not my first rodeo with the espresso machine that I've had a few years now - I have a Rancilio Silvia, installed a PID and everything but barely use it. I think my error was trying to start out with light roasts, and I'm having much better success now with a dark roast bean (Aldi Brazil - surprisingly ok, well above my expectations for a supermarket bean).

Would you suggest a finer or coarser grind usually to go from dark roast to your medium/omni roast? I'm hoping you say coarser because I'm on the finest setting right now with the Rocky grinder to get a 1:2 yield ratio. Any finer will require me to mod the grinder…

        • +1

          Appreciate the extra info!

Light beans can pose a bit of an extraction curve ball if the roast is uneven, which is easier to do with a lighter roast than a darker roast. However, if a light roast is done well and there's enough development to suit espresso, then it can be delicious and easy to work with.

Theoretically speaking the lighter the roast the coarser the grind, simply because from a broad view perspective (type, age and growing conditions also play a part) the lighter the roast the denser the coffee, the less resistance needed in particle distribution for extraction, hopefully no mod needed :)

  • Ordered a kilo for the first time. I'll see how it tastes and looking forward to buying more in the future.

    Cheers!

    • Love the sound of that!

Thank you so much for placing your first order with us, it really does mean so much and is an opportunity we won't take for granted :)

  • Showing as $29.99 for me is this deal still running?

    • It sure it ;)

I believe you've got 2x500g selected. 1x1kg is $26.39, on the product page under the packaging menu you can select between 500g and 1kg packaging.

      • There we go! Any chance you can do anything on the decaf? Wanting to add a 500g bag of decaf as well to the order

        • Nice!

We don't have enough green/raw decaf in stock at the moment to supply a deal, just our regular level which is enough to cover any full-priced decaf orders that come in. I'm sure we'll get extra stock and run a decaf deal at some point in the future, just not yet sure when that will be :)

  • Nice. Coffee was running low and was looking for a deal. Ordered first 500g bag to try.

Question for anyone with a Breville Barista Express machine…
Is the pressure gauge even worth looking at? I have found that to get my shots in range (18g dose, 36g yield in around 25-30 seconds) My pressure reading always seems super high… Basically all the way to the right.
If I try to go by the pressure gauge alone (ie. Needle in the ideal range eg. 10 O'Clock), my extraction would take like 10 seconds which is wayy too fast.
I thought it was just my machine that had something wrong with it, but my mums machine seems to do the same thing.
    Am I doing something wrong?

Also, wondering what the ideal recipe is for these beans? ( With a Breville Barista Express)

Looking forward to trying it :)

    • Looking for the same advice with the Breville Barista Pro. Only difference is no pressure gauge!

If anyone has good settings for this bean, it would be great to know!

      • +1

Hey @dubo1981 really appreciate the order, thank you so much!

        Same advice for your machine:

"As per the recipe ratios on the bag 1:1:18 seconds for milk based unless adding more than 200ml of milk, then I'd recommend our black coffee guide 1:2:27 seconds. For the Barista Pro I'd recommend trying a 16-18 gram dose, 20 grams may be a bit too much for the 54mm basket :)"

    • Fantastic, thank you so much for pulling the trigger by placing your first order with us, it's truly appreciated!

With regard to your pressure gauge, it's a helpful guide, but shouldn't be the only guide. Your pressure gauge could be faulty, grind too fine and dose too high (resulting in channeling, pressure too high, water tried to release pressure by finding the path of least resistance and bypassing the coffee). The best guide to use is a set of kitchen scales to measure dose and output compared to contact/extraction time. Do your shot's generally have a smooth flow or does the flow wobble or go from slow to super fast? Are your shots full-bodied and tasty or a bit watery?

As per the recipe ratios on the bag 1:1:18 seconds for milk based unless adding more than 200ml of milk, then I'd recommend our black coffee guide 1:2:27 seconds. For the Barista Express I'd recommend trying a 16-18 gram dose, 20 grams may be a bit too much for the 54mm basket :)

      • I have been hearing this 'magic' coffee unique to Melb.
What's the receipe (dose/yield/time) to use to make 'magic' at home?

        • +1

          Morning :)

          Nice question!

A magic is a double ristretto with milk topped up in a 5oz cup or 3/4 full flat white cup

Aim for the following: 1:1:18 seconds topped up with 130ml of steamed milk :)

  • Perfect timing! Ordered :)

    • Fantastic, thank you so much!

Glad the timing was perfect :)

  • Thanks OP, decided to give you guys a go.

    • Thank you so much, that's terrific to hear and an opportunity don't take for granted!!!

  • Based on the comments here, I've pulled the trigger. Hoping for a winner!

    • Wonderful, thank you so the order and opportunity, very happy you've given us a shot :)

  • +1

Lime blue is good coffee. It's my regular. Too many poor packs between both myself and my girlfriends household with other suppliers. We simply don't use any other supplier at all anymore.
Consistently good coffee with lime blue.
    Brilliant service by LB.
Small adjustment to grind as they age and every cup is good.
Tom is great to deal with and (presume that's himself answering emails rather than someone under his name)
The delayed dispatch service is good…as is, being able to bring it fwd, totally fuss free, when I ran out of coffee earlier than expected as gave beans away, and subsequently got friends hooked on LB too, who are now regular customers too.
    CAVEAT:
Australia Post absolutely sucks!! Shamefully so!!
I had a delayed dispatch for October, (that can't remember the exact date now) but quick email to Tom, morning of 27th Sept and beans roasted on 26th Sept, were dispatched that day, 27th Sept, that same day I emailed asking if it was possible to bring fwd the dispatch date of my pre-order, literally a short while later confirmed dispatch email by Tom with tracking details.
(and asked to also readjust the late October and Nov pre orders too, and this wasn't even an issue at all)
Received the beans yesterday afternoon, the 11th October, whilst at work. Opened this morning, 12th Oct.
14 days from dispatch to arrive to WA!!!
15 days to opening for morning coffee.
16 days from roast date to enjoying that great smell and taste I look fwd to.(27/09-12/10)
Tom and LB coffee is great.
Unfortunately…Australia Post just simply isn't. Does reflect on the seller, but understand, as soon as it's handed over, its out of their hands.
Through recent email exchange, Tom suggested in future orders I opt to pay for the more expensive express delivery option, I've always opted for the basic $6.99 delivery option on each order.
I've got two pre orders booked for early and for late November, which already paid for the basic shipping option on those.
After that, future orders, I will have to opt for the much more expensive $13 express option.
TLDR: LB coffee is great, Australia Post just isn't.

  • Dual boiler + SGP
20g + grind set at 8 but flow is too fast, getting 20g out in 12 secs. Pressure only reach 5 bars. Anyone else have similar problem?

    • Hey @BellaWii glad you reached out to check!

If I had to guess I'd say the grind is too fine, resulting in channeling (water finding the path of least resistance by bypassing the coffee). Unless of course your burrs have had a decent amount of use and are starting to wear, in which case the grind may be too coarse. Rather than me guessing, let's try to nail down the simple solution. When you get sec could you please email the following to [email protected] :)

      1) A photo of the coffee puck right after the show is finished while it's still in the basket

      2) A photo of the coffee puck after extraction once you've knocked it out of the basket

      3) A video of the shot extracting

      • Thanks, will do.

        • :)

          • @LimeBlueCoffee: Just emailed you the video and 2 photos of the puck.

            • @BellaWii: Very helpful, much appreciated!

              Received and replied :)

              • @LimeBlueCoffee: Thanks Tom, will try with a finer grind setting.
Also discovered last night about turbo shots from Lance Hedrick which is the opposite of current thinking so will also give that a try.

                • @BellaWii: Sure thing, coffee experiments can be fun, never know your luck you may find your new go to shot :)

  • I’m having no luck with this blend with my Delongi magnifica S I think it’s called.
It’s automatic so I can only adjust the grind.

The other blend on sale that sold out in the last deal was a 10/10 though.

    • Appreciate you taking the time to reach out and sharing that wonderful 10/10 feedback, woohoo, thank you!!!

Automatic machines can be more restrictive than manual machines in terms of settings changes. However, the good news is there's a bit of wriggle room with you machine. Within the machine parameters, grind, dose, volumetric and temp can all be altered. When you get a set can you please send an email to [email protected] describing the issue then we'll move towards next steps resolution :)

  • OP any new deal is coming up? Coffee is running low now lol

    • Talk about a perfectly timed comment, we literally just launched our new deal and new featured Single Origin this morning https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/733015 :)

      • Perfect timing, order is placed
        Cheers

        • Wonderful, thank you so much :) :) :)
