Come and celebrate OzBargain's 16th Birthday!

Scotty will be sponsoring the event and we will hopefully have some new OzBargain t-shirts to hand out.

The restaurant will be chosen closer to the date depending on numbers but it will be in Chatswood. Due to the large number of no-shows in previous years, a $5 (fully-refundable) deposit will be required for you to secure your spot.

17/10/2022 update:

I’ve made a booking at Thai Naan (http://thainaan.com.au/). It’s ~11 minute walk from Chatswood station and seems to be a well reviewed Thai restaurant.

We will be doing the banquet menu ($35 per person) which consists of the following:

Entree
- Satay chicken
- Fish cake
- Spring roll
- Curry puff

Main
- Green or red curry chicken
- Garlic beef
- Chilli basil seafood
- Pad thai noodle chicken
- Steamed rice

28/10/2022 update:

We’ve got just over 30 confirmed attendees. I’ve called the restaurant and have secured the larger private room which can fit up to 50 people, so that will be the attendance cap.

I’ve also enquired about dietary requirements and can confirm that they can accommodate all dietary requirements (e.g. peanuts, vegetarian, vegan, FODMAP). If you have particular dietary needs please PM me to let me know. It might also make sense for you to order something separate from the menu (and not go with the standard banquet).

I’ve been PMing those who have made a deposit to confirm that I have received it. If you have paid but not received a confirmation it’s likely because your PMs are turned off. So please turn on PMs if you would like a deposit confirmation.

  Would be a maximum of 16 people per group so not a bad idea for a smaller gathering. Especially if you choose the $19 per race days.
  
  Downside is there's no food but the entertainment quarter nearby has some good places when open.

Thanks for those who have voted on the poll. I'll let it run a few more days to get a better idea of numbers and early next week I'll call up a few restaurants to confirm the location and will also open up formal registration. I will be using Beemit to take the $5 deposits and am planning on providing refunds with cash on the day.

Feel free to suggest restaurants too but I can't guarantee that I will go with them because it'll depend on capacity, ability to book and dietary requirements.

  I can ask about dietary options. I'm fairly certain they can do a vegetarian/vegan option for at least a few of the dishes.
  
  There's also someone attending who is allergic to peanuts so I will be requesting at least one set of peanut free dishes.

@dust Not sure how you decided on this restaurant but I've been there before and it is not very good Thai.
In fact, it was so dissatisfying I never went back.

And thinking back, the lady wasn't very happy with me using my entertainment book voucher at lunch as well.
Not bargain friendly place imho.

  I haven't been to the restaurant before so can't comment on the quality of the food. It had a relatively high rating on Google reviews, had a set menu and can accommodate a larger group, can take bookings, can do a private room and the set menu is within the $35pp limit so that's how I chose it.
  
  I'm not going to change the location now but if anybody who has registered is no longer keen to go because of that, feel free to PM me and I'm happy to refund your deposit.
  
  That being said, if you have another location in mind that would be better please let me know, would be good to know for future events (for both OzBargain and other occassions)!
