  • seems like its only Macquarie centre store. everywhere else its priced at $9.

  • +14

Any PC version around this price? Wouldn’t mind pay $5 just for the laughs

    • That's what I'm waiting for.

Current cheapest price for pc I can find is $24.95 from Amazon AU.

    • +2

Amazon had 2042 PC version for like $9 once w/ free shipping, they wouldn't send me the key via email, they actually paid someone to deliver a diskless DVD cover with the key inside. It's possible it may happen again.

How they make profit from that? No clue

The game is fun though, I did like the remastered El Alamein and Battle of the Bulge maps. (Wish they did Battle of Midway though, I loved that map)

      • +3

They're avoiding fraud. I sold digital stuff in the past on ebay, sent codes after payment's received and was scammed a few times, such as the buyer claimed their account got hacked and charged back. Since it's digital, no seller protection.

The more they sell, the less others do and the more market share they take. People will go to them first in the future looking for things.

        • Yeh done the same , they said their son used their account so PayPal refunded them

Even though i sent the code thru ebay messaging system no help for me

          Always post

      • I bought battlefield 5 for $5 on Amazon once, they paid someone to deliver the diskless DVD cover but without a code in it. Had drive to return to get a replacement sent to me couple days later, that was fun

      • +1

Yeah, that's the retail Origin PC version they had in stores (code but no disc), same deal as BFV.

They probably made the bulk of their money from the retail release price of the game (rip off ultimate/gold editions) and the remainder from MTX (skins etc) + battlepass.

    • -1

Such a POS game man. I got it for $9 from Amazon too but I still find it a bad game lol (and I am a BF fan, loved BF3 and BF4).

      • +5

        You missed BF1942 and BF2?
Heaps more fun than BF3 and 4.
Even BF Vietnam was more fun that BF4.

        Horses for courses I guess?

        • I don't like WW1 / WW2 era FPS games.

          • +1

@TChalla: BF2 had a contemporary setting when it came out (mid 00s). Still my favourite in the series to date but 2042 has been fun, bought a copy for myself and a mate for $5 each and certainly got our money's worth.

        • Which series allow Offline bots via mods? Miss the good old days of bf1942 when there's no internet connection.

    • Just wait and it'll probably be free to play soon

    • Same, waiting for PC versions of battlefield 3, 4, 5. Plus Offline bots ftw

  • +30

Really good prices for an ps5 disc box.
but the game not worth this price.

    • +2

From what I've read there has been quite a number of updates since the launch so guess it's worth trying for $3.60!

      • +27

I said the same thing when I bought it for $5, but it's still not worth it.

      • +5

Yes there has and will continue to be supported until June 2023 at least.

There's been hundreds of fixes and tons of new content added, don't mind the circlejerk, enjoy it.

        https://www.ea.com/games/battlefield/battlefield-2042/news

        • +7

Tons of content: like 2 maps, 2 vehicles, 6 weapons, and 2 specialists? The rest of the work has been fixing the stuff that shouldn't of been broken at launch and yet some of it is still broken (like ADS bug).

Just one BFV update had more content than all of 2042 has added at the same point in time (the Pacific update).

Of course the game is worth buying at the current price, but nonetheless a rip off at launch.

      • +11

I was preorder the ultimate edition, still play this game occasionally.

Yes 2042 is getting better, but the foundation is a blackhole, after 1 year, they only gives 2 new maps and less than 10 new weapons, I feel they are giving up on update this game, maybe they will stop updating after seasons 4, to complete thier promise.
A compareson of productiveity, bf4 has 4 dlc in around 1year, it include over 10maps, 20 weapons, and new modes.

But for $3.6, absolutely the game is almost free, it is good deal. Especially for a new bf player, 2042 does not have those OP vehicles. XD

        • +2

From what I understand they are doing the updates only coz of people who have season pass so they cant get refunds or anything.,

        • Especially for a new bf player, 2042 does not have those OP vehicles.

Haha, not from what I saw on Youtube, apparently the Hovercraft is a BEAST! It takes down helicopters, runs up the sides of buildings, flies forever… :D

        • +2

Vehicles are OP AF man. You need to have like 3 whole squads specifically running anti air or anti vehicle to be able to take the vehicles out (which no one does).
only 5% of the population uses a mic which means team work is non existent, people either camp with a sniper or in a vehicle, terrible game play really, infantry life is terrible in this, probably like Russian soldiers right now.

  • +7

How the mighty have fallen. Not even a year old and in the bargain bin. I feel for die-hards like JackFrags.

    • He's doing just fine with COD videos

      • Yeh, and Hunt Showdown, which, I'll be honest, I enjoy more than BF2042.

    • +3

He's more of a paid shill these days than die-hard fan of Battlefield. Including pumping up 2042 at release when it sucked for those EA $$.

      • Nah, he was pretty brutal with BF2042 before release, but he could only go so far or he'd lose his EA partner access. He doesn't get paid by EA, but he certainly gets access no normal player does.

        • Yep he Even often plays with the DICE community manager , no chance he’s going to screw up that kind of relationship with the devs

  • +4

Only needs to come down another $3.70

  • +7

Cheaper than buying an actual coaster!

  • +10

Thanks op. This is $3.20 and comes with 4 pieces…😅

    https://www.bigw.com.au/product/craftsmart-round-coasters-4p…

    • +1

but the disc box can be used as a doorstopper!

      • +2

Wonder if anyone will just buy up all the stock for empty replacement blu ray boxes? 😆

        • +1

I certainly did when Anthem hit $1 for Xbox :)

  • +29

Cheapest hardcopy game I've bought was Age of Empires in a Nutri-Grain box.

    Good times.

    • +7

Remember the Pizza Hut promo with Call of Duty and the Sims? No AOE but I remember playing that a lot. I think it was Allied Assault?

      • +3

Yes! That was in 2006. Also the last time I enjoyed Battlefield.

      • +1

haha yeah I worked at Pizza Hut at the time… memories :')

      • +2

with Call of Duty and the Sims? No AOE but I remember playing that a lot. I think it was Allied Assault

Allied Assault is a Medal of Honor game, not Call of Duty.

        • You're right, I knew it didn't sound quite right

  • LOL

  • wow one of the chepest ps5 game around :)

  • +2

Will EA learn from this? It was my favourite FPS franchise.

    • +2

Agreed, BF3 still has the best maps, BF4 was also great and then …

      • I enjoyed BF5, but yeah, progression is too slow

      • +2

BFBC2 was also good. Hell, I probably had more fun playing battlefield heroes than this game.

  • +1

Awesome title. Already 20 years ahead 😀

  • +3

Worth it for sure, picked it up since season 2's update and it's been great, no issues from my end ✔️

    • +1

Dunno why you’re downvoted. I agree, it’s gotten a lot better and is a lot of fun.

      • The die hard BF fans are super salty but I'm having fun with the game. Better than Overwatch2.

        • +3

Likewise. It is a tonne of fun atm despite some issues but for the most part just feels like a BF4. I love changing the scopes etc on the fly too.

      • Exactly… Unfortunately these days if someone else's opinion doesn't match their own, it equals a down vote 🤣

  • has the game gotten any better?

i'm a long time BF fan, and i bought it at full price at launch, then refunded it when it wouldn't work.
i'd consider getting back into it on PC if the game was fixed and still pretty active

    • +1

It has gotten a lot better imo. I play it a lot of late. It is relatively active. You still get some games with AI running about but it’s still better than it was.

It’s doing the usual BF fashion, much better game 12 months after launch.

  • It took me 100 on launch day…

  • +2

I still can't get over the fact they discountinued support for BattleFront 2 for this total disaster of a game.

  • -3

Don't buy it whatever the price, this game isn't worth the space on your hard drive.

    • +1

It's only 50gb. Come on, Warzone is 280gb!!

      • Warzone was actually playable.

        • +1

          So is Battlefield 2042..

          • +1

@HandsomeMonkey: Personal view in all honesty, I was just so massively disappointed in it when it came out that I haven't been able to switch it back on. Obviously to each their own and at this price it probably is worth a shot for most people, I just wouldn't recommend it to anyone and I think there time could be better spent enjoying something else.

            • +2

@Bargain Slut: When was your last time playing it? Maybe you should give it another go. It's not too bad.. Give it a chance at least it's not shit COD where every games you entered you get run down like a shit by those so called pro gamers with level 300-500 and their Dinosaurs skins.

  • +5

@timmeh15 Looks like you made headlines!

      "an ozbargains user"

      What is game journalism

      • https://press-start.com.au/ is great for AU gaming news.

        • I liked the time they took my mate's photo for an article about a target clearance and then made me out to be the bad guy for questioning them on that

    • +6

David Smith spent three years at uni and nine years working in the media to be churning out Ozbargain news

    • +4

My first headline famous thanks to DICE and EA's incompetence!

  • I paid $150, sooo this is about 98% off.

    • +1

RRP is $110 AUD so what were you doing…

      • +3

Ordered the deluxe or something digitally, got greedy and wanted early access. Up there with one of my most grave mistakes.

        • Dude, my condolences. Here, have a +

  • +1

They should've just re-skinned BFV with modern vehicles and weapons, and new maps. This game was a major disappointment.

  • +1

How did they get this game o so wrong?

  • +2

I wait a little longer for the $2 deal.

    • Yeah just play your other games while we wait for this game to get to the right price.

      No need to waste money.

      Too many disappointments.

I don't know if I can do the same for cod though the beta was fun but even $50 for a new cod these days feels like too much when so many good games being released on prime and humble bundle.

  • +2

so you have made headline news it seems….(https://www.kotaku.com.au/2022/10/guy-buys-ps5-copy-of-battl…)

  • Lol this is so sad

  • +1

    come on Amazon, price match

  • +1

They should be giving people $3.60 to take it, not charging them. As a long time fan since the original battlefield 1942 playing on a 56k modem, even with my origin premier registration I didnt bother loading this game up. It can go into the corner with 2142 and stay there.

    • +1

Just the shopping to the big w store for these game would have costed more than $3.6 a copy.

  • Scans at $9 at BIG W Mirrabooka, they won't drop the price the guy said.

  • hey OP, did you know you are posted as a scoop of news in some website? "Guy Buys PS5 Copy Of Battlefield 2042 From Big W For $3.60" LOL even with your picture of receipt there
    https://www.kotaku.com.au/2022/10/guy-buys-ps5-copy-of-battl…

    • +1

isn't that photo copyrighted by the uploader?

    • Haha yeh couple of earlier comments have flagged it. Pretty proud to made it into Kotaku lol!

  • Daylight robbery

  • BF1942… Those were the days.

Lesson learnt here for us all:
    1. Never pre-order
    2. Never buy anything promoted as "Deluxe"
    3. As an OzBargainer, never, ever buy full price

  • Very Cheap, good pickup.
