Decent price for the Samsung Galaxy Watch4, though not the historical lowest price. Unfortunately the 10% coupon won't apply and the only available colour that is on sale is this 40mm Silver / White Band SKU.

  • oh no, I just bought this for $349 from them. Will see if they can retrospectively price match.

    • +1

If you bought it within two weeks, you can get the difference back if you got it at JB. Just go in and ask.

    • -1

Just buy a new one and return it on the old invoice.

      • With electronics they'll most likely check the serial number to make sure you're not returning some bogus item

        • +1

I work at JB and we only put in serial numbers if something is faulty.

        • Nah they don't! I less it's an IMEI

        • I did exactly that with a Garmin last year, no problems

  • +3

    Price match please Amazon!

    • Haha that's what I'm hoping for too

anyone can comment on how good is this watch? heard subpar reviews about poor battery life and compatibility with other android phones that are non samsung?

    • +3

Battery is less than one day if your doing exercise

      • Exercise hard using hands… like boxing? My Huawei GT2 lasts me for at least a week even as I train my hands hard and fast.

        • +15

My Casio lasts me 12 years with heavy workout.

        • +1

GT2 = inaccurate heart rate, inaccurate step counter (I checked them), no smarts except one-line notifications when you’ve got your phone with you anyway. No GPS without complicated workaround. Fails both as a fitness tracker and a smart watch. I sold mine. But if you need long battery life for a non-smart watch that is really only useful for telling the time, it’s excellent.

      • The case with most smart watches.

    • +2

If it's any help, my 44mm has about 20% battery left after each day of 7 hours of tracking skiing. A normal day sees more than 50% remaining. You'd want to pair it with a Galaxy phone for the best feature integration and to use the blood pressure monitor (due to the Health Monitor app being a requirement).

      • Interested in how accurate the blood pressure reading (say against a home blood pressure monitor?)

        • +1

Not too sure as I only had access to a standalone monitor once at my GP to calibrate the watch (needs to be done monthly) and didn't compare. Looks like it's just okay if this is anything to go by. That kind of thing didn't impact my purchasing decision.

        • You need to calibrate the watch using a home blood pressure. So most likely that the readings will be closed to the home blood pressure.

          • @AirJordan23: I have this watch, its shit and okay at best. The most annoying thing about it when your doing a workout and wanna see your heart rate 50% of the time it wont bother updating it. The blood pressure monitor js inaccurate as ive tested it with the machkne and the watch and got two different readings. The pulse oxymeter is pretty accurate however

    • In terms of exercising, garmin fenix but minus all the fancy stuff

    • Just bought a Samsung phone a few days ago because a lot of the fitness history stuff is locked too Samsung.. found out after buying the classic watch4 last week. It's a pain in the….

      • dont XDA have a work around for the samsung locked stuff ?

      • Not completely true. You can just install the Samsung Health app from apkmirror. I have it working perfectly on a Huawei phone.

  • +3

I've had one for 6 months now. Good for exercising. Works great with my S21fe. Battery life < 2 days. From my experience accurate distance and heart rate monitoring. Christmas present sorted for the mrs :) thanks Op.

  • I had a Active Watch 2 and it was horrible and eventually died. Compared to an Apple watch SE it wasn't even in the ball park.

  • +3

Which one is better? Fitbit sense or this one?

I'm waiting for a new galaxy fit. Think that's a better fit for most people here

Google selling 41mm pixel watch for $549 yikes!

  • Still wearing my Gear S3 Frontier bought at launch!!! Nearly 6 years in, i am still getting a days worth of battery life.

But it does not track heart rate any more and also the steps and workout are not properly tracked!!

Just started to go to gym again and an thinking i should upgrade it!

Can anyone help suggest if this will be a good watch to buy.

    Thanks

    • +1

Yes i upgraded from S3 frontier to this watch about 3 months ago and this is definitely better in tracking workouts. Battery lasts a bit longer and much faster to charge. ECG feature quite nice too. Would recommend 👌

      • Thanks will definitely look into this one

  • According to user reviews on amazon, the battery life is not great.

Talking about smart watch, I think apple watch is the one to choose. Unfortunately I am with android for many years. That's why I bought a band for basic use. Battery life does matters.

  • I find the back very uncomfortable after time for some reason. Maybe I'm not used to watches, or because it's curved? My skin gets itchy after wearing it a couple days (daytime only).
But good news it lasts ages since I don't use it.

    • +1

Hii, I would recommend changing to a breathable, more comfortable band

20mm Bands Compatible with Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 41mm / Active 2 (44mm/40mm) / Active / Galaxy Watch 42mm Band, 20mm Adjustable Stainless Steel Mesh Loop Replacement Wristband Strap (Black #20mm) https://amzn.asia/d/80XFlFz

      I have this one

      • It's not the band, but the back of the watch. Where it pulses the green light. I wasn't sure if it was the light, or just the metal itself.

        • They improved on watch 5

    • I have the Samsung Galaxy Watch4 46mm Classic and it took a while to get used to (a week or so) and its heavy with the curve taking time to adjust. I suggest cleaning it with iso or a lens wipe each say as stuff does build up. If your skin gets itchy (generally an allergy) you can try an antihistamine and if that stops the itchiness, you may have a slight allergy to the material used (Samsung uses an alloy with nickel). My optom was going over this with me the other day and he stated he's seeing more cases of people having reactions (not sure why the change is happening), but he stated the nickel, and some plastics react with some people. His suggestion was a titanium base, or noble metal base, if you are having a reaction to the material.

You could also consider a different band material (Silicon, Rubber, Metal, Canvas). It's likely sweat rash, but just something to consider if it keeps happening to you.

      • +1

I keep the band quite loose. But then the watch back thinks it's off, so each time I have to do the code again. I think it's the metal.

    • Make sure you keep the area clean. Also clean the watch. Some people sweat more than others, sweat and friction will irritate the area. Just need to loosen the band or get a more breathable band.

  • This or huawei gt 3? Can huawei be used unrestricted in Australia?

Thinking hard between this and Watch5? Never owned a smartwatch. I don't know if Watch5 is worth the price compared to Watch4 is currently being heavily discounted?

    • I'm making the same decision right now and I've heard the biggest difference is the battery life which is making me lean towards the Watch5 even though I would rather spend the Watch4 amount.

      • I see that Watch5 has a 15% battery bigger. I dont know if 15% is such a big difference tho? Yet I'm still seeing 'not so great' reviews about Watch5 battery

        • The reviews aren't great for the Watch4's battery either which is why even that 15% seems like it could matter once the watch is a year or two old?
But otherwise they are still virtually identical. And since ECG & Blood pressure require Samsung phones, it doesn't make me want to spend as much on it.

          • @electioncliff: There are workarounds for ECG and BP on XDA.

Willing to compromise on those (and the battery life) at this price point.

Was looking at the Pixel Watch but can't really justify the $250 price difference.

            • @dontpanic: Oh yeah 100%. ECG and BP aren't the most important to me anyway. I'm thinking of comprising to the 4's battery cause the difference is big enough.

Ditto with the Pixel watch, I even have a Pixel phone but that price is even higher than the Watch5.

              • @electioncliff: At this price, I can wait and see how the Pixel Watch fares in long term reviews, and maybe pick up a deal later on, and then sell the GW4 for not too much of a loss…

…or I may just keep it.

            • +1

@dontpanic: I was also waiting for the pixel watch but the released price drives me off. At that high price point i would rather just go with watch5 already. (I have samsung phone)

              • +1

                @123nkj: Yeah, it's a no brainer at $200.

I've only been playing around with the new watch for a few hours, but I don't think I can justify $550 on a WearOS watch just yet. The ecosystem isn't there yet. Google should really have gone with a bit of a loss leader on the Pixel Watch (Gen 1 at least) to get some more developers over to it.

  • The Samsung watch bands are on special at JB as well.

  • has this expired? still comes up on google

Really disheartened by the fact that no android smartwatch is as accurate as Apple Watch.
Hope Pixel Watch do better than competitions but quite pricy
