The drive’s features up to 20TB capacity. ??

    • Copied pasted from Amazon. Remove.

  • Given the bulky double-sized case, does anyone know if this contains two physical drives?

    • +1

      Given the bulky double-sized case

Amazon Product Image has been stretched. It's most likely a single 16TB HDD inside.

      • Ah yes, I see the stretched logo, I should have noticed. Thanks for your response! :-)

  • Thanks Op, greatly appreciated, but….

    I'm waiting for the 18TB and 20TB deals….

    • +4

The 20TB is also $486 ($24.3 / TB) if you're interested, title says 8TB but the capacity says 20TB and ASIN links to 20TB on Amazon UK.

      • Is ASIN the word of truth for Amazon logistics? The pic shows a 18TB to make things even more confusing

        • +2

Yes, the same thing happened with the Star Wars Lightsaber. The ASIN (Amazon Standard Identification Number) mostly always represents the correct product in the location it's from. The UK Listing is correct and that's what you would receive.

    • 18TB was $436 week ago.

    • 18TB is $411.08 on lightning deal

  • Would these be the models with the Red Pro NAS drives in them?

    • +1

Some of the larger ones maybe - 20GB might be but you might want to research that more via /r/datahoarders

Usually they are whitelabeled drives in the 14-18GB sizes, my last 14TB drives were whitelabelled EDFZ models, sourced very late last year and delivered in Jan 2022.

More cheap drives I don't need? Aw shucks

  • Several negative reviews from AU buyers with a few even calling him a scammer? Should I buy or wait for another deal from a different seller?

    • I’d dare say those negative reviews were from a third party seller. These are Amazon UK.

  • +1

6% isn't such a great bargain, will wait for at least 25% or more. Looks like you don't get a AU power adaptor which is lame

    • It's cheaper than it has been in the last 11 months according to the three wise camels, solid price for 16TB even with the weak AUD.

    • Contact WD for a free AU adapter delivered. Worked for me with the 18TB.

  • And so close to black Friday deals…. Think I'll wait

  • This is loudest HDD I've ever owned. Especially when it spins up. Sounds like a long, drawn out fart, arse flaps vibrating.

    • Might be the data that you are storing on that HDD.

    • Wait till you hear the Seagate EXOS drives, makes the WDs whisper quiet in comparison.

      • weird. I have two ironwolf pro and they are very quiet
