Which VR Headset Do You Use?

VR Headsets are quite popular deals. I'm interested to know what is the uptake like on Ozbargain.

Few extra questions:

  • What are your favourite apps?
  • Have you used VR for productivity(eg: Immersed VR, Horizon Workrooms, etc)?
  • Any features that you're waiting for (eg: Eyetracking)?
  • For users of Standalone headsets, are you using PCVR at all?

If you answered none:

  • Are you waiting for a future release?
  • Are you considering purchasing a VR headset in the future?

HTC Vive for work (3D model reviews & clash detection) and PSVR at home for play.

I enjoy it somewhat but still find VR to be gimmicky. Most likely will get PSVR2 on launch too as seems there's strong line-up of games coming so will see if the shine wears off quick on that too.

I have zero intention or desire to use Facebook or hardware produced and controlled by them so no Oculus for me.

Civil and Infrastructure Engineering i.e. bridges, train stations, hospitals, high-rise buildings etc.

no. VR, as it stands, is not worth of the "virtual reality" title. when i think of virtual reality, my mind goes to scenes like those in ready player one, i will wait until that becomes reality, if it becomes reality.

Might grab an oculus 2 if they discount it back to it's pre price rise price for Black Friday. But with the Pro around the corner, might not be worth it so who knows?!?

Quest 2, cheaper overall, wireless, and able to stream PCVR content, has the most popular user base meaning whatever problems you have there's usually solutions out there

Same, don't really like the forced linking to all the meta bullshit but it's a great product at a decent price point and access to steam vr games is solid.

      • Yeah me neither, totally agree with you

I use Pimax, its the best headset on the market if you ignore some of its lack of polish and lack of out of the box wireless.

Valve Index for about 2 months now. first month took a while to setup. I wear glasses and image was blurry even while wearing glasses. tried contacts, hurts my eyes. ended up getting prescription lenses for the index. its perfect now. use it for gaming. Half Life Alyx, HL2 and a bit of casual online Multiplayer. loving it so far.

  • I'm using a Quest 2 with HTC Deluxe Audio Strap, prescription inserts.

I am currently playing HL2 and planning a second play-through of HLA using Airlink(first play through was on a Samsung Odyssey+).

I haven't done any real productivity yet, though have tried:

    • Horizon Workrooms with hand tracking
    • Plan to try Immersed for a day of work

I would be interested to see what Workrooms or other chat programs would be like with face-tracking integrated.

Vive pro with the wireless adapter powered by a 3070 card - absolutely awesome :)

Best games so far: Half Life Alyx, Wanderer, Arizona Sunshine, Beat Saber, The Room VR, I expect you to die, Rush, The Wizards, Superhot, Skyrim VR

OG HTC Vive. Tracking is immensely better than other wireless headsets I've tried. The downside of it being not very portable and the set up can take a bit of time. But if it's going to be in one spot then I would recommend the newer models. I've also swapped out my controllers for the Valve index ones for better comfort.
