Head Graphene 360+ Extreme Tour Tennis Racquet $169.99 Delivered (Was $199.99) @ Tennis Direct

60

First time poster so go easy!

Previous generation Head Extreme Tour. It's a spin-friendly racquet that is catered more towards the intermediate to advanced player. Most reviewers hate playing with it without customisation. However once customised (add lead tape to the hoop and/or handle), it becomes a formidable player's stick.

it becomes a formidable player's stick.

I see what you did there.

Seems like a good deal. Good time to get head.

    • It is the best price I have seen for this racquet. The current model Head Extreme Tour retails for $322.99 at the same store.

  • How much is it normally ?

    • Please see the link above.

      • no mention of the normal price in the description.

        Why is this a bargain?

When launched, it was priced at $299.99. Then it was reduced to $199.99. Now $30 off the last reduced price.

Good deal for a popular racquet (needs a little bit of lead tape at 3"&9" though)

    • Please educate me, what does this mean/do re lead tape. Maybe this is why my tennis is so bad, I’ve got no lead tape.

Unfortunately adding lead tape to a racquet does not necessarily mean you will automatically play better. There are a few reasons why players add weight (lead) to their racquet. Main ones are for balance and stability. This Head Extreme Tour is light at 305g unstrung. Adding weight to the 3 and 9 o'clock positions in the hoop gives you stability, especially on the volleys. Adding weight at the 12 o'clock position gives you "plow through". Adding weight in the handle makes the racquet feels head-light. These are just the very basics, but if you want to know more, the internet is full of resources for this kind of stuff.

        • Thank you. I'll give it a go on my Nintendo racquet tonight and let you know how it goes. But seriously thank you for the quick explanation.

          • @Typo: You're most welcome! Nintendo racquet LOL.

Stabilises the racquet, reduces vibration, adds more "oomph" to your returns.
I'm a big fan of it and its not just for advanced players, I was stringing for a lot of people at my club and got them to try lead tape and even the older women preferred the feel of the frame despite concerns about the added weight.

        • Thanks for sharing. I don't normally play with lead tape, but will do when my Head Extreme Tour arrives.

@arduino-x: I bought a decent sized roll of it years ago but if I was starting from scratch I'd probably use tungsten tape instead, similar weight and no worries about toxicity.

  • I just received it today! Great racquet. Shame I didn't get two at the time.
    Thanks OP!
