Ovela 68L Motion Sensor Kitchen Rubbish Bin $39.99 + Delivery ($0 with Kogan First) @ Kogan

810

Ovela 68L Motion Sensor Kitchen Rubbish Bin is on sale today only $39.99. I just bought one and thought I'd share in an unofficial capacity as I think it's a great price. I did a quick search of Ozbargain and this seems like an all time low for this type of bin in this size.
Available in black or chrome finish.

Previously $49.99 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/536952

And something similar was $59.70 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/672097

    • Is this same as devanti?

      • Functionality? Yes. Exactly the same bin? No.

How often do you need to replace the batteries on bins like this?

    • 4 rechargeable AA's maybe last 4-6 months before needing a recharge.

  • +10

This is the same bin for $45 delivered. No Plus needed. Use code: HGSNS (If you have run out of free Kogan Plus) Can also try the eBay deal coupons to see if you can get it lower.

Isn't motion sensor less practical than using a pedal?! I struggle to find a simple one for such a cheap price.

    • +2

I've had a motion sensor bin for a few years and wouldn't go back to a pedal bin. It's 2022, why use 3 limbs to open the bin and scrape dinner plates off when you can just use 2? :)

      • Isn’t 2 unlucky

  • +2

It's 40cm wide and almost 80cm tall, are you kidding that's way too big for a kitchen bin.

    • +10

I always wish my kitchen bin was bigger. I’d bring the wheely bin in if I could.

      • +2

But then your rubbish lives in your kitchen for a long time. Whatever floats your boat!

        • With the separation of green waste from other stuff that ain't the case any more. Chuck the green waste out to the organics bin daily - the other stuff doesn't smell.

        • Ehh it was mostly sarcasm. But I feel that way every time I have to take a bag to the wheely bin. Seems like I'm doing it endlessly.

      • I presently use a 27L lift top bin. This is 3X the size and cost. Bought it but now having second thoughts

  • Thanks, happy to have a crack at this price - esp given Kmart/Big w basic bins this size cost roughly the same if not more and this looks nicer

Buyer beware. You get what you pay for. Purchased this one thinking the reviews looked good, broke after a couple of months the sensor was horrendous and eventually it just stopped working and tried different batteries oh and the bin was out of shape and sticking out from the top part where the flap machine sits on. Took video evidence and sent to kogan for a refund and threw the bin out. Kogan then requested we give the bin back to them and they will give our money back had to fight them to get a voucher in the end. It’s just a cheap shit product from a shitty company.

Edit: Think I’m more salty because I paid close to $90 for mine and not the price in this bargain.

Agree, cheaply made but at this price it's ok. I found you need to fiddle with the springs in the battery compartment to make sure you have proper contact as it will move and stop working.

  • Remember - big bins need big bags!
Took some getting used to after using nothing bigger than a 25L bin for the good part of a decade.

    • I like big bins i cannot lie! You need to empty them in to the wheelie bin less often, a win for the lazy. :)

  • +2

I can't recommend kogan at all due to their terrible cs support, such a poor pain (and huge waste of time) to deal with.

  • 68L…. That's about 3 times the size of my current kitchen bin. That is way too big

  • I really hate spending my money on rubbish.

  • Where do you get the bin bags for this?

    • +2

      At a store.

    • +1

      Ask your mum.

  • I don't have this bin but notice people are asking about bin bags. When single use plastic bags were cancelled we went bagless in our bins. We store bones and meat pads in an old ice cream container in fridge until night before bin day. Vegie scraps go to compost or worm farm so no need for bin liners.

  • I have this bin for about a year as I have everything electronic in my house..kind of wish I just bought a pedal bin.

Batteries need replacing more often than I'd like. Can't choose how long it stays open for (especially when batteries start dying, it's like a second). And guests never know how to use it.

Will probably replace with pedal bin. I've realised not everything needs to be electronic haha

    • Doesn't it stay open if you press the open button?

  • I just received mine and it doesn't seem like the sensor works. Is there some function setting I'm missing? I have read through the instruction manual.

    • I got mine and it works. Try contacting support. They'll probably offer to send a replacement if they have stock.

  • Recieved mine today. Rubbish quality and insanely huge. Gave it away.

    • 68L is massive. My normal kitchen bin is 15L.

      • Yeah my stuff up.

  • anyones bin stopped working already ??
