$500 after cashback for an Atom? thats a bit much and this isnt 2010…

    • It has blu-ray, and dual core ION so it is good as a HTPC. Try finding a blu-ray PVR for that price. There needs to be a remote bundled in as well though.

Can't easily record anything unless you spend more on additional hardware.

Pretty expensive for what it is.

However I'm probably bias, as I love to build HTPCs.

  • The lack of CPU grunt is the main issue. Would've been nice if they had upgraded the Atom to a mobile Sandy Bridge CPU.

  • would pay this price for an i3 variant, the ATOM name has been tarnished :p

  • Rather get an HP Microserver and throw in a cheap graphics card and bluray drive for a HTPC.

  • I bought ASUS EB1501 (without blueray) 2 years ago for my parents, and it was only $395. The main problem with the machine is extremely slow CPU and cannot upgrade memory. I guess EP1501P suffers similar problems.

Minimum spec for 2012 should be i3 at least ~
