PlayStation 5 Digital Edition $649 + Delivery ($0 C&C/In-Store) @ JB Hi-Fi

301

Hi all, was trying my luck wanting to put my name down pre-ordering a PS5 digital version and it turned out they got tons of stock. So I ended up picking one up at $649 as a stand alone item.

Not sure whether it's just Broadway or across the country, so you might want to give your local store a call tomorrow morning.

Any chance it’s a PS5 emulator running on Google Pixel?

    • +1

LOL I have no idea why the picture of Pixel is there

  • ngl ps5 this size is preferred.

  • I've forgotten, is this old price or new price?

    • +2

New price, it was $599 previously.

      • +1

It actually seems cheap back then…

Amazon has had the PS5 disc console now for several days without selling out (and still available at time of comment) but bundled with Horizon Forbidden West and $894 RRP. Even at that price better value over digital only console.

COVID-19 mandatory isolation comes to an end, coincidently.

I reckon they realise that all the halfwits have already bought a PS5, only the smarter people left.

        • +3

No, pretty sure it was the halfwits complaining about not being able to get one. Despite it only requiring moderate effort and a tiny bit of persistence.

          • @sickaunt: That's true actually. Not sure how hard it is to set up alerts on OzB and even alerts on twitter for PS5 stock page. I used to learn a lot from OzB which made me smarter as I'd learn from other posters, nowadays I feel like I'm getting dumber reading many posts.

        • Halfwits are the ones that bought overpriced PS5s on eBay.

Careful on the digital edition. It feels really bad when you see sales on Ozbargains for new games at $79 or something only to find the digital price is $120.

yea this is a false economy

its fine to go discless in Microsoft land as they have gamepass

but Sony are really hitting your hard at RRP for their digital content…

Totally understand where you two are coming from.
Being someone who hasn't owned a console for 4 years and only will play an hour or two a day, I rather spend $150 on psn plus rather than disc version (hopefully the exploit on Turkish store can be working again). And I honestly don't care if I only get to play the game a year or two later.

        Again, this is just me.

        • +1

There are so many AAA games to play if you subscribe to PS Plus Extra. It will keep you busy for a while.

          • +1

            @KaTst3R: Thats the plan.
I'm on 1 month now, hopefully they will do some promo for black friday next month.

and bc of the much easier time you have dealing with foreign copies. I am all digital, and felt like replaying COD Ghosts earlier for the first time in years. Picked up a copy for $3.85 on Eneba, saw the Mega Drive collection and threw that in too for 2 bucks and change. Almost bought a tonne of other cheapies I didn't need too tbh.

If I could do the same thing on PlayStation I'd have saved the 150 and bought a discless rather than disc. But considering I bought it for the missus to play Ratchet, which we saved like 60 odd on from memory by going on disc, and for me to play the new Spider-Man (which will ideally also be a decent bit cheaper) it's basically paid itself off wih that. Unless you're willing to setup multiple accounts and or prioritize playing on a Turkish one or something, there's no real loopholes on the PSN side of things, disc console is definitely worth it. Even if you buy only one game a year, if they're on average 20/30 bucks cheaper, over the 5 years or so we've (probably…ish) got left with this as the current gen console, you'd have it paid back, and also get a DVD player for your efforts.

Looks finally the scalper party is over 😃

  • Not a bargaining rrp and it's gone up $50

  • My local (Preston - VIC) JB HiFi has stock of the Horizon Forbidden West bundle instore. Its not advertised, but if you ask the sales personal they will sell it to you. Not sure why this strategy is being used by JB HiFi.

    • to stop scalpers?

  • JB Hi-fi has a 2 year warranty on failures over the top of PlayStation's 1year warranty.
(Was worried about a warranty after just a year and having to do the Australian Consumer Guarantee thing if it failed.)
