  • Paid insurance via RAC as they are using the same parent insurance company a few days ago. Will be saving almost $100 with this promo.

Check my post history for my experience with them… 3/10

    • I have added to my list of companies to avoid.

    • Thanks for the comment. I had to claim before and did not have issue with World2Cover. However, maybe the claim amount was too small to be worried by the company.

I like the $0 excess option by World2Cover which priced reasonably cheap vs. Other providers. If $200 or $500 excess, it is near impossible to claim anything (lost luggage, damaged luggage, doctor consult for diarrhoea etc) unless there is a big event.

  • horrible reviews online - 2 out of 5 stars with genuinely worrying comments from previous buyers…

  • Probably I should stay with RAC then ? Presummably better customer service ?

    • odds are, you at least have a physical shop to walk up to ask for the manager.

Not recommended. I bought travel insurance and 6 months after lodging a claim, this is still ongoing. I get the impression that the insurer is looking for every reason not to pay. Any correspondence with the insurer is met with an email that says there will be a delay of up to 20 business days. Unfortunately this is true and it is almost 3 to 4 weeks later that you get a response.

  • Any suggestions for Travel insurance for coming to Australia for overseas nationals.

    • Have a look at Bupa. Not sure any other insurer.

    • to tour or to study? it depends, sometimes it's cheaper if you buy it from their country of origin, because they might be existing customers of the insurance companies over there already and can get better rates.

  • We travel a lot and found Allianz good

  • Pre-existing medical conditions killed these deals for me - https://travelinsurancesaver.com.au/ (NIB cover) seemed to be the best deal that covered me but $430 or less 8% cashback via cashrewards…

  • Would also be very interested to know what people like best as I want to pay soon for travel insurance to Philippines in December for my family.

More interested in no nonsense if we ever need to make a claim as reviews for world2cover sound appalling.

  • any know any cheap travel insurance to Thailand?

    • Not that it's particularly relative now, but avoid 1cover.

I caught corona in thailand when i went in april and they flat out refused to cover anything at all. A friend of mine works for RACV and theirs looks pretty good, i'd go with them.

      • thanks!

    • Just back from TH… used NIB via https://travelinsurancesaver.com.au/ all went well. Price is OK

Our policies provide cover for some coronavirus related events. Cover is not available for loss arising from: government intervention including travel bans, border closures or broadly imposed quarantine requirements; events for which the Government has issued a ‘Do Not Travel’ warning for your destination, or failure to follow advice from official bodies. Your ability to travel may be affected by travel restrictions.

  • Looks to be very affordable for a euro trip for 5 weeks next year, not so worried about the claims process after struggling through a euro cancelled trip in 2020 during COVID (nightmare no matter which insurer you were with).. mid cover seems to cover most things (except COVID, which hopefully is a thing of the past)

    • Anyone know how long the code will last?

      • It’s the entertainment book code, it’s lasted years previously.

      • +1

I have been searching for travel insirance for a few weeks and the code for 20% has been working for a long time, but 25% one only works today when I tested.

        • Yeah, I just bought insurance with them last night using the 20% off code.

  • Any good travel insurance for travel within Australia?

  • Wouldnt touch these. They let me down really badly in Europe when my partner ended up in hospital, we had the top cover. The worst.

  • +1

Used W2C for a trip to NZ earlier this year, had a problem with some lost property and they paid out quickly and without any issues.

  • Go with Allianz or similar brands.

This is a classic example of if you pay peanuts, you get monkeys. Travel insurance is not something to skimp on when you’re spending thousands already to travel overseas.

Alternatively, invest in a amex credit card who offer superior travel insurance and your annual fee will more than cover the cost of what you would pay especially if you are traveling with your partner, kids etc as they are also covered on the same policy.

  • Can anyone recommend an insurance cover that includes Covid on a cruise and has at least 4.5/5 ratings on a reputable rating site like Product Review please?? Or am I dreaming .. 😗 .. ??!! I have a lot of very negative overseas travel insurance experience and a low opinion of the entire industry.

  • Need 2x travel insurance to Canada + Snow for 4 weeks, wasn't expecting 1K+ quote for decent cover. Ouch. Anyone recommend any providers or even just a price range they'd expect?

    • +1

I had an annual multi-trip cover for 2 people with NIB which I used to go to Canada in January - ~$800 for 2 people. (including snow cover)

Ended up claiming $5k (1.8k accom, 3.2k new flight) as a result of catching Covid. Claims process was a ball-ache; tedious and slow moving. They tried to deny my travel companion her rescheduled flight but a strongly worded complaint to their complaints email saw them change their tune and pay out.

      • Thanks for the reply. I'll check out annual memberships as an option and keep in mind for any claims in general that complaints emails may help. Will add NIB to the list of contenders despite the claim issue you had, since to be honest I assume this ball-ache will apply to any claim with any company if I happen to get COVID. We're 10k deep on flights, various accom, ski passes etc so I need some decent cover if COVID screws us out of the trip. Gonna need to get insurance in next two weeks for 30 days prior to travel

  • Any reason why this code doesn't work when I've tried using either the 20 or 25% off

    • I just tried this, it worked for me WW25ENTB.
