  • I have actually managed to apply the code on a $100 Amazon egc.
It says "You successfully redeemed your promotional code.", and
    "Promotions applied: GC promotion"

But I am not brave enough to proceed payment, as it says the offer starts on 24/Oct
    is that a typo?

    • +3

I took the leap of faith. Will report back if I get the credit or not.

    • +3

its working got the confirmation email from amazon as well

Thanks for purchasing $100 or more of Amazon.com.au Gift Cards. In accordance with the promotional terms, we have now automatically applied a $5 promotional credit to your account which will automatically be applied to your next purchase of eligible item(s) shipped and sold by Amazon AU.

The promotional credit must be used by 31 March 2023. This offer is subject to Terms and Conditions.

    • +1

      Must be a typo.

The extended T&C's at the bottom of the page actually says it runs between 12:01AM (AEDT) on 19 October 2022 and 11:59PM (AEDT) on 22 October 2022.

  • +4

    IT"S WORKING NOW

Although it says the offer starts on 24/Oct on the top description,
I can confirm the offer period is between 12:01AM (AEDT) on 19 October 2022 and 11:59PM (AEDT) on 22 October 2022.
It's stated in the detail T&C below.

Also I've purchased 2x$50 in a single transaction, and received the $5 promo credit within 5 minutes

  • +1

Not as good as typical 5% cashback

    • -1

      Cashback is 'cash' back,
      whereas this is Amazon 'credit',
which is good if you're usually inside the Amazon ecosystem
and going to "purchase eligible item(s) shipped and sold by Amazon AU"

    • +3

If my math is correct, it’s a 4.76% discount.

      • .. Upside is Amazon GC /credit don't expire I spose

  • +1

    Doesn’t work?

    • worked for me.

  • +3

    I'm getting the error
The promotional code you entered cannot be applied to your purchase.

    • +11

you may have already activated it. check the right side with the $ figures to see if you got a 'GC promotion' line

      • +2

On the mobile web page don't see anything like that.
        Will try in the app

        • +1

oh. I'm on desktop. not sure if you see it in app or mobile.

          • +3

@mit: Put the phone chrome into desktop mode and it was there under the checkout area.

            Couldn't see it otherwise

            Thanks

            • +1

              @Encify: np. good to know.

    • Exactly

    • yep same

  • +3

In accordance with the promotional terms, we have now automatically applied a $5 promotional credit to your account which will automatically be applied to your next purchase of eligible item(s) shipped and sold by Amazon AU.

Keep in mind, only items shipped and sold by Amazon.

  • So, just 5%?.. Nothing special IMHO

    • +7

Less than 5%. It is $5/$105.

        • What if you buy $200 .. sounds like it's just 2.5% then?

          • @bono: What if you buy $400? it will be 1.25%. See where you are going with that?

        • +4

          Fail……

          • -5

@FOX: Yep, you sound like you failed math at school just like the people who negged my post LOL

Getting $5 discount or promo credit after spending $100 is 5% discount.

If you buy something at woolies for $5 and it normally costs $10, did you get 50% off (5/10) or 33.33% off (5/15)? Unbelievable, grown adults can't do simple maths.

            • +3

              @keejoonc:

You get $5 for spending $100.

You actually get $105 credit/balance for spending $100 and to realise the $5 saving you then have to spend that $105 credit/balance on future purchases at Amazon. That's $5 off $105.

              5/105 = 0.0476190476190476 = ~4.76%

If you buy something at woolies for $5 and it normally costs $10, did you get 50% off (5/10) or 33.33% off (5/15)? Unbelievable, grown adults can't do simple maths.

What you are describing in your example is an instant discount rather than a bonus/extra value on top.

              • If you buy something at woolies for $10 that normally costs $10 and it comes with a bonus $5 gift card, did you spend $10 to get $15 value or did you spend $5 to get $10 value?

              • Imagine if the Amazon offer was for $100 promo credit with purchase of $100 gift card. By your logic that would be 100% off, when in actuality you have spent $100 to get $200 buying power. 100/200 = 50% off

        • edit

  • +2

    Purchased 2x $50.
10 mins gone… didnt seem to work for me

Edit: about 15 mins delay. Finally got the email about the credit. Thanks OP

  • +1

Confirmed working on two accounts. Keep in mind that when using promotional credit for an order that you will not earn cash back. I suggest use this credit for orders you know are 0% cash back or those of low value.

    • +3

I think most of the things we buy or worth buying have 0% cashback anyway.

      • Could be plenty of people that get caught out during Black Friday though, when CR/SB have upsized cashback on all categories.

  • +2

"The promotional code you entered cannot be applied to your purchase."

    why ? :(

    • Read answer from mit above. It worked. Thanks!

  • Limit of one promo per customer? Or could I do this 4x times?

    • Offer limited to one promotional credit per customer and Amazon.com.au account

  • -1

But can you pay for it using your your current Amazon wallet GC balance? 🤔

  • +1

Thanks OP, this will help pay off God of War Ragnarok a bit ;')

      • Plus delivery for being under $100 if C&C is not viable for you and realistically less unlikely to arrive on release date.

Amazon will likely reduce price closer to release date and price match HN or someone a few days before anyway. The preorder price will automatically reduce.

        • Not disagreeing as those are facts. Though free delivery for over $100 and prices during the promo for preorders are the cheapest around & free c&c if people in sydney would like to get on the day, which may make it more realistically available on the release date.

        • Ah the comment got edited. Future uncertainty on pricing is not a deal though.

And personally i'm all about supporting local business rather than big corps if I can

  • +3

Just to confirm the process. Enter the code during purchase. It says in red it can't be applied, but on the right below the total amount it says 'Promotions applied: GC promotion'. You'll pay $100.

About 10 minutes after purchase I got confirmation of the $5.

I would guess if you don't see the 'Promotions applied: GC promotion' you won't get it (maybe all used up).

    • This is on a computer (not phone).

    • Yes it worked. Thanks for the good advice!

  • I think it may have reached its limit now.
I am getting "The promotional code you entered cannot be applied to your purchase."
When checking out via the App.

    • Same here

      • I bought at 6:33am and got confirmation email of promo at 6:39am

I got that error when i tried to input code after the first time (ie multiple input) within the same cart. The first time jjst had the same checkout page reload

        Using app.

    • +1

      Read my comment above

      • Unfortunately I don't see that anywhere. I am on mobile.

Edit: switching to desktop mode showed the message, now hoping it works.

    • +1

i copy pasted code didn't show "Promotions applied: GC promotion" but no error
i copy pasted code again showed error "The promotional code you entered cannot be applied to your purchase."
went ahead with purchase anyways and hope for the best as the submitted code didn't error first time

the FAQ on the page OP linked states
"For eligible customers, the promotion code GIFTAGC should be entered only once at the checkout. If you enter the code more than once, the following message is displayed at the checkout. You can make the purchase and promotion will still be applied."

it doesn't state anything regarding "Promotions applied: GC promotion"

i am on desktop, it didn't show on the right side, didn't get an email but "Promotion(s) Applied: -$5.00" now shows up when i make an order 🙂

EDIT: and im a clutz fixed the above

    • I had to use the website to see 'Promotions applied' msg.

      • Thanks all, I went incognito and desktop mode and it works.
The message is very tiny on the right hand side.

        • Yeah as usual people having issues with it on the app, happens every time with these promos.

  • -3

For those who don't want to spend as much, don't forget that TA posted the exact same deal back here but with a $50 spend to still get $5 promo credit.

    • +3

The conditions of that deal are only for people who have not bought a gift card before (albeit a small few people managed to get it to work despite that condition).

It is not the exact same deal.

  • Confirmed still working at 7:20, got my benefit confirmation

  • I'm not getting anything saying the promotion has been applied at checkout, might be sold out?

  • still working as of 8.35am, got the promo email within 2mins

  • +1

Cqnt get it to work saying can't be applied

    • Same, it appears to be sold out :(

    • +3

Because the code is already applied, look at checkout to confirm you see the following:

      Order Summary
      Items: $100.00
      Delivery: $0.00
      Order Total: $100.00
      Qualifying offers:
      GC promotion

  • +1

Still working at 9:38am. Use desktop to make purchase so you can see if the code actually applied. It says qualify for GC promotion under the total on the right side of the screen.

  • +4

I'm always skeptical of these "first 2,500" deals when it doesn't positively confirm before purchase that you get the deal.

    • But it does? Below is what you see before you confirm purchase if you're eligible and have applied the promotion code, as per @hamza23:

      Order Summary
      Items: $100.00
      Delivery: $0.00
      Order Total: $100.00
      Qualifying offers:
      GC promotion

  • +1

    Thanks!
You can see offer is work or not on the desktop mode.

  • I had the:

    Qualifying offers:
    GC promotion

appear in my checkout page for my order at 8:21AM - but still havn't received the promotion email (nor the $5 credit)

  • +1

Thanks worked at 11:30am, received promotion credit email after 5mins.

  • has anyone done this with multiple accounts?

  • -1

    Looks like it's over now.

  • +1

Thanks OP, still worked as of 12:05PM

  • +1

bought it with coles prepaid mc hot off the checkout

  • +1

Still worked over desktop checkout as of 12:30pm

  • +1

Tried last night and again today, i always get "The promotional code you entered cannot be applied to your purchase". Tried on desktop and tablet.

    • Same here, what gives?

      • +2

There is no issue, see here.

        • +1

Ok thanks hamza, i took the plunge and it worked.

  • Still working for me as of 1.50pm (Melbourne time).

  • +3

    "GIFTAGC"
"The promotional code you entered cannot be applied to your purchase."

    02:41pm Melbourne

    • -1

Yeah it's a dumb promo. I entered it successfully the first time but it didn't give confirmation. So I tried again and now it gives an error. Fun times.

  • +2

Ordered the gift card around 3.05PM and received the promotional credit email in 5 minutes. When you apply the code, there are no messages appear but the "GC promotion" is text added below the Total amount.

  • +1

Thanks OP. The code still works as at 6.20PM Eastern time. A bit surprise due to 4,000 clicks on the link and title states only first 2500 eligible

  • Still working as bought $100 Amazon GC. Thanks OP!

  • I got the "GC Promotion" text below the text, but didn't get the promo applied email….is it over

edit: received the promo 5 mins later

  • Anyone know how to use the $5 promotional credit? I cant see it in my account. the T&C does say it will be automatically applied for purchases of eligible items shipped and sold by Amazon AU. But how to know it is eligible items, and it is applied?

    • If the Amazon listing is like below, then you’re allowed to use the promo credit which is automatically applied at checkout:

      Ships from: Amazon AU
      Sold by: Amazon AU

  • Let's see if I get free money

  • Expired? Can't get it to work
