    rrp 79

probably price error ? how come mr normal can beat beezoz

  • +1

Wow that's crazy cheap for a preorder Switch game. Pokemon especially.

  • Great price! Cheers op

  • +15

Thanks op. I'll wear a disguise when I collect so no ozbargainers see me enter the store.

    • +2

Disregard. Cancelled and ordered through Amazon…
      Wow that was close.

  • +1

Thanks OP! Purchased but going to keep my Amazon pre-order just for now in case HN turns around and refunds due to price error.

    • +2

I'm kinda hoping Amazon simply price match HN. Saves dealing with C&C.

      • +1

I decided to not chance that as it's a hefty drop and HN is around the corner for me so C&C is no bother. :)

        • +1

Fair enough. The only nearby HN to me don't actually do video games, so it would be a decent trip.

In saying that, I wonder did just check and it looks like I can do it C&C which I never even considered. Might give Amazon an hour or so and if nothing, try C&C through HN.

  • +2

Thanks OP ordered it quick before it gets retracted.

  • Thanks OP!
Ordered, doesn't seem to be a price error as it states "pre order Save $20".
I was going to wait until release and impressions but for this price might as well jump in.

    • +1

well we never know …. look at Muzeeb he said yup this is legit order here you go ($2k monitor priced at $250)

  • +1

does jbhifi do price match for preorder?

    • +5

Yep just got them to price match via chat.

      • They have chat?

        • +6

          Yes link.
Going to cancel my EB preorders and get it from JB.

          • @akte: Thank you, got JB to price match

            • @Jayzz55: tried it on live chat and in store they don't do price match. (NSW - Sydney Here)

              • +1

@Fappy Bunny: They probably catch on now. Was able to this morning for NSW.

                • +1

@akte: oh well, I cancelled my order and went with HN.

might go with both JBHIFI later & keep HN then see who has it on the release date.

        • +4

Their chat currently has some copy paste text explaining that the product they're selling is the steelbook version and is not like-for-like therefore they won't be price matching. Extremely scummy considering there's no chance they're only selling a steelbook version and not the standard version too.

      • Thanks. Got jb to price match.

      • Can confirm, was also able to get it price matched. No questions asked, just sent me an order link with the discount.

      • And done! Thanks Trueno and OP.

      • JB Live chat, Queue position: 75 wonder how many of us are in this queue :)

      • +1

I wasn't as lucky, denied on the basis that their pre-order includes Steelbook and DLC.

        • +3

          Can confirm:
Thanks for reaching out to us today,
Unfortunately JBHIFI will not be price matching Harvey Norman's Pokemon Scarlet or Violet preorder pricing due to the products not being like for like.
Our unit comes with a bonus steelbook + an exclusive refreshment DLC which is not available with the Harvey Norman copy.

          • +1

@OZB Al: my reason was they don't do preorder price matching.

          • @OZB Al: They only match the $69 one on JB which is the same as Harvey Norman.

            • @Johnnyy: i got that one but they won't price match until the game comes out (instore & online)

      • +2

They are not price matching. Wasted time.

    • +2

chat wouldn't budge on price match, noting that DLC and steelbook weren't in the HN

    • +4

No longer price matching, apparently it is not the same one

  • +2

Had a $50 gift card so this works out perfect for me

  • Hope Amazon match the price

  • Awesome cheers

  • Wish they'd tell us what the exclusive Pokemon are. How else do I pick which version

    • +6

Pokemon Scarlet, the exclusive ones are Larvitar, Pupitar, Tyranitar, Stonjourner, and Armarouge.
Players that pick up Pokemon Violet will find Bagon, Shelgon, Salamence, and Ceruledge.

      • There are going to be more than that though.

    • +1

Well do u like vilet or scarlet more

      My pick would be Scarlet
But the violet cover art looks better….

      • I like the Scarlet trainer and legendary better, but the violet other exclusives better.

        • OK I feel the pain

          • @capslock janitor: I think I'm going to go violet. Salamence and Ceruledge, plus miradon should be more important than the professor etc.

    • +1

When you go out to a restaurant to eat, do you choose either food OR drink? Or do you get both :)

this is a great price for a new game, too bad i don't play pokemon

    • Ok cool

    • +11

      i don't play pokemon

This person doesn’t wanna be the very best. Like no one ever was.

      • he'll never understand the power that's inside

  • 500 Error on Amazon listing for Pokemon Violet right now haha
EDIT: Never mind, now loading fine.

  • Does Amazon have a price match policy? The agent on live chat wouldn't budge on the price match request.

    • They don't. It's above the live chat support pay grade.

    • +1

      "When we feel like it"

    • They don't match for individual customers. They do check competitors prices, so may drop it at some point if HN is someone they check.

    • No, Amazon chat doesn't price match.

    • But they do have "Pre-order Price Guarantee"

Amazon.com.au's price for not-yet-released items sometimes changes between the time the item is listed for sale and the time it is released and shipped. Whenever you pre-order an item eligible for Pre-order Price Guarantee, the price we charge when we ship it to you will be the lowest price offered by Amazon.com.au between the time you placed your order and the end of the day of the release date.

Which may make them less likely to price match as it will apply to everyone who has ordered it already.

  • +5

Thanks OP. Just ordered one. This price is insane and even is the ideal price for next Christmas. $48 dollars preorder? Finally someone has realized that our general economy is sliding down.

Just got an email saying my order is on back order. Hopefully they won’t cancel my order

    • i just brought mine from HN and it didn't say it's a backorder

      • Ordered Scarlet, got a confirmation via SMS and email. Didn’t say anything about a back order.

  • any poke master here?
what is going on with pokemon games, they all have very similar names like sun moon light white ruby scarlet silver etc etc.

when they release 2 at the same time like this viol/scar, are they actually very similar in term of game play and characters ? or what? if similar then whats the point?

    • Exclusive pokemon, may have different characters or different Pokemon used by other characters but nothing major.

    • +1

It is a historical gimmick that they need to do away with. Any differences are minor (ie. same story, maybe a different character here or there) and with online trading, it's easier to get the version specific Pokemon.

    • +3

In the original Game Boy game, there was a memory limitation and the developers could not put all of the pokemon they wanted to on the Game Boy's cartridge. They then split it into 2 halves but didn't actually complete all of the content that was supposed to fit the 2nd cartridge. The games ended up being 90% the same bar for some pokemon that were exclusive for 1 or the other or different characters/interactions and in the more recent games there may be different side quests etc.

Initially it was done because of tech limitations, but Nintendo realised quickly that by splitting the same game into 2 they sold a lot more of the same game without having to really do much more actual content to warrant the 2nd cartridge.

Now it's just a grift, that has been working for decades years. Much like how people paid full price for Sims 4 on release when it was only 20% complete then continued to pay full price for every additional 20% of content that should have been in there.

Publishers will keep doing it if people keep giving them money.

      • geebus…. so just few different characters… unbelievable i lost respect of nintendo they just care about $

      • Pretty much this. I end up buying both editions so that I can play it with the kids, as the games are restricted to one instance per console.

  • +6

"I meant $148 for the dual pack, not 'one for $48' you idiot! I'm ruined, RUINED!!!"

    • That is $128 for the Dual Pack Steel Book Edition.
SIngle game is now price discounted to $48/=.

      • +2

        You missed the joke. Lol.

  • +4

I want to be the very best

    • Like no one ever was

  • There's been some really cheap switch games at Harvey Norman this year. Hoping Amazon can match this like the previous deals

    • Yeah. $50 for Kirby only 1-2 weeks after it was out was pretty good.

      • It was $54.00 (Kirby & the Forgotten Land and Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze), but I decided to hold-on and wait till Black Friday Sales.
I will only buy any popular titles of Switch game under $49.99.

  • Thanks OP. Just pre-ordered one.

  • +1

Ordered Violet, and got confirmation email straight away advising "we'll let you know when it is ready for pickup"

  • +5

Was close to pulling the trigger but remembered that this franchise has been such a let down

    • +6

Arceus was a breath of fresh air. This will be more open world than that i heard.

      • +1

Yet it still looks incredibly dated. Like come on, even BOTW looks better than the last 3 major Pokemon games (not including Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl).

I love the open world aspect of Arceus, but I just can't get over the hurdle of how bad these games look visually.

They should give it to the guys who did that Digimon game on the switch.

        • Agreed - I was about to preorder but the showcase video panned over this orange lump of a scenery 🤢 Didn't expect it to look that bad

  • I can't pre-order two games so I chose Pokemon Violet.
In Amazon, Pokemon Violet always selling better than Pokemon Scarlet.
    Hope I didnt't regret.

  • +1

Can't wait to get my refund the day before release because it was a price error…

    • You can resell it for profit after release date in mid-November.
      hehe,,,,

  • Just got a "order rejected" email from HN North Ryde…

    • Did you get a reason?

      • +1

        a reason

Gerry Identified them as a professional

      • +2

Nope no reason. Just sent me this email

"Hi "RedChill"! Thanks for placing your order with us. However after careful review, we have decided to not accept your order. We apologise for any inconvenience."

        • Wow. So they reviewed your order and decided, "Nah.."

        • Could be payment issue or something. Try ordering again.

          • +1

@akte: I bought using giftcard so i need to wait till they sort out the refund before i can buy again

    • -2

see the first comment i said could be price error

  • Thanks OP for sharing this

  • Ordered Violet. Let's see if they hold up their price

  • Thanks
