Go easy, noob in posting.

I have been looking at a smart watch for a teenager under the $300 mark. Ended up settling on this watch, mostly due to the battery and able to take calls (whereas Garmin can't in this price range). Seen Bing Lee had it for a good price and I have Ebay Plus so even better. I did use a code available for me that brought it down to $213 delivered but wasn't sure that was targeted or not!

This is the best price I could find right now.

Some of the Samsung watches do come down to $200 or below occasionally, especially if you're prepared to buy last years model

    • +3

Yep this, if you don't need a smart watch or in depth and accurate fitness metrics, the Huawei is pretty decent value.

      • -1

What's the point of it without smarts and accurate fitness tracking?

        • A lot of people just want to be able to tell the time and make/receive calls

          • @PhilToinby: Huawei is much more than that. The phone is best for calls.
The watch complements it for sleeping & activity tracking.
Huawei Watch GT 3: New Heart Rate King!

What's the point of having watch what works with few phones & have to charge every day?

          • @taki: I've got the GT 2 Pro and the battery lasts for a week easily. Call quality on it sucks though. Great for fitness and sleep tracking but need a couple extra apps to sync to google fit.

            • @Caped Baldy: What fitness tracking do you use it for? When I use it for running, it's metrics are often quite far off my previous results with Samsung Active 2 and Apple Watch 7. It gets even worse when tracking activities like tennis/squash.

      • +1

Huawei tracking is pretty good. Much better than samsung anyway. Look at the accuracy rating for Huawei

        • It's only a little better when it comes to heart rate tracking. In my experience during runs, cadence, contact time, and heart rate have not been very accurate at all for me with GT2. I found basic heart rate and simple GPS to be fine, but I often get dips or missed data from GT2 while running. Overall to me it seemed to be more of a lighter fitness tracker if you are only concerned with heart rate.

    No NFC again 😐

This or ticwatch 3 pro GPS?

    • +1

I believe Ticwatch has NFC and supports Google Pay, so that! ;)

But then, I use my watch to pay all the time. Maybe not a priority for everyone.

      • How do you manage paying with your watch? I thought I'd be doing it all the time when I first got my ticwatch, but having to have my other hand free to click the button to bring up Google pay, and then hold my watch hand at an awkward twisted angle to scan, made it more trouble than it was worth. I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong!

    • +1

I have a GT2 and sold my Ticwatch pro3. The battery life is 7+ days, rather than 1.5 days for the tw3

  • Waiting for good price on 46mm for 14d battery life (don't want to be slave of charging every night, currently, MiBand/Amazfit are the best).
It also works with any OS (with HarmonyOS which is more capable, on more devices, than iOS). I don't like being restricted to small subset of phones.
The best addon to capable phones as Galaxy Note ( 10+ :)

    • Garmin would be better for you then.

      • Maybe. Value for money? Chinese/Asian co would always have better value smart things.
HarmonyOS is specifically designed for IoThings & is battery efficient.
MiBand/Amazfit are the best value for sleep tracking (most important for me).
Smart watchers are still changing fast & would wait for more mature stage of IoT integration with phone/earbuds & other sensors.

        • Better value means reduced ability. So it may only be good value for your needs. Garmin will often last longer, in build quality and battery life. Better warranty too. Plus much more features and Garmin store is actually really great.

    • I am not sure what you consider good price but All Phones Ebay store has the 46mm for $247 for me as a plus member. Definitely not as good as the Amazon deal.

Tempted, but it seems GT4 is launching soon, maybe worth to wait

  • Can I use the GPS to track my kids on school excursions ?

  • Is there any issue with huawei products because before they were sanctioned, not sure if it's still the case?

Also I read somewhere than the ECG feature is not yet enabled in AU as waiting on TGA approval. Anyone know if it's coming or working?

  • I'm on an old Samsung S3 Frontier, it's still going strong other than the battery barely lasting a day. Would this be a decent upgrade?

I mainly use it to receive, check and reply to messages while at work

    • +1

Gt3 can reply to message but only the pre-recorded messages.

I am happy with gt3, I bought it as I needed the battery life.

  • Delivery option shows click and collect only and none of the C&C options are for melbourne
