Power points in the US, are they more like A or B? I need to buy a travel plug and wondering which one to get

    • +1

Type A will plug into type B, but not the other way round…

Type B has the grounding plug, which is usually only needed for appliances… in other words, if the gadgets you're travelling with don't have a third pin (ie. most/all chargers), you won't need the grounding plug

Pretty sure it's type A in US.

Best to get one that has them all in 1 adaptor. Buy once and use it anywhere you go. Providing the device your using is compatible with US.

US is Not 220-240v like most countries

  • I accidentally find this with $2 coupon applied and come down to $23.99. Not sure if it is targeted or not.

These comply with Aus standards ?

      Every time…

It is important information - the insulation was added to the live pins for a reason. Some people may not want non-compliant devices in their house - for example, they may have children.

        • Look, I agree that they've been added for a reason - safer is always better. However… Is everyone that's complaining about this throwing away / replacing their old electrical goods that have non-insulated pins and replacing them with either brand new plugs or brand new items?

          • +3

@Droz: That really depends on your situation. People with children are advised to consider replacing non-compliant plugs.

All of that is besides the point, users should be aware of what they are buying.

Unlikely. I had a 6 port one and it trips out every time I try put power through it. Lasted like two years before failing.

      From the Amazon product page:

Question: Is this compliant with australian standards for electrical safety?
      Answer: No

      • It's not compliant with any standards for electrical safety

Have this exact one and the USB ports started failing after 1 year, now after 2 years none of the 3usb ports work..

      Dear customer,
Have you purchase this product from us? As we just lauched this product last year.

      • Hi there, can you bring the deal back?

    • +5

Just offering my 2 cents. I have 3x of these power strips. (The older one where they're all USB-A)

The oldest is from 2015, and still works perfectly fine.

The 2nd one is from 2016, and is also used daily. All of my son's gadgets get plugged into it. High power drain items with their own brick, and low power drain with the usb ports.

The 3rd is still in it's box because it's use case got changed and didn't push through - so now it's the designated travel power strip

Wish it was a smart one with on/off timers. I, have the tp link kasa one from sales before but it's unreliable, frequently doesn't turn off when it should. Any recommendations, suggestions?

    Thanks in advance

Still work fine no issue. Good product.

I bought one of these without usb-c from Banggood about 6 yrs ago for about $12 posted, it still works fine.
