Why does a SIM card expire?

    • +4

My only guess is so they can recycle the allocated mobile number.

  • +2

According to Telstra, it seems that they might be trialing 5G access for pre-paid plans :)

    • -3

you'd need to call telstra to get it activated.

    • +2

I've had access to 5G on my telstra pre-paid since June - i'm on the same 6 month pre-paid as per this listing.

  • Is that 90 a month or for 6 months

    • Pretty sure 90gb for the whole 6 months. Never monthly for this kind of long expiry SIM card.

      • Yes, 90GB for 6 months

  • Guessing this would be a pain if I was moving from Boost.

    • why pain

      • If I recall correctly, because Boost basically is Telstra you need to get them to send you a special sim. Unless things have changed in the last couple of years.

Edit: Might as well just recharge Boost $200 for 12 months 130gb data. Was on $150 for 12 months with 80gb so wasn't sure if I wanted to.

        • Agree, but no esim yet 😔

    • Why go to Telstra when you’re already on the Telstra network but for half the price?

      • suspect esim or potential 5g candidate .. otherwise boost all the way

        • Boost has 5G on “trial” at the moment. Telstra prepaid isn’t a deal over Boost unless you’re hoarding a heap of Telstra points that can pay for recharges or despo for eSIM.

      • I was on $150/yr on Boost, but can't recharge with it anymore. Now $200/ year, so slightly cheaper than this still. I'll just stick with Boost though.

    • Moving from telstra to boost was super easy, and so quick, within 1 hr ported.

From boost to telstra, I suppose should be easy too.

    • Ive heard this definitely for people moving from telstra to boost. If u could be bothered, port to optus or Vodafone with a $2 sim, then port to telstra

  • genuine question, for those who buy these types of prepaid deals/plans, are you just after being able to call/text for those 6/12 months and not the data? I would blast through 90gb in a month.

    • +1

Pretty much. Most of my internet use is at home. Boost 80gb for 12 months was enough for me at least last 2 years, might not have been before I was working from home most days.

    • +1

Heavily rely on wifi + don't use streaming video/audio outside of wi-fi.

I pretty much use the data for non-media heavy google searches, google maps, messaging friends I'm meeting, etc. I don't watch youtube/netflix/etc or stream music on my phone outside of wifi.

    • Yes, just need the calls. I've used 90gig over 9 months on my boost 12 month 280gig sim, so roughly 10 gig a month. Only listen to music during weekdays and a little ozbargain browsing. After work at home I'm on wifi or using NVIDIA shield again on wifi.

  • After 2 years my data consumption has increased in past 2 months. Back to work is eating lot of data

  • Can't seem to check out?

    • Meh… seems to be a Paypal thing. CC worked fine.

  • Any chance to connect your Apple Watch with that plan? I need some prepaid and data for my watch…

    • Telstra One Number is only available to postpaid plans at this stage.

  • Just bought this from Telstra last week for $135 and thought that was a bargain.

  • Attempted but got one question.
I just opted out from Telstra to Boost last week, am I considered as new customer if I jump back to Telstra next month? Like opt out and back in a month?

    • You are a new customer to Telstra

  • If I'm already on Telstra prepaid, am I able to swap to this deal?

    • +5

Not directly. Happy to include a free Voda30 SIM for you to port out and back in if you PM me your order number.

  • Thanks OP - just purchased

    Can i add apple watch?

  • eSIM avaiable ?

    • Yes with a supported device

      • Last month, I went to a Telstra store and asked for eSIM, but they said eSIM is not available for 12-month prepaid long expiry.

  • Hi Auditech, how much stock do you have left to clear?

    • I enabled the stock availability on the product page to public, it shows less than 10 available now.

  • Hi Auditech,

    I can't seem to pay.

    • Send a message via online chat or give us a call

  • I am currently on Telstra prepaid, expiring in 3 weeks - can I go with this?
