    A bit suss…. Also, 150 for a portable coffee maker is not a deal

    • Yeah, when compared to their old Minipresso which I bought from Aldi for $15.29 earlier this year.

        To be fair the Picopresso is considered the best portable espresso maker (particularly in this price range)

        And most other retailers have it for $180 plus..

        • Apparently the Nanopresso is better than Minipresso, while this Picopresso is again better than Nanopresso.
          But is the Picopresso 10 times better than my Minipresso? Doubt it.

          • @edfoo: Picopresso can do actual espresso and has a proper 18g basket with it. The others just aren't able to make espresso and are more pod focused so aren't able to produce an espresso shot with good extraction and a nice mouthfeel.

            @edfoo:

            Yes. If you have a capable grinder, and care about the quality of espresso, then absolutely it is.

            (Not hating on the Minipresso/Nanopresso - I strongly believe that they have their place, especially at that price! But they are really very different products, aimed at very different audiences, in my opinion.)

          • @edfoo: I’ve got both, as well as a pretty good home grinder and espresso machine. I’d say the pico produces a coffee that’s very close to what a proper home espresso setup can. Is that 10x better than the mini?.. not sure but as with everything you get diminishing marginal improvements per extra dollar spent. Does my niche produce a 10x better coffee than the breville smart grinder I used to own? Not sure but it is a heck of a lot better.

            • @simulacrum: Exactly. Diminishing marginal improvements per extra dollar spent, just like you've said.

          • @edfoo: What will be next? the Femtopresso?

          • @edfoo: Minipresso is around $50, I think your ten times calculation needs work… perhaps its 3 times better?… If your response is "but it was $15 blah blah, where can one buy a Mini today for 15 dollars…

    i'd say it's a sign of addiction to caffeine/coffee if you feel the need to get this (at this kind of price) just so you can have 'quality coffee' while camping/trekking/being in the great outdoors. Like…there's more important/wonderful things to enjoy while you are out and about….other than sitting there hand pumping away.

      LOL, wait till you see those campers who bring along electric-powered coffee machines then you'll really know the meaning of glamping (instead of camping).

      Just kidding.

      I guess you aren't into your coffee that much. It's like any other hobby/interest. The possibility to go further is infinite. For people that buy this, that more important thing to enjoy happens to be coffee.

    For those who search for this later like me, I managed to get this for $124 using their Black Friday code "BF15". Seems like the historical best price. Free shipping too.

    Review by James Hoffman is positive as well.
