  • FYI coupon is valid via the Flexiroam app too👍

  • Wouldn't it be better to sign up to Vodafone for a month and do the $5 a day deal? get way more data if you are in one of the countries they have deals with.

A 10 day holiday would cost you $50. I would probably choose Optus $20 for 10GB 14 day roaming pack.

If you're changing providers/buying a sim just for a trip then you'd be better off getting a sim at the local destination. Almost always cheaper.

when in japan the data limits are awful and free wifi isn't as good as everyone says it is.

if you want to be able to use a significant amount of data VF is the way to go but if you only require a small amount than you are absolutely correct.

Normal price of $319.99 for 11gb seems a tad steep. The reduced price of $96 doesn’t appeal either.

Nothing is scarier than running out of data while traveling abroad.

Maybe not, but muggings, serious illness, terrorism, missed flights, stolen credit-cards, double-booked hotels, and being arrested for drug possession, rank a close second.

Getting 'Coupon "escary70" does not exist!'

    • I installed the app and it had a pop up with scary70 - but that did not work either

    • Didn't work for me either

So it looks like the prices on the site have already taken the 70% discount into consideration, if that's the case then it's not really a deal if you compare it to the previous flexiroam sales

11GB $77 here (AUD - see bottom of site)

    • That one doesn't work (I've tried yesterday).
It appears limited to buyers from Canada, during the checkout process it will complain about the address. If you put a Canadian address you can go through but will need to add shipping cost (no idea why as there shouldn't be anything to ship) so seems some issue there

      • That's odd because they were posting as recently as March and their account was used last month

        • Yeah those were targeted to Aus, unlike the one you linked

The Vodafone/Optus/Felix/etc options are good if you happen to travel to the few countries covered by them.
For those who aren't as lucky, like me, you have to go with options such as this one or a local SIM if you can.
Personally, I can't do local SIM because I'm using the SIM with my Boost and want to have it active via eSIM (VoLTE / SMS over WiFi) and don't want to be bothered with switching my Boost to a provider that supports eSIM
So I've went with this, hopefully someone else in the same situation finds it useful :)

    • i'm on the same boat as I will be overseas for over 6 weeks and Boost doesn't do roaming.
Do you redirect calls and msgs to flexiroam e-sim?

      • +2

No need to, Boost supports WiFi calls and SMS and also Voice over LTE (VoLTE)
So you just need to have internet while overseas (by any means, WiFi/data via 2nd SIM/eSIM) and enable in your phone (if not already) the options of WiFi calls/SMS
You will receive/make calls via internet and also send/receive SMS, happy days!😊👍

        • +1

Flexiroam also has regional and country specifics data plans that are cheaper than the global ones, so depending on your needs you can get an even cheaper plan
Lastly, it's worth checking which eSIM provider is the cheapest for your destination/s (check the finder link shared by @Techie4066 above)

        • Wait, wait, so if I enable an eSIM overseas so I've got the data then I'll still get all my texts etc through my Boost phone number if I have the Boost SIM card in the phone???

@nuts: I believe that's what he meant, which is pretty awesome

            • +1

@ericc: @nuts That's exactly right, you will receive calls and SMS to your Aus number and you will also be able to send SMS and call Australian numbers, just like if you were in Australia 😊

              • +1

@Bredo: That is amazing, really appreciate this info.

              • @Bredo: While I was in NZ a few months ago, I thought Boost would work just like this; however, it didn't.

While connected to WiFi only, Boost could receive/make calls and send SMS.
When using the mobile data SIM (a 3HK eSim) Boost Wifi-Calling/ Wifi-SMS did not work.

My suspicion is that the data SIM (3HK eSim) is actually reporting itself as in roaming status, thus the phone (Samsung S21+) preventing Boost from using the cellular network of my 3HK eSIM.

Do you recall whether your "Flexiroam" was able to access data as if you were having a "local SIM", and thus Boost Wifi-calling worked? i.e. access to cellular data without having to tick "allow data roaming" in the APN setting.

                • +1

@gkgkgk: I'm currently overseas (Boost Sim, Flexiroam eSIM and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3), and yes, I can confirm that this doesn't work as expected.

I'm having the same problem. The cause of the problem is the fact that Flexiroam force you to enable roaming (I didn't know this) and android doesn't support VoLTE while roaming is enabled.

So if you want to do VoLTE, try find another eSIM that doesn't require you to enable data roaming and it will work as expected.
