  • Good deal no?

    • +1

It's an all time low for that RAM but even then 16GB of decent speed/timing DDR4 for $80 is pretty good. It's not B-die, but you'll be hard pressed to even get that for $100 secondhand.

      • There isn't even any B-die in production now..

why those Gskill kits still sell for 300 plus

jesus..Such good ram..i scored a set that was able to do 3466 with 13-13-13 on it

could do 12-12-12-12 at 3200 if wanted to..but the voltage got a little toasty

  • if my laptop spec is Intel i5 9300H , 8GB DDR4-2666MHz (1X8gb) , NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB graphics, 512GB NVMe PCIe Gen3 SSD,
will i get some better performance overall when adding another 8GB RAM stick ?

    • yes, that would make it run dual channel and have some more breathing room

    • +3

I'm not a RAM expert, but 16GB really is the sweet spot these days. I'm sure someone will correct me, but I believe it's best to install RAM in pairs to take advantage of Dual Channel, and it's best (but not absolutely necessary) to make them a matched pair (capacity/speed/controller brand)

      • Been sweet spot for like 5 years. You have to take frequency and timings into account too - 3600 CL16 would be the sweet in that regard.

      And this isn't laptop RAM

    • +1

If your laptop has another RAM slot (or the current one is removable) - definitely upgrade it to at least 16gb. Will make a huuuuge difference.

this ram is not for laptop!

      • ah.. i see what you mean.. yeah thanks.

    • +1

Attention! This is not laptop ram

      • got it. thanks. will look for laptop ram

        • There are decentish prices on Amazon ATM, but honestly wait for Cyber Monday or a deal here.

        • You will also need to make sure your laptop can support the ram you do find. It's possible your laptop has a max compatibility of 2933mhz. As you've said you already have 1 dimm of a particular type of ram with high memory density, try to find an exact replication of that single dimm. i.e. 8GB DDR4-2666MHz (1X8gb) (same brand, same model)

    • YES! Yes and yes :) check out software called cpu-z and hwinfo to verify what ram u have currently and also check the manufacturers website for your laptop.

  • Will this work with the Budget PC computer deal?

    • +2

Yes. DDR4 RAM is compatible with both Intel and AMD CPUs, and all new budget PC builds available. The only other RAM you would be buying new today is DDR5, but no of that is found in a budget build. Check all your compatibility with pcpartpicker, an excellent site that highlights any issues before you buy.

  • Purchased at $81.50

    How low could we go

Just FYI there's 3600 kit for a pretty decent price too. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/724540

    The 4400C19 is b die if that's something you're after ($155).

Same with the Viper Blackout 4400C18 ($159).

Any recommendations for fast 64gb (2x32gb) kit?

    • Same as Vladdo, I'm looking for a 64GB kit that isn't going to break the bank, but also doesn't have terrible timings. Something in the 3600Mhz range would be good too.

  • +1

    Had this ram, no issues

  • Go ok with my G.Skill Ripjaws V 16GB (2x8GB) 3200MHz CL16 DDR4 ?

  • Picked up two sets nice little upgrade 32gb for my 4 slot motherboard now to find a graphics deal

    • +2

why didn't get 16 * 2 and keep extra 2 slots for future upgrades ?

      • With 32gb of ram, any future required upgrades probably wouldn't be a result of lack of ram would they?

        • you never know though, ex: need to use multiple VM, productivity tasks etc
so better to keep that option anyway, most 4 DIMM slot MB can do upto 128 GB

      • Some motherboards are better off using only 2 out of 4 slots - the dual channel. So the 16GBx2 may have been a better option. Also if you lose operability with a dual slot you can use the other dual slot :)

      • Lesson learned always read the add damn it LOL
