    • You can get really good second hand ones for good prices on marketplace. But there will no doubt be some deals for black friday :)

    • buy the game when it is on sales, then you can sell it easily once you finished the game

  • Ok, you finally got me. Getting one. I've been wanting one for a while, I really want to play BotW.

    • -5

      Prepare to be disappointed.

I’ve said for years that game was not deserving of the praise it got at launch and wouldn’t age well compared to classic (real?) Zelda games.

And here we go, it’s shine is finally starting to fade https://www.thegamer.com/zelda-dont-get-breath-of-the-wild-t…

      • Oh no!

        • +2

You’ll still have fun. Just prepare yourself that it might not be the greatest game ever created that was getting thrown around at launch.

        • +8

Nah, always going to be haters. BotW is an excellent game, and a great entry in a brilliant series.

          • -1

            @porterble:

Nah, always going to be haters

Also called people with differing opinions to yours.

            • +4

@PainToad: Let's not talk about differing opinions when you just said it didn't deserve the praise it received. A bit hypocritical, I'd say.

        • It's an essential game if you own the Switch. Make up your own mind

          • @brokeneither: Thankfully it’s on the Wii U too so I didn’t need to buy a Switch only to be disappointed.

            • +1

@PainToad: Cool beans. Good for you

Nobody owns a Wii U these days lol.

Wii U version runs at 720p with more severe frame dips. Choppy.

Switch version at 900p with far more stable frame rate in general.

              • -5

@brokeneither: 900p omg the future is now 🙄

Lower fps and higher resolution doesn’t change the gameplay. It’s same average game.

                • +1

@PainToad: An 'average' game that has somehow sold over 20 million copies…

            • @PainToad: No wonder you got disappointed. I tried it on the Wii U as well and it was an awful experience. So logically, I played it on the slightly more powerful console that preceded it and I was just captivated by this game.

              • @savemesomemoney: My issue wasn’t performance. My issue was the world is so spares, generic and repetitive.

It’s like an open world game from the 2000s. Which I guess is understandable considering Nintendo’s lack of experience with true open world games and the ancient hardware.

      • That article, in short, says "It's a beautiful, fun, slow paced game that I'm surprised almost everybody likes"

        • We all have differing tastes in anything. So one mans great game may not be the others cup of tea.

      • On the other hand be prepared for one of the best games ever made

You just need the time to play it

    • +2

Wish i could experience it again without any knowledge of it. Be patient and explore. Don't ruin it like i did by using walkthroughs

      • Thanks! I will be patient.

      • re: botw, the game puzzles are simple enough not to require walkthroughs. i was able to complete the main story w/o walkthroughs. it's really fun going into it in the early days before the whinge hoard took over.

imo walkthroughs are potentially needed if you want to save time when you are going for 100% completion.

        • Some chests in the expansion are in ridiculous places.and some shrine puzzles are super complicated

          • @belongsinforums: it is a while since i last played it (got it when it first came out with the switch), i don't recall i ran into that much issue with the shrines… 1 or 2 were frustrating because it becomes a platformer puzzle.

i needed help online to track that crappy collectable (which is optional to do) to 100% it and a particularly grindy (but totally optional to the story) getting that legendary item.

probably it was the only game i had at that point in time and i had heaps of time on my hands, my partner helped out with grinding money playing one of the minigames also. lol

  • +3

Oh man, such a good deal. Now to look for games, accessories and a memory card!

    • -6

Think you mean SD card 🫤

      • +2

        Think you mean microSD card

        • and no need very big ones if you planning to buy cartridges, correct?

          • @CyberMurning: You do if you like to sail the high seas.

          • @CyberMurning: Depends on the games you have on cartridge. There has been some massive game updates and some games are digital only, so they can add up.

MicroSD cards are very cheap anyway, 128gb is like $20. I have 400gb from one of the amazon deal, think it was around $54.

            • @CodeXD: ah yeah forgot about updates i was thinking save files only.

          • @CyberMurning: 128gb absolute minimum. Bigger is better

      • Thx for sharing your wisdom.

      • else how do we ensure the QC at nintendo is rock solid unless we regression test it for a long period of time? :)

  • +1

Donezo!! Thanks OP I've been waiting for a massive bargain

  • +1

Thank you OP, bought it as my 5 year old was behind me to buy one.
Can someone suggest which Mario game will be the good one for her as she is calling out Mario/Peach all the time.

    • +3

Mario Kart or Kirby and the forgotten land. My son is only 6, so the limitation for games is reading and following instructions.

      • Thank you buddy. Appreciate your response.

  • Finally spent some of shopback superswap vouchers

  • 500 sold

  • Great find OP was waiting for black friday but jumped on this

  • does anyone have 2 switches? does anyone how does the games purchased on the same profile work?

    • +1

You can install them on both using the same profile, but can't play at the same time. The work around is putting one in airplane mode so you can play them both at the same time, but can't play together.

    • +1

Depends on the game. Some games will cloud share saves etc, but others do not.

Notable in the list which don't support cloud sharing are all of the Pokemon games, which only allow one profile per device.

The other gotcha is that secondary devices often need cloud authentication on non-physical games, so be sure to set the Switch to Airplane mode/offline mode before flying if you are doing that.

      • urgh. that seems like a major pita. I just wanted to be able to play 1 game while i can have the kids go nuts with other games at the same time on a different switch. some of those are smash bros/ mario cart, which I suspect requires internet.

        • Yeah, all of that works fine. We have three Switches, and for games where there might be conflicts we just bought them physically.

          • @porterble: I'm still a bit confused. You bought 3 copies of the game? I'm looking to buy 2 switches and hoping not to have to buy 2 copies of every game.

            • @admira: No. Bought one copy of most games. Only multiples are the Pokemon series so that the kids can play simultaneously together.

But bought physical copies of games that they might want to actually fight over who gets to play it. Means that they know that only one of them can play at any one time.

              • @porterble: So if Child A on Switch A wants to play Mario Kart with Child B on Switch B - I need two copies of the game?

                • @admira: Yes. But if Child A wants to play Pokemon while Child B wants to play Mario Kart, then only one copy each.

                • @admira: Games like mario kart Child A and B can play on a single switch, split screen.

          • @porterble: ah, looking at the referenced https://www.nintendo.co.uk/Support/Nintendo-Switch/How-to-Pl…

it looks like i can't just get another console to let the kids play mario carts (which i bought digitally with my profile), while at the same time play xenoblade chronicles 3 (which i also bought digitally with my profile).

wish they did it like steam, where you can play as long as it's not the same game.

            • +1

              @slowmo:

it looks like i can't just get another console to let the kids play mario carts (which i bought digitally with my profile), while at the same time play xenoblade chronicles 3 (which i also bought digitally with my profile).

You can do this. For example:

You play XC3 on your main switch and let the kids play MK8 on the secondary console (but they have to use your profile).

Otherwise, your kids can play MK8 on the main switch on their own profile, and you play XC3 on second switch on your own profile (must be connected to internet to play).

              • @CodeXD: ooh i have never considered the latter option! that seams ideal, thanks! i probably need to check out how the parental controls work also … unfortunately deal has ended but i don't mind getting one at a later date anyway if i could do this.

    • Here's some instructions. You can play games on two consoles and only buy 1 digital copy, one on the account that owns them and one on a different account on the Primary Console for the account that owns them. You can play the same game together online at the same time, for example visiting each others islands in Animal Crossing. Apparently it doesn't work with local wireless, only online, though I haven't tried local wireless personally.

If it's for different games at the same time you should be able to play with no issues. I think the other thing is the "secondary console" needs to be online.

  • +1

Better wait until it ships before I trade in the old one.

  • +1

Thanks OP! Finally picked one for my kid, birthday gift sorted. Any game recommendation for a 11 y/o?

    • +2

cant go wrong with any of the mario games, from odyssey on down, but breath of the wild primarily… might create a lifelong gamer tho, be careful.

      • That could be the biggest problem

      • Thanks mate!

    • Mortal Kombat X!

  • that might be the best value switch deal ive ever seen

  • Such a great deal, but I already got a OG switch, switch lite and white OLED version.

    Had to pass this

    • I bought one, have the same three currently (OG launch day, Palkia and Dialgia Switch Lite, and white OLED)…

Might have to sell the OG.

  • +1

    Grab one, thanks a lot!

  • Thanks OP

Got the Pokémon One on Pre-Order at Eb Games.

Going to get this and trade it in for the new Pokémon one. Because I’m level 5 I get a bonus 25% trade credit, comes out to a total outlay of $490 instead of $549

    • Is that based on the current bonus deal because I doubt you will get it by the end of the month from my experience with Big W and Aus Post.

  • Tempted to buy this, combine with my 80 dollar eBay plus deal (so 50 out of pocket there to sign up now) and then trade it in to EB for the console trade boost deal. I'd get 396 for an OLED

    So spend 50 bucks
    Get 80 voucher
Buy this for 299 (total spend now is 349)
    Play for a while
    Trade for 396

Meaning I'd get almost 50 bucks and a year of eBay Plus…for (profanity) around with a new toy for a couple days….ooooooh tempting.

Can anyone comment on if this would get here delivered in time for me to do that anyway? That's why I won't bother in the end, because it won't get here before the trade deal ends on the 31st in all likelihood. Still, would be fun.

Now I'm tempted to dump my Switch Lite for this. Same 349 spend, but I get 204 for a Switch Lite traded, meaning 145 bucks to upgrade to a Switch OLED. Do I really care though? I did dump my launch model Switch for the Lite when it became apparent Xbox had stolen back my heart a few years ago and I never used the Switch on the tele…but like, shiiiiet idk now. (profanity) you OzBargain, making me spend money I didn't need to.

    • sorry you got Nuked, Duke
too late… next time buy first ask later.. Unfortunately, this code no longer works. Please continue with your order.

    • combine with my 80 dollar eBay plus deal

Don't think you'll be able to stack 'PLUS379' with your $80 Code.

      • Oh really? I was on the fence half and half sure, but is the 80 buck voucher a code? That's a piss off, knowing I can't use it on anything else with a code would definitely make me not bother signing up, cheers for that one.

Probably wouldn't have anyway, never really use eBay these days anyways.

        • Yeah that's how they get you, its a voucher not a gift card. That mean you cant use it with another voucher. They used to give gift cards but that obviously hurt them.

  • oh Sugar! missed out

  • +1

    Thanks op!!!!

  • Damn looks like I just missed it

    • Snooze you lose unfortunately. Maybe in the black friday sale.

      • I was working lol
