Nice, but I’m not driving 4 hours from my location to the next eligible cinema. Good if you live in the city!

      ok

  • Thanks OP. Got one.

    Free ice cream!

Can you redeem without watching a movie?

  • +1

Yes, I got it redeemed without any movie voucher

    • I redeemed this and had to pay an extra $2.50 - did you have to pay extra? @gotyourback can you confirm if this is supposed to be happening

      • Well that is silly. why should you have to pay more when its for a choc top?

I can see that the Choc top is listed at $7 online, but the voucher is for a choc top, not $4.50 of credit for a choc top.

It's like buying a discount adult movie ticket voucher and then they charge you more to see the movie.

Someone else please reconfirm your experience and at which cinema as the terms and conditions on the voucher state that it entitles you to 1 x choc top, and it says nothing about having to see an actual movie.

      • Hey mate, this shouldn't be the case, the staff member in at the cinema should just be able to scan the voucher and it'll come up as free in the register. Can you elaborate on what's happened here? Happy to take a further look mate.

        • When they scanned the voucher, it came up as $4.50 off at the register so they told me to pay the extra $2.50 even when I told them my voucher was for a free choc top.

This was the free choc top voucher from the challenge a couple of weeks ago with purchase of the event movie ticket also with the expiry of end of October. This would be the same voucher though right?

@Ladideeda: Hmmm yeah should definitely be the same. We've had a lot of redemptions for this one and haven't heard anything similar so it sounds like it might have been staff error on this occasion. Gone ahead and fixed up the difference on your ShopBack account for you mate!

I had a similar issue with the last choc top voucher as well. The staff were having trouble scanning the voucher at the cinema when I went to redeem it (two of them tried). They ended up writing down the voucher number and PIN and said they would get their manager to sort it out/redeem it and let me have the choc top.

Hopefully this one will go through smooth sailing tomorrow when I go to redeem :)

@wekimekigugudan: @wekimekigugudan @JHoliday thanks heaps for the feedback here, will feed it to our voucher team to take a look at how this can be better communicated to cinema staff. If you ever do have trouble, do reach out to me here and I'll do what I can to sort it for you.

              • @gotyourback: Went to redeem today at Event Cinemas Myer Centre (Brisbane CBD) and staff member said it came up on computer that there was $2 owing.

Again a second staff member tried to help but they couldn’t figure it out, so they wrote down the voucher details and will process it later. Seems their system isn’t configured properly to accept the voucher or staff aren’t trained in how to process it correctly. Either way can’t complain as the deal worked out in the end.

                • @JHoliday: Glad to hear it worked out in the end, mate, hopefully will be more seamless to redeem next time we run something similar.

                  • @gotyourback: Today, on a hot day in Brisbane…
Event staff told me this voucher was only for $4.50. Told them it's for free choc top.
Scanned 4 times, taking ages to try different things with computer - before they gave up.

Really wasn't worth the trouble - for a fairly small tasteless ice cream. The chocolate top was broken & fallen off.

@INFIDEL: Sorry to hear mate, did you end up needing to pay anything for the choc top, or did they eventually let the voucher do as described?

          • @JHoliday: Similar experience today.

  • +3

Got it redeemed at George Street without any movie ticket. No payment is needed. (Although the voucher balance show as $4.50 and choc top cost $7)

The Scoop Alley is located at Ground Level (before the ticket checking point) so basically everyone can walk-in and out.

Bulla Murray St Choc Top Flavours:
boysenberry swirl, caramel maple, vanilla bean and mint & cookies.

    • well off to visit the local cinema for an icecream and no movie, bugger theres only 1 in Vic which is even less than Darwin!

  • redeemed a yummy choc top 😋

Cheers EC, OP, SB and GYB!

  • Looks like it was sold out already?

    • Yeah all remaining stock got snapped up, sadly! Hopefully we'll be able to run again in future.

  • Got mine no problem in WA. Thanks SB!
