Grant's description:
Aged in three distinct woods for a smoother taste. I am a big whisky drinker, I find this absolutely undrinkable

    • why?

      • +1

I found it had a horrible almost chemical taste. Definitely not smooth or mellow

I would pick Black Label or Chivas any day of the week

    • +2

Some reviews have it as ok. I'm doubtful. Just go the monkey shoulder or black label at 20% off instead

At 32 bucks don't bother with a review, just get one and try it.

I drink many different whiskies - this one is absolutely fine as a fairly smooth, unexciting, but very consistent blend. If you want your socks knocked off with smokey peat then look elsewhere.

        • At 32 bucks don't bother with a review, just get one and try it.

True, my time to read the review is worth more than $32

@jv: I wonder how much time people spend reading jv comments and corresponding indirect costs (or investment??)

            • @DONMAI: Do you want the average, or the total?

              • @jv: I think most would prefer neither.

    • +5

Yes, but that's because you tried to drink it.

It's intended to live on the bottom shelf of your serving cart, hidden behind other bottles, only tentatively reached for as a mixer when it can be adequately diluted and it's taste profile absolutely obliterated by some sweetener or liqueur or whatnot

    • For $32 its fine for mixer or when you are already pissed and won't be able to tell

      • +1

        excellent for some guest ;)

Grants is a good standard blend imho. On par with others in the price range.

But reckon the 1 litre Johnnie Walker Black 12 y.o. on sale for $70, bringing it down to $56 with the 20% off, is a step up and a better deal.

Taste and preference is, as always, a personal thing. What ever floats your boat and all that.

Wait, there’s no Coles in QLD?

      • Nope, they all closed down.

        • I didn't think grocery stores were allowed to sell alcohol in QLD - hence my question.
