Western Digital 500GB My Passport Studio Portable Hard Drive $67 - Office Works (IN-STORE ONLY)

250

RRP $179

Went into my local officeworks in Warner's Bay NSW, and saw a deal on their 500GB My passport studio 2.5" portable hard-drives. Connectivity: Firewire 800 and USB 2.0, also has a customizable display (e-label) which can function without being connected and indicates space remaining.

Picked one up, looks like a decent deal if you don't need heaps of space.

Not sure if you'll find them everywhere, but the store I visited had about 4 or 5 left on the shelf. Seen them anywhere cheaper?

  • says online only and can't add to cart

  • These are really good - we have four of these at home (need the firewire being Mac users).

  • Out of stock

  • had 2 in my cart, tried to check out and it was out of stock :(

    • unlucky!

      • Rang Trinity Gardens, none in stock
Rang Prospect, also none in stock
Decided to just drive to the stores just in case the sales person didnt know which one i was after and went to Glles Plains and got the last 2 on shelf.

        Thanks OP

  • Yeah, out of stock online, but they had a few in-store, may be worth checking.

i checked marion earlier, didn't have any. couldn't be bothered driving to noarlunga though. fuel + time would eat into my bargain.

      • ask them to deliver to the nearest store. I did that for mine, will pick up at Prospect store!

  • Anyone know what drives inside this? 5400 / 7200?

Picked the last one up from Werribee, box a bit dusty but works ok, note it comes with usb cable, firewire 800 cable and a firewire 800 to 400 adaptor. Sorry to the guy hovering behind me looking like he wanted one too.

Went to pick up one, but they had none. They had the Toshiba Canvio 1TB portable with 3.0 for $119, which was a great deal.

    • i second this! picked up one for myself

  • Pakenham VIC still has about 5 in stock though only 1 on the shelf. I got 2.

BTW, Officeworks generic pencil sharpeners are rubbish (should be branded easy-break)

OW should have an online instore stock checker (similar to dick smith)..

    • LOLz as if thats accurate

  • Anyone knows if there are any store near Sydney has this in stock? I've tried 3 Officeworks already with no luck =(

    • You can ask them to check for stock at other stores. They offered that to me when I went in store for this.

      • That's exactly what I asked the guy at Lewisham Officeworks but he refused to do it. He said it's better off if I make those phone calls myself…

What a knob. Should've asked someone else to check or asked for the manager. It only takes a couple minutes to look up the database of store stock. I'd be raging if he said that to me.

        • He mentioned that the stock level showing in their intranet isn't always accurate. I am planning to start making phone calls come lunchtime!

Even if store stocks weren't accurate you'd imagine 0 stock would mean 0 stock. But if some stock was showing, you'd be able to call those stores to confirm its existence.

        • Just did. Called Auburn who had none, but saw Guildford having one. Called Guildford, placed it on hold, travelled 40mins there and found out it's a returned faulty stock. Called every other store and the only one who has it is Wagga Wagga, which is 450km away from me. Oh well, no hard drive for me =(
