All time low from Amazon.

I would say hold off if you can, it would make sense for this to be even cheaper around Black Friday or Christmas.

Its probably the best price from recent deals as its free shipping.

  • pls amazon do 199 for 5600 non X

      • Damn paid 199 + shipping from Scorptec 2 days ago. Ah well, wanted to use my PayPal balance anyway.

        • +2

Plus you get "Uncharted Legacy of Thieves Edition" for buying from scorptec, if that is of any interest to ya

          • +1

@Mittle Lix: Ah haha I did know that but didn't know it's not offered through Amazon! A $75 game certainly makes up for it (2 games, in fact)

  • +1

geez that's good, paid like 200 more just last year :/

  • How much better is this over a Ryzen 5 3500X?

    What kind of improvements

    • +4

In terms of performance, probs about 12-15%

In terms of graphics, the 5600G is jawdroppingly unchallenged by the 3500x

      • +3

Jawdropping in the sense that the integrated graphics of the 5600G are fine for entry level gaming, whereas the 3500X's integrated graphics are non-existent?

        • +8

          Well that is ∞% better

        • Yes

    • +1

Would be a lot faster in multicore stuff like transcoding video.
Probably not much better in gaming unless you're running a 3070+ or somehting a bit slower but at 1080p
But it might play smoother in some games since the 5600G has 12 threads instead of 6
The 3500x plays generally a decent bit slower than a 3600, and the 3600 plays generally a little bit slower than a 5600g

not me buying this yesterday at $177…

    • +3

Just think of it as paying $8 for express shipping

      • If he's lucky, it can come with the uncharted game(s).

But what if he means 177 then some delivery lol

  • I would say hold off if you can, it would make sense for this to be even cheaper around Black Friday or Christmas.

Are parts prices dropping across the board or is this being superseeded soon?

    • There’s already AM5 CPU’s but that means new mobo and RAM. These sore be around a good while longer.

Big oversupply on many parts, mostly previous gen graphics cards but also am4 processors to a lesser degree. The trick is catching the prices at the bottom of the drop, when they are most desperate to clear stock. They will tick back up a little once the distribution channel overstocks clear out.

No way of knowing if this is the bottom or not. I personally am holding off for black Friday too. Will give me a little more time to stock up on discounted amazon & ebay gift cards.

    • Unlike with the switch from Zen 2 to Zen 3, i wouldn't be surprised if Zen 3 CPUs stick around longer in one form or another for longer.
Zen 2 disappeared almost immediately because zen3 was manufactured on the same node, so AMD didn't see much point in making zen 2 CPUs when they could just make more Zen 3 for the same cost.
Whereas Zen 3 uses an older, and presumably cheaper node so AMD can effectively keep pumping these out until it stops being profitable for them.
Though they might repackage Zen 3 chiplets for sale on AM5 to try and sell people on the new platform which would put an end to Ryzen 5000 supply I guess.
Price wise it's anyone's guess, I doubt AMD and retailers are profiting much with CPUs at these prices. I dont think semiconductor prices have come down much so my money's on them trending up again at some point.

Only 1 left in stock, I don't think it will go down drastically from here.

I just built one of these and everything went wrong.
    Multiple blue screens.
    The nvme died
    Power Supplied died
Replaced them with new parts and still blue screening
The problem turned out to be the intergrated gpu was faulty.

Its great value for money but AMD is a hit or miss. Spend the extra money and get a 12th gen i3

    • +4

Anecdotal evidence is not really representative of the wider market. It sucks what happened in your case but I've had great experiences with the AMD CPUs and it seems to be across the board

      • -1

        Not going to self promote.

I've been selling desktops for 13 years now and have built over 5000 desktops in that time. My only recommendation is buy the CPU and mobo from the same place. If anything goes wrong with a PC there the only 2 parts that don't have definitive tests to diagnose the problem.

This particular build I took back to supplier and was told it was fine but had multiple bluescreens within an hour. I bit the bullet and replaced it with an i3 and Intel mobo and the problems went away

    • There's always going to be bad eggs.

    • +2

LOL…if that many parts (mind you those are not really CPU related things) all die…I think you have other problems you need to resolve. What's the common factor in your build?….

      • If i were to guess it would have been the dead PSU
Those things take everything with them when they go sometimes.

  • +1

Cost me twice as much 6 months ago.

    • RIP
Yeah it sucks when that happens.
I got a 5600X right before the 5600 came out too

HODL comments for $169 delivered lol

    It's a decent APU for a decent price; it's
not some mid range GPU for $1200+ covid tax price.
If you need it just buy it FFS people how much is your time worth!

  • Same price at centercom and umart just incase you misses out on this :)
