JUICYFRUIT

Next up we bring you award-winning Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon 2020 for just $8.25/bottle.

90 Points Wine Enthusiast Magazine (USA): "A succulent, juicy fruited Cab with oodles of cherry and plum fruit, backed by savory spice, tobacco and mint. Medium-bodied, the focus on the palate is again on the fresh primary fruit. It’s tugged gently by spicy tannins, and a peppery note lingers on the finish. Easy, everyday drinking, particularly by Cabernet standards.USD20/bottle"

Produced by sixth-generation, small family vigneron, Bec Hardy

Vineyard: Sourced from the Coonawarra region known for producing outstanding Cabernet Sauvignon.

Vintage: The start of the 2020 growing season was dry with warmer than average temperatures. Heat and wind during flowering led to lower fruit set and subsequently lower yields at harvest. The temperatures became milder from late January, allowing the vines to recover and helping maintain acidity. Although crops were down considerably this vintage, they quality has been fantastic.

Story: Time flies when you’re having fun, they say, and this is never more true than the last two years! It's been a blast getting our hands on the wheel of the family business and taking it forward for the next generation!

Nose: The nose offers youthful aromas of blackcurrants, dark cherries and a hint of menthol.

Palate: The palate is elegant with juicy notes of dark berries and plums, complemented by well-integrated tannins.

Cellaring: Drink now to 2028

Screwcap. Vegan.

  • I wouldn’t mind ordering but ORDER #5549 from 12th Oct is still in transit to Perth with no updates. Those experiences have increased unfortunately. Anything you can do to reaffirm sticking with Bechardy?

    • Hi @MerlinKlendatu - Apologies for the delay. Clearly, we'd hope you'd be in receipt of those by now. Have you raised the matter with us prior to the board here? Is someone in the office already looking at this for you?
If not, I'll raise an enquiry with the Aramax.
We are aware that Aramax are facing delays into WA and have ceased using them for current deliveries into WA.
I'll drop you an email in a few minutes.
      Cheers!

    • Follow-up email sent :-)

      • Thank you, very prompt.

        • My pleasure :-)

    • Mate, as someone who works in an e-commerce business, Aramex and Auspost are often bad. The best move is contacting the seller and if they are a good business they will push deliverers into action. I've seen so many parcels 'lost' by Auspost for 2 weeks, then one contact with them and they magically deliver it next day. Aramex are the worst though, after Amazon stated using them, they began screwing over small businesses.

      • +2

I knew that my response would illicit the great freight debate again, so I prepared a response.

We deliver around 30,000 parcels each year for over twelve years during my time here. We use three of the largest courier networks in Australia, namely, Couriers Please, Aramax and Australia Post. Currently, 98.2% of all our deliveries are completed without issues. Occasionally, something goes awry – whether that is a damaged parcel or delayed delivery.

Of course, we work to reduce that 1.8% as much as we possibly can though sadly it is not a perfect system.

Franchise systems are imperfect. I ran the operations of one for an ASX company in a life before wine. Today, we constantly review service levels by location – we have in recent times stopped using Australia Post into VIC when we saw a lift in breakages. We have recently ceased Aramax into WA as there have been unacceptable delays.

You all hear of issues at the delivery end, but there are considerations at the senders end. Firstly, like deliveries, service for pick-ups in a regional area can be challenging. Each carrier has capacity issues. Therefore, a spread across three carriers means it is the quickest way to get your wine to you.

Everyone has a horror story about every courier company. We welcome requests for your preferred carrier. The reality is, even today, someone has requested Aramax and someone else Australia Post because that is their preferred option in their area.

I can tell you they are all as good as each other. And if a company truly was that bad, we simply wouldn’t use them as the service and reputational impact on our business would be contagious.

There are ways which you can help us to help you and you can read more on that here -> https://bechardy.com.au/blogs/blog-news/waiting-for-your-del…

  • Thanks for posting this deal, I've been waiting for a recommended Cab Sav deal for a while so took the plunge with Bec Hardy wines. I look forward to receiving here in the wilds of Qld and trying it. Cheerz Wabster.

    • Thanks @wabster - a few Cabernet Sauvignon coming this way over the coming weeks. A few of our Cabernets are going into the US at the moment as they grapple with a domestic shortage of Cabernet due to drought and smoke taint in California.
You might know but in the US Cabernet the most popular red wine variety - Shiraz doesn't even feature in the top 10! Enjoy the weekend!
      Cheers! RD :-)
