    Isn't that a bit steep for a 2019 version?

2021 version - digital download 39.99 USD for either windows or mac here —> https://shop.appleinsider.com/sales/microsoft-office-home-bu…

    • Yes, was just searching for this link to post. Is available in this price from many months. This is professional version compare to home and student edition offered. Available for Windows and Mac but have to buy separately.

I did do a search and it's quite a bit cheaper than other retailers online. This is also Windows & Mac, and not just Mac.

      • +2

From your page listing - Installs on one PC or Mac..

The item from apple insider also installs on one PC or Mac - you just choose the version you want…

        • I guess I could be wrong, I was working from the text on the site that says "1 Mac" a few times and doesn't mention PC.

    • Is appleinsider legit? Any real life experience to share please?

    • +1

Is that site legit, or another one of those selling dubious grey market keys?

      • i'm not associated with appleinsider - but can confirm i have purchased that same version (2021 for Mac) from that site have been using for the past 9 months 12 months. (edit: just checked - i've been using nearly 12 months - purchase date = Mon, 8 Nov 2021, 14:26)

https://appleinsider.com/ is a legit site, with affiliates to sell software and other goods.

        FWIW - https://www.scam-detector.com/validator/appleinsider-com-rev…

        • I have to agree with apiecost. There are just so many online sellers selling dubious keys at low prices, some buyers are lucky and have no problem using the keys and the software for years, but others got their license and access terminated or they just don't register in the first place.

I'll get downvoted to buggery, but there's no way they are selling legit Microsoft license keys at 88% off. If you search online it's a dumpster fire. A little different to a boxed retail copy, but hey :)

sorry man - not meaning to rain on this parade, given it's a bargain site here, just sharing my experiences with a product that's seemingly much cheaper. Both digital downloads at the end of the day.

          • @spikiii: Don’t mean to rain on your parade but pro licences are not retail and won’t be legit but you got lucky for the time being

          • @spikiii: That's cool, I like a bargain just like anyone else. One is cheaper and comes with risk (and the chance that you're paying somebody for a volume license key that cost them nothing), and one is a thing in a box with an Australian part number.

          • @spikiii: Not disagreeing with you on your experience but follow the below steps to confirm if your key is retail or Volume License.

            https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/troubleshoot…

        • Yes, it may not be legit because the offer is pulling from many months ( 1 year) as bought by spikii, but their website always shows limited time offer like currently mac version ending in 19 hours and Windows version ending on 7 days.

      • The site is legit. The key…uhm use it at your own risk. :-P

  • I do need word and excel.
This or pay a little more for the 2021 version (saveonit) has it for $158…

  • I've been trying to transfer my office 2019 pro from old laptop to new laptop and it's a real sh*t show. M$ really making it difficult. I did it in the past so they must have screwed up the activation process somewhere (it's a legit key)

    • Retail keys are saved in your MS account, you should be able just login to your MS account which has your key and it will auto activate.

    • I thought once you add it to your account, you should be able to log in and download… then sign into the MS apps with the same email address and it'll activate?

when I log in I can see this:

  • Rip off. These cheap keys are only normally $50 for mac. They work just fine.

    Cheaper for Windows around $30.

    • so why did u upvote lol

      • Still better than paying hundreds of dollars. Lol

Paying for office heh. I've been getting it for free from my edu :P

    yes im showing off

Based on my understanding, there are 3 kind of keys
    1. Retail key($150+)
You can install on one computer, and you can transfer to new computer when you got a new computer.(based on the price of this deal, I hope what they sale falls in this category)
    2. Digital licence($30-$50)
Sometimes called ESD(Electronic Software Delivery), you can install on one computer and that's it, you cannot transfer it to another computer.
    3. Volume licence(<$10)
These key are definitely volume key and may be deactivated anytime. Same as those activating by send you an account to log-in, most likely a fake edu domain which will be deactivated eventually.

Point 2 is actually the same as 1, but you don't buy it in a box off the shelf. For example, Office Home & Business 2021 is $349 from the Microsoft store online, or you can buy the retail box for the same price. One isn't cheaper than the other, unless Officeworks drops a few dollars off the small margin.

A digital copy of office for $30-$50 I'm highly certain is somebody selling an illegitimate key, and I suspect you'd actually get an Office Pro key that will eventually stop updating - probably depending on how many they oversell and how many people re-activate it. For the low price though, I understand why people go that way.

      • I always hear buying things much cheaper than they are is problematic and so on, I've been buying software like this for years and never had an issue. I think it's more of a rare occurance rather than common

        • +1

Correct. They don't deactivate and don't stop updating.

Office 365 cheap licences definitely do deactivate eventually though. Stay away from office 365.

      • So you can transfer ESD from one computer to another?

That's the main difference between 1 and 2.
