Wifi 7 is coming out next year.

    • +8

      So is Apple Car apparently?

      • Some people may appreciate the info.
It adds a 3rd frequency natively. Whereas Wifi6E seems more like a proof of concept.

Routers with 20 Antennas are coming out next year with self crawling function to improve connectivity

      • Is that a joke or a real thing? What's self-crawling mean? A new type of web-crawler?

        • +3

I think he was joking about the number of legs on these.

        • Lol

  • Not quite a centipede yet

  • +4

So can this summon food yet?

    • -1

When it gains sentience, you are the food

      • When that happens does it flip upside down and walk around the place like a crab or spider

  • +1

Drone router is coming out next year hahaha.

  • is it mountable?

    • +2

      Yes, in spiderwebs

    • +1

Yes anything is mountable if you’re brave enough.

For this price you could potentially get an electrician to run cat 6 and install access points at the router and 1 room.

    • +14

      You are dreaming.

      • $500 to install a couple of ethernet points isn't dreaming. Depends on the house ofc.

        • +3

Its $150 to $200 per wall point plus installing cable which can be anywhere from $500 to $1000 depending on your walls plus cable/wall outlet cost which they will charge you a ridiculous price.

Will be a days job and you will rarely find a sparky that would do it for less than $1k

    • +2

Then I can use all that cat6 for my iPhone, iPad, MacBook, and IoT devices! Just need a way to convert cat6 into WiFi, anyone got any ideas?

        • +2

Nah, for that price, I could just wire 2 rooms with cat6…

      • +1

I have a USB C ethernet dongle. So when I move around my house I just take a 10m ethernet cable with me and plug my phone into the port in that room. Really good speeds and not too inconvenient. Wifi is overrated

      • Something cheaper than a 'gaming router'

  • +2

Get massive cat 8 cables and run them around. Even tape them to the walls and that'll cost less and perform better

  • +4

    Looks like a facehugger

  • That is one scary looking router. Ready to devour the uninitiates.

  • +2

I'm wary of TP-Link routers now. I have the AC5400X (which looks almost identical) and it doesn't even have VPN Client capacity. Expensive routers in that price range should have everything!

  • I would embarrassed to own that, and more importantly exhausted from explaining what it is to everyone
