damn. hate it when they use flybuys points as discounts… it only increase your flybuys limits which is not worth it imo D:

  • +2

    What’s the discount? 5%?

    • +1

rough estimation 1.9% discount for $250 card and 5% for $100 card

      • +1

        Aren’t you spending $105 to get $110 ? That’s not 5%!

        • +1

And the extra $10 can only spend at flybuys participating shop, so less than it face value

  • If I manage to get 5 x $250.00 cards in a single transaction, do I get 5 x 2000 flybuy points or just 2000 points per transaction?

    • +4

5 x $100 is preferred for this offer.

    • +2

you'll get 5 x 2000 points . With this deal , maximum benefit is when you buy $100 cards .

    • +4

You’re better off getting 5 x $100 cards. Your return is about $25 after fees.
5 x $250 cards your return would be only about $15

    • +1

5 x 2000 points. Got this points deal last time.

    • +1

this promo should be more value on $100 card.
      pay $105 get $100 GC + worth $10 FB$, so equal 5% off

      • -1

        Aren’t you spending $105 to get $110 ? That’s not 5% off…more like 4.54%

        • +4

Earn 2000 + 105 flybuys pts per card, which makes it to 5%.

Plus a free small coffee @ Coles Express from fuel voucher per card purchased separately.

          • @Neoika: Touché! That’s $10.52 in flybuys. Just over 5% :)

  • Anyone know if we can use flybuys dollars to pay and still get 2k bonus pts?

    • +2

I previously tried that and it did not work

  • +3

Do look at advisories about potential fraud

    • Not just fraud, but also a limited number of places you can use them.

Some people have reported certain bills are unable to be paid. Leaving you holding these cards longer than necessary.

      • cant you just use these cards to buy other gc? I turned my extra ones into woolies gc.

        • Yes you can. Assuming the place you are buying from accepts them/haven’t been blocked yet.

  • +7

Can't be used to pay ATO, Wise, Water Corp, and the list is growing

    • I used it to pay ATO just a few weeks ago, did something change?

      • +1

Yep. I paid my ato bill on the same day i got my gc a few weeks ago and had no issues. I have a few more gc and ato no longer accepts them.

      • +3

I had no problems redeeming Coles Mastercard gift cards on the ATO portal on 01 November, but one of two things happened the next day:

        • The ATO blocked Coles Mastercard gift cards, as the ATO probably became concerned about the number of unverified cards being used to send payments to them.

        • InComm (the owner of the Coles Mastercard gift card scheme) blocked the ATO, as they were concerned about the number of transactions going through the ATO.

I think the latter is the more likely of the two scenarios, as some gift card scheme owners (and/or gift card issuers) are likely worried about the ATO potentially being used as a mechanism for money laundering (or they just want us to not redeem the full balance of a gift card within hours of activation). I doubt the ATO is as worried, as they already have verified information about you as a person, so they are probably not as worried about huge numbers of cards with unverified cardholders going through their systems.

Keep in mind that Activ Visa gift cards and OnlyONE Visa gift cards also block the ATO (and the OnlyONE Visa gift card has blocked the ATO for a number of years now), so this is not that unusual, but no less frustrating to a lot of people.

      • You can check the comments in the last round of 10%off offer from Coles and we have started the petition to Heritage Bank as they breach their own t&c.

    • did ATO just change their system? would be very surprised given it's the public sector and they get their money regardless. I also just used last deal to pay my rates, bas and PHI.

      • +2

Doubt it. Probably Heritage Bank blocking certain (popular) merchants.

  • I went to Coles Roseland today to get this promotion but I never been succeed

    • +2

      \_(•_•)_/

      • I'm really keen for this offer but never been lucky enough to get one.

  • Poor offer, give us the 10% off again

    Heritage now blocking extra things

    Doesn't work on shopback anymore

    • +1

I added a coles mc on shopback today. Maybe u added too many cards too often. Wait for it to reset.

      • Thanks mate, ill give it another try

        • +1

A used card (not in full balance) can be added and used on Shopback from my recent exp.

          • +1

@Neoika: Happen to have one with $230 left on the card. Tried but SB didn’t accept it, saying something like not able to verified it with the Bank.

            • @sylvester328: OK, I added one with less than half of the full balance meanwhile one with full balance was not accepted. I have also used it in the Macca and KFC App before, which is a possible factor.

Maybe the previous purchase needs to be settled for a few days or so. Those factors won't be easily let out.

By saying so, it is definitely card issuer's setting that may be better for security purposes.

  • NO DEAL!

  • According to the Flybuys site 2000 points is worth $10.

So I buy a $250 Coles Mastercard Gift Card so I can get a $10 back with Flybuys points to then be charged a $7 Purchase Fee. Ultimately to save $3 and limit how/where I can spend my money? Am I missing something? Sounds like a pile of convoluted BS to me!

    • +1

Buying the $100 cards is better in this deal. See comments above.

    • +1

This type of promo is only beneficial for a specific purpose. If you don't understand why you should buy it, then you probably shouldn't.

  • Can I use Coles MC I bought last time to buy these new ones? Can I use Coles egift card to buy these?

    • You'd better use Coles Gift Card.

      • Does Coles egift card work?

        • +1

I used them during the last deal in October. If using self-check out the GC card must cover the total cost of the card. At manned check out you can split. The Coles POS allows these to be used but some stores/staff enforce the policy that you cannot use GCs to purchase GCs.

  • How do people use this?

I couldn't use it through Langtons for wine.

Many retailers do a small charge to check card, makes it so difficult to use. I even went through a Broker and he said the system wouldn't accept it.

Just seems like a pain in the butt when it's a credit card that can't be used everywhere.

    • When they do a small charge you can see it if you go here
      https://www.mybalancenow.com/#/

      • Yeah, just makes it a pain because it takes a day to confirm.

Or you spend less than $249 then left with a few bucks on the card.

Either way, my broker couldn't get his system to get it to work.

I see people in the other post are having issues using the card too.

  • Not as good as the previous deal but as I always say. These will eventually be hacked if you leave them long enough.

If you are going to buy these you need to spend them straight away.

    e.g.

    convert to gift cards
prepaid your bills, water, rates, utilities, tax bill

    QUICK

    • Yeah, I bought them for that.

However I wanted a few spare to buy wine, and now it doesn't seem to work.

I won't have any bills to pay for a while, and it's hard to track lesser amounts on these cards and do multiple card payments.

      It's super frustrating.

Bloody pre-paid MasterCard that can't even be used everywhere, what a joke.

Alot of people but these as gifts for people too.

      • some merchants have a list of cards that start with xyz and don't accept them… I'm not sure how it works but it happens

maybe it's a sign you should cut down on the wine hahaha

        • Probably, but I buy a bit throughout a broker and thought it'd be handy

It's such a pain in the ass

  • +1

For a active points collector, I felt this deal is slightly better than previous 10% off deals…it is much easier to get these cards in stock.

According to pointshack, they valued velocity point at 1.8c. I redeemed my Singapore air biz class flight from Sin to Euro (13hrs flight)for 92k point+$50 tax for the coming Xmas. Converted to 3c+ value for each point.

    • It was so hard finding flights 11 months ahead, but it cost me 236k Adelaide to Paris, Amsterdam to Adelaide via points.
      $190 in taxes, in business.

I couldn't find any first class flights unfortunately.

      • I believe there are multiple forums or FB groups for these info lol.

I was lucky to get one first class by EK from Euro to Dubai lol. The tax was high tho…

        • I'm on the forums, I couldn't find any availability when I was looking earlier this year.

There was some first class with qff partners, but high taxes.

I paid 190, my friend paid $1300 through Qantas for business return in taxes

    • how many points you need to book business class flights ? and how do you do that ? just want to learn as i never done it.. !

  • Can I use flybuy dollars buy coles prepaid master gift card?

    • Did not work for me

  • +1

I bought one 100 dollars mastercard yesterday morning, only get 105 points rather than 2000 points. Anyone has same experience?

    • +1

All of mine came in with the bonus points.

      • How long did the bonus points take and or did it show bonus points on the receipt?

        • +1

The next time around 5pm for most of time. No bonus pts mentioned on the receipt. However, if you receive a fuel voucher (alternative use) to be activated right after, it is a sign that the purchase has been registered on your flybuys successfully.

        • Just a day or two. Bought it on Wednesday, and got credited by Thursday afternoon.
