  • “Only valid on domestic Virgin Australia flights”..
where are their international flights, such as to Auckland?.

    • +3

Bali, Vanuatu, Fiji, Samoa and Queenstown.

  • Sorry, I am new to Amex. Where do you see these offers? When I login, it says no more offers

    • +7

Login to the Amex app > Offers. If you don’t see it, you haven’t been targeted. Maintain your OzBargain license & the Amex overlords you might give the next one.

    • +1

You might need to contact amex if you see no offers. Has happened to me before. You might not have this one but you should have some offers there.

    • how new? typically can take up to first statement period for offers to appear. (~1mth)

      • Thanks. That makes sense. 1 week new!!

  • +2

Got on additional card as well, do check if you are planning to get 1350+ domestic flight. I don’t think i will be using, so left to be claimed by fellow ozbargainer. Cheers

    • Same.

Although I wonder if Amex will be able to tell what flight was booked or if the payment is for an upgrade and other services.

      Remember Qantas offers.

    • Additional card as in when you add someone to your card?

      • When you get an additional card holder on the same account yeah

        • But the card remains same so wondering how do you get twice the offers?

  • +2

Perfect timing; gotta book all my flights for Feb-April next year

    • You fly a lot.

      • +6

Making up for two years of not being able to travel

  • Thanks OP, not sure will have to see if I need to book anything in

  • +8

I wonder if you could purchase a fully flexible fare and then cancel to get Virgin credit with a longer expiry?

    • +1

Will you try it and report back?

  • +1

ACA story on how Virgin cancelled someone's flights 3 times and the passenger was forced to take a $340 taxi from Coolangatta to Brisbane.

    • +1

Cant be worse than qantas/jetstar (even based on my recent experience with them)

    • +2

I legitimately fly exclusively Virgin and have never had a hitch. but i know that things happen.

Also that's silly to take a $304 Taxi. theres a Train that runs from OOL to BNE airport from memory? or at least somewhere in Gold Coast to BNE airport.
QLD is normal, they at least have Public transport from the airport unlike some other Airports in our country…..

    • uber $339, train $99, Bus $ 89 or similar?

  • +1

Had it on the non-Qantas Amex, makes sense 🙂

  • Not bad. Could stack this with the $129 annual Virgin Money High Flyer credit I think?

    • I guess? does the credit get applied at checkout or is it given to you after the purchase?

      • You request the voucher and then apply it at checkout.

        • Right, so you'd probably need to end up spending ~$809 no?

I mean $339 savings if its multi person travel is great, but unless you're MEL-PER $809 flights arent amazing for shorthaul solo.

          • +1

@TexasVujicic: The deal is valid for multiple transactions, so it’s not like you need to take one return trip that costs ~$809. You could book flights for multiple months that total that amount and save $339, which is approximately 42% savings.

Literally spent $707 (non-cancellation ones) yesterday arvo..

  • Fantastic, glad I saw this, I was about to book some flights for just after Christmas anyway.

  • +1

Glad I booked my flights yesterday 🤡

  • Not on either of my cards. ☹️ I guess I'm a risk for actually using it.

  • Plat Edge.. No offer.

    • +1

Got it on my plat edge

  • Nothing on my Platinum Card - booooo

  • no luck here as well..

  • +3

In the past I've seen these offers pop-up on my card a day or two after first seeing it on OzB….don't give up hope!

  • No offer for "AMEX Essential" card either.

  • Got it!

  • Nothing on my Qantas Ultimate Boooooooooooooooooooo

  • Just spent $700 on flights 8h prior to this. Urghhhh

  • No offer on my Plat Charge.

  • Will Amex know whether it's a Domestic or International booking? Was planning to buy flights to Fiji

    • I'm keen to know as well, did you end up trying it?

  • +6

Looks like we can use this Amex card for reward flight too.

Redeemed a reward flight to Europe using velocity point and pay $800 taxes using my Amex card.

    $200 credit appeared this morning.

    • +1

      Legend. Thanks.

  • Anyone noticed that the Virgin Australia offer is no longer listed in their 'Saved to Card' section? Mine was listed there a few days ago, but has since disappeared.

    • Mine also disappeared yesterday . But the credit has since shown up for it

      • Great, I'll keep an eye out. Thanks!

  • Spent it two days ago but haven't had the credit or acknowledgement email show up yet. Anyone actually get it already?

    • There's no acknowledgement e-mail. If you spent (that is spent, and not have the transaction posted) two days ago, your credit should be there by Sunday or so.

      • Thanks! will look out for it

  • have to book a kid too. does anyone know if it will work for bookings done over the phone? will phone rep take two amex for split pay or it has to be make on a single card?

  • can one buy gift cards online?

  • i clicked on the business log on and it took me to https://businesslogin.virginaustralia.com/ and now my amex history is 30 Dec VIRGIN AUSTRALIA - NZ - DIRECT $675.00. can someone tell me if thats the correct entry that appears on their statement?

  • ref VIRGIN AUSTRALIA - NZ - DIRECT it changed to Birdsville virgin and tracked on 31 dec says redeemed so i expect to get the $200 credit looks like it worked.

  • via the business portal i had to do a separate booking for a child but booked and paid for adult fare. will this be a problem when checking in?
