  • Could someone explain to me, if I am looking to use ethernet connection back to the main router then what feature should I be looking for?

    • +3

ethernet backhaul across all devices? probably wouldn't bother looking into tri-band gear then.
tri-band will have it's own band to communicate to each AP

      • Oh I see now, it's only advantageous if you're using them wirelessly to connect back to the main unit.

Yes, that's right. I would like to connect multiple units back to the main router via ethernet.

You need the X60 for iiNet ultra fast NBN 1000/50
    $20 shipping kills it

  • Is https://www.tp-link.com/au/wifi7/event/ worth waiting for?
I have a Deco M5 at the moment and a 1Gbps Fibre connection.
While the connection is always solid, I wonder if I could get faster speeds on the phone, XBOX, laptops etc with a higher spec Wi-Fi?

I have M5 and are with Iinet, X60 is only tp-link they recommend for 1GB plan. Currently getting 4-500mb with .

      • Fair point, I just got 400 Mb/s on my old Galaxy S10e.
        I should not complain.

    • That'll probably just be an announcement of draft 11be capable designs, with blessing from one or more of the three large SoC vendors that I see. (Qualcomm, Broadcom, Mediatek, Marvell wifi is dead and Realtek is in budget-tier hell)

The spec isn't really final for a couple years, but I think they're almost due to vote on the 3rd Draft spec.

I mean, whatever they put out should be okay and maybe upgradable to final spec, but I wouldn't expect physical hardware in your hands this year.

  • is there any mesh can take FTTN (VDSL)?

    • Just use any of these behind an existing FTTN modem and disable wifi on that.

I recently upgraded from the Tenda Nova MW3 system, to the X68. It has been a vast improvement in terms of the stability of the network, and overall coverage in my house.

  • Let's say I have an ethernet backhaul in my house. Can I theoretically plug the ethernet cable from my NBN fttp NTD to one of the ethernet ports in my house and just have all my devices plugged in directly to the other ethernet ports? Or will I require a router like this one plugged in to the NTD then connect the router to an ethernet port to share the connection?

    • I think you will always need a router to plug into the NBN Box (NTD).
From there you can go through a switch to the rest of the house.
      At least that's how I did it…
